After seeing the Deluxe Vader Costume at C-3 I can't understand why anyone would waste money on it... Just my opinion!

This is my first post...I have followed this thread very closely and visited other sites like RPF....Until recently, I didn't think it was possible to put a quality Vader costume together; but, you guys have convinced me. I have wanted to be Vader since I was a kid and I am ready to start making this dream a reality. I want this costume to be a masterpiece and I can be patient...one piece at a time. The first two pieces I would like to work on are the mask (a ready to go ESB or ROTJ) and suit. Forgive my ignorance, but from what I understand, the Cking, DP deluxe, and Celtic Touch are regarded as some of the better masks; I've tried Ebay....any suggestions or additions as to where to pick up a mask? As far as the suit...Saber Holder and Rogan Agar....Rein One? I've looked all over and can't find this maker anywhere. I know you can't post addresses; please pm me. By the way Ragan; I think your costume looks fantastic! That's what I am shooting for. Saber, I noticed your just starting out too and our goals seem to be the same....any suggestions are welcome. You guys are doing a great job; look forward to hearing from you.

p.s. Ordered the Rubies Supreme Vader costume a month ago and after reading this thread terminated the order.

Hey Rick... Glad you have patience, because you're going to need it :p

My Vader is coming along at a nice pace... But now I have run into a money snag... Luckly I get out of school for the summer in a week and start working full time. I've already got a couple grand into it and its not even half done... Saving up for the shoulder armor and a GINO chest box at the moment :)

Also, sent you a PM :)

Rogan....looking good, still interested in seeing more close ups of that helmet in order to figure out where its from....

Like Saberholder, I've changed out a few items and have a nice ANH helmet as well as a set of GT chest armor up for sale....

pm me for more details, if interested....otherwise, off to ebay!

RickVader....CKING, CT and make great helmets but they are few and far between on ebay, low numbered DP Deluxes are also very hard to find...you may want to check the RPF Junkyard as there are also other great makers out there such as JB, SPFX and others....do your research and decide which one YOU like the best before you plunk down your hard earned cash!

Thanks for the tips guys! I really like the JB and the SPFX. From what I have read, they can take a while, but are well worth the wait. If anyone can pm me with contact information for these I would appreciate it. As far as which one looks the best, any opinions out there? Man, this is addictive, been researching helmets all day!

hi i'm new to this thread, but just what i have been looking for,i have been making a vader helmet totally from scratch, and it's looking sweet.
i started of by using cerial boxes to get the basic shape but since then it has evolved a lot, the only the thing is now i wish i had taken pictures of it from the start, i would like to show u all the work so far, but no pictures as yet.

Dude, you have to wait more than 6 minutes for a reply...

As for your helmet, I'd like to see pictures as it sounds interesting.

RickVader....the opinions vary WILDLY about which helmet is more accurate.......as far as what looks best, that is very subjective. You have to figure out what looks the best to you. Some of the ultra accurate casts are a bit warped in the facial details and were corrected by painting, lighting, camera lense angles while filming etc....so while it looked great onscreen, it may not look the same to you in person. If you are looking for an idealized Vader helmet, wait for the Master Replicas ROTS coming out in November....it is symmetrical just like the screen used version. Do your homework and figure out which one looks the best to you, 'cuz if you ask three different people which Vader they like the best or what is the most accurate, you will undoubtedly get three totally different answers...I currently have 3 different f-glass helmets and I'm constantly finding new things which I noticed were or were not there when I bought them....

....yeah, I'd like to see the home-made helmet too....very creative!

Well, I made my first prchase...pulled the trigger on MR's ROTS helmet; now I just have to wait. What do you guys think about the neck; it would appear that it is too long to work with the costume (turning head sided to side). Still want to get a fan made helmet...leaning torward a JB....do you guys know how to get in touch with him?

    Rick.. Sent you a PM

Definatly agree with Kev... There are so many different versions that are considered accurate by different people. There is a LOT of research that goes into it.

As for the ROTS helmet, I imagine that it would somewhat limit your head movements... And if you are looking for armor, someone sells fiberglass casts of ROTS armor on Ebay for a very good price.

After the helmet, what do you think is the next piece I should focus on? Thanks for the responses guys; much appreciated. BTW if anyone has got some pics of there stuff; would love to see it!

I would personally do the bodysuit next... Since its the second most expensive item.

.....regarding the MR Vader neckline....hard to say as the ROTS armor has a lower neckhole so movement may not be as much of a problem....definitley more limited than the OT stuff tho...for pix of a JB ESB, I have pix of mine posted at the DVCF and Sith Lords forum......beautiful helmet....

....for your second item, I'd actually say the chest and beltboxes as they light up and draw people's attention.....some may not notice but if you are going for an accurate display Vader or if you're a very big guy, the GT and GT clone boxes look too small IMHO...I'm getting rid of my GT set and getting a more accurate set....
