OMG, will you please bring this up in the TCW thread?! This could be important re: season seven.
    How certain are you?
Maybe it has something to do with, I realize this was unpopular, the gangster-woman that wronged him? Maybe he doesn't want to save anyone. Maybe he wants to kill someone. Maybe that's how Sidious killed Plagueis, idk.

Maybe as Luke is escaping the 2nd Death Star, someone uses the WBW and grabs Vader off the Imperial Shuttle and drops off an empty suit. Luke burns the empty suit on Endor. Meanwhile, elsewhere in time, the person that used the WBW revives Vader.

    That person? Snoke.

People were saying the same thing back during Rebels about WBW being used sparingly. Actually, me included. We're not even one year in before a potential return of WBW. I must say that this case fits more into the "exploring the mystery and mysticism of the Force" though considering that Momin is a new character. I just hope writers don't fall off the slippery slope and overuse it.

Actually, it is irrelevant whether a character is said to be dead or not in the context of WBW. Kanan is dead but Ezra was tempted to bring him back anyway. Ditto with his parents. We never see what would happen if someone did bring back someone who ended up dead, if Ezra gave in to the temptations for example. Will the timeline be changed? Alternate timelines? Or is it simply impossible to create a paradox, that everything were already decided? E.g. Ezra will always resist the temptations to avoid creating paradoxes? On the other hand, Ezra will always pull Ahsoka to prevent a paradox?

Btw, is Chaos really a thing now? Or just a fans term? [face_thinking]

A real shame; it's a nice idea for an anthology and I would have loved seeing Aftermath elements appear in comic form

As long as the character they pull is the Inquisitor Vialco, I'll be delighted.

    I certainly hope so.

I'm guessing that Shadow of Vader was approver/concieved by Marvel in order to (at least temporarily) replace the very popular Vader series by Soule. Now, since Shadow of Vader is cancelled, I wonder if Marvel will announce another Vader series in its place?

I've been wondering if we'll eventually get a miniseries or a novel (either of them possibly by Soule!) tying into Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. I can certainly imagine the Inquisitors and even Vader appearing in the game.

Padme was Momin's hook to make Vader agree to the design.

I wonder what Vader did during all the unsuccessful construction attempts? Each of those would've taken a long time.

I loved this issue, it was great.
I was shocked when Momin pulled his body out of the door. I know that Vader will have to kill Momin because of the timeline and all that, but still. Also, the different hosts were hilarious.

Consider reading the original Lando miniseries if you haven't already done so :)

But if they did that, wouldn't they be saving good "Anakin" as opposed to bad "Vader"? They'd have to rescue him earlier so they'd have bad "Vader" in all his essence.

One thing that I find quite interesting is the ways the writers are finding around the Rule of Two during the Empire´s reign. First with Maul, that was alive until what, 2, 3 BBY? Now Momin, that was around for far longer than I expected, considering that he managed to design and build 9 castles in Mustafar, demolishing 8 of them in the process.

In the Plagueis novel, I remember that after killing Tenebrous, Plagueis thinks about himself being the legitimate heir of the Sith tradition, and that there where many others falsely making that very same claim... something that, in a very exclusive, powerful and secretive Order that has been around for so many centuries, makes perfect sense to happen, I think.

Much like in Legends, the way these darksiders relate to each other and (barely) tolerate each other to achieve their own personal goals is one of the things I find most intriguing and interesting about this era!

I would argue that, after TPM. Maul and any Apprentices that he had were a splinter sect that was in rebellion against the Banites. I don't think Maul violated the Rule of Two any more than Lutherans not having Bishops violates Catholic doctrine.

    Legends-Ventress comes to mind.
"The dark side is strong in me, for I am Sith."
"A bold claim, but you are not Sith. You wear the trappings of the Sith, you fight like the Sith, but this can be imitated, however. You lack a vital quality found in all Sith. Sith have no fear, and I sense much fear in you."

Issue 23 was mind blowing! This series is truly amazing and I'm going to miss it a lot. And I can't wait to see whether Vader will be able to reach Padme in some form in the end and what's going to happen. Anything can happen at this point, including Vader killing Padme in the end (again)...

My prediction is issue 24 will be Vader dealing with the locals and Momin, and issue 25 will be Vader finally opening the door and having some crazy trippy Force spiritual experience.

Also this whole thing puts Vader's line in ANH about "...insignificant compared to the power of the Force" in a completely new perspective. The guy literally knows what he's talking about. After all he ripped a hole into the fabric of reality with his bare (gloved) robotic hands.

It also makes me wonder whether Palpatine knows Vader managed to accomplish something like this? I got the impression that Vader's attempt was much more powerful and potent than what we saw Palpatine doing in Rebels. And Vader potentially did it years before Palpatine.

It really makes me think that the reason why Vader never tried to overthrow Palpatine wasn't that he lacked the power, but that he lacked the motivation.

Actually, we know Palpatine did the same thing in the WBW. He opens a portal to the place and keeps it open for a while, attacking Ezra and Ahsoka. He just can't enter it. No Dark-Sider can.

Yes, but Palpatine actually needed a physical gate, he needed the "door frame" for lack of better words from the Lothal temple.

Vader simply tore his door open through sheer Force and will power. He basically created a new portal to the WBW, while Palpatine needed to find an already existing portal. This is why Momin was trying to convince Vader to leave the full opening for another day as well. He needed Vader to actually create the portal, so he can use it himself, but without Vader tearing the hole in the first place, Momin would have never been able to create it himself. At least that's how I read it.

And ironically, I think the part of Vader that gives him the strength to do this thing actually comes from Anakin. Its his desire and love for Padme, albeit its selfish and possessive love.

Where did we see Palpatine use the hypergate at the Lothal Temple to enter the WBW? Ezra uses the Temple Door to enter the WBW.

But, once inside, he encounters Palpatine via one of the time portals (which are distinctly different from the Door) inside the WBW.

We know that these types of portals are gateways from the WBW to a specific time and place.
But, they only exist on the side of the WBW, until someone inside the WBW reaches through them. We know this for a fact, because we didn't see anything resembling the Temple Door inside the Malachor Temple.

Nor did we see one on the summit of the fuel pods where Kanan met his end.

From this evidence, we can conclude that the portals inside the WBW have no physical counterpart on the other side, in the real world. So how could Palpatine have appeared at one of the gates of his own volition? Kanan and Ahsoka only appear at Ezra's behest, when he comes close to them and sees them in the gateways.

There's only one method we know of for a Force-user to enter the WBW without a physical, pre-existing doorway.
They have to tap a Dark Side locus and focus it's power into a doorway that can enter the WBW. This method requires some sort of medium or structure to focus the dark power. In Fortress Vader, we see Vader using five stone slabs carved with ancient inscriptions arrayed around the cracked stone altar that is the center of the Mustafar Force Locus.

When we Sidious appear at one of the portals inside the WBW, he's standing next to a different altar. The same altar-like basin he used to reach across time and space to ensnare Yoda in an illusion. If you compare the two images closely, you can see that they are in fact the same device.

Vader does create a door to the WBW. But it's noted that he doesn't do it on his own. He's using his own power and will to forcefully shape the existing power of the Mustafar Dark Side nexus into a door. Based on the evidence I presented above, I submit that Palpatine did the exact same thing. Vader's feat does not in any way make him superior to Sidious.

Vader closes the portal before he leaves the chamber. He doesn't leave it open for Momin to use. Momin opens it on his own, using the existing pathways that Vader had forged with Momin's designs. I suppose I read this quite differently from you.
