right ya are UV, and seduced, remember the inner robe covers the speakers so it helps to diffuse the sound out, along with the cape deflecting some also. so you get a effect of it coming from your torso, which will work just fine.

i run some sound tests like that, using the 2 new pa amplifier waist band speakers, and had the wife stand around me in locations all the way around, as i talked, she said from behind, it sounded a lil less loud, from the sides, she couldnt even tell where it actually come from, and the front, the same, she couldnt tell where it come from, so the effect will work.

its a matter of adjusting that volume out equally, or not equally. i found if one was slightly louder, the breathing stayed up louder and my voice come through more on the less loud one. kinda a slight chamber echo effect with a reverb on the voice without a echo. if that makes any sense, lol. almost movie like in tone. or just equalize them, adjusting level to where you get clear sound and no feedback, and go with that. theres a lil play with it involved to fine tune to your liking, but i really reccommend grabbing those waistband amps off ebay, they only run about 30 bucks each.

and i use a Y cable coming off the hyperdyne to run to each speaker, simple radio shack Y cable.

Could someone provide the measurements of the Rubie's armor as illustrated in the image above?

Also, could someone post images of the side and the back of the armor? Thanks!

Shoulder to shoulder is 16 inches, from the bottom of one side of the chest to the other is 15 inches and the neck like is more or less 8.75inches!

Thanks! So it does more than just barely go over your shoulders and trapezium, right? It actually touches your back instead of barely clings there?

Well, its got to fit "right". The bottom of the edge of the bells should be more or less parellel to the floor when your arms are hanging straight down (assuming the bells don't slide under the armor).

And the chest plate should sit as flat as comfortable over your chest and pecs. You don't want it sticking out at a 45 degree angle from vertical, for example.

Are those measurements of the Large or the Extra Large, or is there only one size to the armor?

i never measured the rubies but monday i might be able to dig it out and check those same measures above, but i bet theyre the same.

the backsaide does come over onto the shoulder blades on me, and has that strap across the back for fit adjustments.

if you dont mind havin a rubies, and are willing to do the sandin and repaint job it needs like i did on mine, then it might be your ticket.

back a bit where i posted what i started with and where im at now pics, you can see how much better the rubies armor loks now since i painted it.

My standard size Rubies armor measures:

    Neck width: 8 5/8 inches
    Corner to corner: 16 inches
Shoulder to shoulder: 17 3/4 inches

I measured the shoulder to shoulder width by turning the armor over and measuring the distance between the hinges for the bells.

    Thanks, Huzz. You're super!!

So... I placed an order for a Rubie's armor. Hopefully it'll turn out great.

I'm also working out a separate acquisition for fiberglass armor of approximately the same size. At least the Rubie's will be a good backup.

I am trying to decide if I should perm attach the shoulder bells to the chest armor.

This is how the armor sits on me right now unattached...

    What do you guys think?

Permanently attached is more screen accurate and the way to go in my opinion. As long as it looks good, go for it.

nope, permantly attached is not screen accurate seduced. they werent perm attached, they were flexible, used either velcro or leather straps. watch the movie real close, in a scene you see the bell moved away from armor slightly on one side.

i found this out from someone on the SLD a couple weeks ago.

only good perm attached does is make the shoulders seem wider, but you cannot lift your arms very high at all.

try puttin your lid on with bells attached and armor fastened down, hard if not impossible.

just passin what i was told was confirmed fact.

What I meant was the bells don't extend below the armor. They do hinge upward but not downward. They have the appearance of being permanently attached. I knew this already but just didn't elaborate. When Vader breaks his arms free you can see the bells move upward slightly on each side.

ahh, you know that too, good, your right, from the way you said it, i assumed you were making the ole its perm, attached claim. my bad, now we're on the same page. lol

you could go with a bolted on method of either leather straps, so leather becomes the hinge, or as someone done on SLD done, found a different hinge and mounted it with FG or epoxy or something.

for storage sake, it still might be better to fix it so you could take them off to store it in the chest or whatever. unless of course, storings not a issue then you wouldnt need to remove them.

Yup (even more obvious in the promotionial photos). They will bend upward but do not fold beneath the armor. The easy fix is to epoxy something underneath so that it holds the shoulder bells up but does not permanently hold them in one place. However, if permanently attaching the shoulder bells would be easier for you and does not restrict your movement too much, I don't see anything wrong w/ it. Either way looks better than the bells folding under the armor... unless you're going for an OT Vader in which case the armor's actually different. In the end it's up to your preference.

good point. my friend fixed his by epoxying a piece of plastic on the front and back side edges as a guide, so they would always come back down againsnt edge and not go past it.

Lan, what about your method of cutting a strip of stiff plastic from something and installing it under the hinge so it sticks out under the bell to keep it from falling under the chest armor?

I would expect that to work really nice!

On the cape, Lan I think you have been accepted into the 501st with an unlined cape. I think SL 7768 did also. Has anyone else here been accepted with an unlined cape?

    Cheers,
    Dave

Let's see if I can post a pic now:

    [image=http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s23/daveyvader/DSC01399.jpg]

Holy toledo it worked!! Let the bells ring out, let the banners fly!! [face_dancing]

    Here's another:

    [image=http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s23/daveyvader/DSC01398.jpg]

and one more for good measure:

    [image=http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s23/daveyvader/DSC01397.jpg]

I left the cape off because its easier to see the basic suit that way.

Neither the armor nor the helmet have been painted yet. BUT that is the Porty ROTS box, the TrikToys aluminum buckle, Sitharmor saber hook, Sitharmor 1st generation ROTS gloves, Sitharmor shins and a funky little square-link armor chain I added. I hope to have a nice accurate ROTS chain very soon. And if you look closely you can see the TrikToys lenses which have a nice and flat ROTS look.

I think the bells are popping too much due to padding I added under them so they would not slide under the armor when my arms are lowered. I may have to adopt the "Lan Method" to fix that. [face_thinking]

Comments of a constructive nature are most welcome!

    Cheers!
    Huzz

    Hot Damn!

I have said it other-places Huzz ... I like the Proportions you have in Costume! Makes me wanna put myself on a "Stretchy-Machine" (I need about 3" more in the legs) [face_laugh]

I really like the overall Look of Your RoTS Vader!

You're coming together nicely and the Mods you are talking about doing will only enhance your costume!

I regrettably didn't get to work on my Vader this weekend ...I had to work on a Kitchen 'Remodel' project
