I've seen Megadeth many times. You'll enjoy them. Mike Portnoy is a GOD on drums man. I don't even think he's a real person. lol.

I got to speak to Geoff Tate from Queensryche yesterday on one of the radio stations down my way. I had a whole conversation with him. Real nice guy, but then again, if I had his money, I would be too.

You missed a great show man! I've always wanted to see Alice Cooper get killed, and I did last night as they hung him on stage after he drove a spike through this baby's chest in a baby stroller lol. Great theatrics!

I was slightly disappointed that Queensryche didn't play more of their older stuff.

Anyway, wasn't this thread about Darth Vader? METAL RULEZ!!!

Lan - sounds like you have a bad cable pair or the sheath of the outside plant telephone cable or the drop wire to your home may have a break in it, allowing moisture in, creating the problem.

Looks like a job for the telephone repair guy.

I have looked everywhere, and it seems that they're starting to get more rare on Ebay, so I picked one up. I looked, and only saw them for $165.00. That was as low as I have seen them.

You wouldn't believe how heavy the thing is though. I have a feeling I'm going to have to Velcro my belt on that side so it doesn't sag from the weight. I'd say it weighs close to 5 lbs!

Ask & Ye shall receive: jwill1979 is the dude's name on Evil Bay ... i checked and he presently isn't listing anything, but drop him an email!

BDV ... Tighten up that belt son! :p The LE is a MONSTER ... i had to punch a new set of holes in my belt to get it tight enough to take the added weight. But I have a $5 costume saber for PARADEs and outdoor events which weighs next to nothing.

Doods - Master Replicas has their white clone trooper helmets on sale now at 50% off. The code you'll need if interested is FRM144.

The 212th Utapau helmets are sold out though.

    Cheers!

No thanks. It's Vader or nothing for me. (Well maybe one day I'll do a Red Imperial Guard)
    But thanks anyway.

My five year old son's absolute favorite Star Wars characters are the Clonetroopers and Stormtroopers. And I personally think those guys are right up there with Vader on the "coolness" meter. So once I get my Vader where I want it, I may very well do a Clone costume - he'll love it!

And at $175 for a Master Replicas helmet, I just simply could not resist. And in keeping with the Vader thing, perhaps I'll add the blue Anakin Skywalker Special Ops markings......

Oh, I wasn't putting it down Huzz, don't get me wrong. All those costumes are cool as Hell. I just like the idea that there is only 1 Vader. Like I said, maybe one day I'll do a RIG.

I got my 2nd JBL speaker today.

Paired with my Vortex, I thought 1 sounded awesome, but 2 of these bad boys together is astounding!!!

After hours of research, and coming up short, and since I'm an engineering disaster, I decided to just use industrial strength Velcro to hold on the speakers to my costume. I have Dremmelled off the black tabs that open up to reveal the speaker, and have made it even more compact.

    Ughz, I have a headache!

well i got my fan rigged. i was able to get the 2 4AAA packs in there. so i can run it at 12v i just dont knkow how long AAA will run, but its gonna be longer than a single 9v for sure, and stronger airflow inside there too.

i also got 1 of the jbl speakers, and when i get home in the morn, im gonna hook it up and see how it sounds on my V1 unit.

the 2nd should come in today or sat. and i have ideas to mount them to the harness rig.

it does involve velcro, but a more secure way of holding it, possibly with a added bottom and/or strap around it as well, or a cage like cup/cradles for bottom end to rest in.

still having issues with home phone line and cant get online from home till the line gets fixed.

I tried on my stuff last night, defiantly happy with the boots, shins, belt, cod piece, gloves and robe. The shoulders however need work. I'm to thin in the shoulder / upper arm area so I need to pad myself out. Im thinking foam padding or shoulder pads.. going to try both in the next few weeks.

Velcro is also not that great at supporting the belts, they are all over the place at the moment so I might go down another route. I need to more securely fix them to the shoulders.

Oh well, first dress.. cant expect miracles.. needs work. Im going to have to slow down on my Vader for the next month, low on cash. Want an ipod touch and the UCS MF is out in a few weeks.

Ill concentrate on sorting out my shoulders.

15 minute epoxy, and alluminum tabs are what hold my FG bells in place. Worked just fine.

Put the epoxy down the seam of the bells where it connects to the main shoulder itself, let it sit, and harden, then cut a couple aluminum pieces about 4 inches by 2 inches, and put 3 of them on per side again using epoxy.

    Mine aren't going anywhere!

That?s interesting, do most people have there bells fixed solidly onto there shoulders?, epoxy, aluminium. I would have thought some give would be preferable so you could move your shoulders more.

Do you fix them as if the bells and the shoulders are one solid piece ? If so, great.. makes my life easier. No more velcro.

edit - if thats the case, it seems odd the bells and shoulders are made separatly... just make them as one large piece.

i mounted mine with bolt blocks and leather straps, mine arent going nowhere and totally moveable for movement.

    netzeros working right now.

i hooked up the one jbl, sounded good, but not as loud as i hoped. the other will be here today, so i will hook up both together, witht he Y connector i have.

2 might just be loud enough together to work good. it did sound awesome with one, lots of deep resonate bass in the voice. switched unit on, set it to next lower tone level like i do with PA amps.

wife said it sounded really good to her.

stil got to put in batts in the cases i installed in MR mask, test fit to make sure it all clears inside.

one thing i discovered with new jbl speaker, is run the boom mike not directly in front of my mouth, cuz its picking up the breath from me in my words a bit too much, i looped it up a bit higher, just above my mouth. it picks up my voice really good there, and no breath sounds from talking. and raising it up a lil will help for fan clearance inside as well.

soon as i get back up later today, i will slap the batts in, and with both speakers hooked up test the fit in the mask again, and try out the new raised boom mike position to see how it is inside there.

got the harness set up with a leather strap with velcro rivoted to downstraps.

holds on there really good. and i discovered a easy fix for the sliding cover to stay open. you will find it slides shut really easily. a chunk of seatcushion foam stuffed in there after you plug in the jack, keeps the lid open, and it wont shut till you pll it out again.

    easy fix, simple solution.

Lan, you never cease to amaze me with your concoctions lol.

Mine permanently stays open as I cut the black tabs off the speakers, and I melted a small piece of the plastic on the bottom edge of the remaining piece. It won't shut without a lot of force, or breaking the plastic off.

    How's that for ingenious lmao!

    Hello,
I would like to ask some of you a few questions:

I am guessing the Rubie's Darth Vader supreme is the one to get? What about cost? I noticed last year I was seeing most go on EBay for about $500.00, now I am seeing places selling them for $700+, is there a difference in the supreme from last year to this year? Any ideas to help the appearance of the costume within a few weeks?

Where is the best place to go for the best price? I am head of a youth organization that is a charitbable/non profit, a 501 (3)(c), we are having a Halloween party with a Stars Wars theme for teens and preteens as part of a fundraiser. We emailed Rubies and told them about our charitbable/non profit, a 501 (3)(c) status hoping they would give us a supreme Vader at wholesale. Unfortunately they said we didn't meet there requirements for wholesale and said they can sell us one for $750.00, unfortunately we cannot afford that much as this is a fundraiser and we are trying to help out these kids in our organization. I can say we were at least a little disappointed in Rubies for not at least considering selling to us at wholesale, we did give them all of our information concerning our charitable/non profit 510 (3)(c) status.

Anyone have any connections to get a good price on a supreme? Or know where we may be able to go?

    Thanks!

I would think you could still find one on eBay for around $500 quite easily.

Out of the box, it should be fine for your purpose.

But! If you are a Star Wars nut and want to upgrade or have a really accurate Vader costume, then you should consider reading this thread and perhaps buying the costume "component by component" from the vendors here who make nice quality and quite acurate parts.
