Anyone else having a problem with the size of the Rubies supreme Edition Darth Vader Body Suit being too small? Mine is fine in every single aspect accept for the length/height of it. It is too short for me and really rides up in the crotch when i wear it. The size is perfect in the chest, stomach, legs and arms but it really really rides up to the point of having to walk in a weird way, lol. The zipper they have in the front for going to the bathroom is way above where it should be. I am 6'1 and shouldn't have this problem I don't think. I have the standard size because it said good for up to 44" chest, and I am a 42" inch chest. I wanted to maybe cut it in half and add some fabric to lengthen it and just have the codpiece and belt cover it, however, there is the long zipper on the back which comes down to maybe 1/4 of an inch before the legs begin/spread out. Is the only difference between the Standard and XL versions of the costume the size of the body suit? or is everything bigger? Is there a way just to purchase the body suit?

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Anyone else having this same problem?

I tought that I was the only one having trouble with the body suit. I also have the same problem. I will have to find a seamstress to fix it.

How is everyone else doing with the upgrades? So far, I have sent the helmet to do
a two tone paint job, fix neck, replace lenses, mouth mesh, and change sensors.

Also, I am replacing the belt buckle and the armor. I bought a fan made fiberglass armor, based on the ROTJ. Next week I will also replace capes with ones that are wool and lined with black satin and have a leather collar.

And I guess that will be it for the upgrades for this year.

yes, i am having the same problem. i am 6' 1" and it rides my crotch bad too. i also got the standard size because i am about 44" and i did not want a very large body suit from the extra large. it is so tight, that after putting it on, i hope and pray that i do not "rip" the thing when bending over to put the boots and shin guards on. i wish that it would have been a little bigger. i wish they would advertise or say the height limitations for the standard size as well so that people over 6' don't have a problem.

It did ride on me too. I think once you begin to wear it, the material will stretch a bit. I don't know. I bought it for a display, but how could I NOT try it on.

As you all have noticed, the helmet does indeed suck. I was planning on painting it the two-tone. But I think I'm gonna opt for keeping it ROTS style. Does anyone know the colors for ROTS? From what I gathered, it's ALL gloss black. I even slow-moed the Star Wars DVD ROTS preview where they were reconstructing the new Vader helmet.

It looks black to me. Any clues?

I am 5 8 and have trouble with it. I think it is a design problem. It really
sucks. I will take it to the seemstress and see if it could be fix or not.

I just got off the phone with 7th avenue and they said they have a full container of costumes and that "they are shipping in the order they were purchased". I waited until Sept 16th to purchase off of ebay, THEN found this forum! When I asked if mine would ship by the 5th of october 2005 as stated in the auction, the above quote was repeated. I asked if that meant that my costume would not ship on the 5th and The above line was repeated again....Fingers crossed. She did seem nice though. First time post here guys! Hi!

Hey everyone. Well I got my suit yesterday afternoon and all in all, I think its awesome. The cape is a lot heavier than I thought it would be, and while the whole thing is very very hot while worn... I didnt find it unbearably so.

My initial reaction to the helmet was the same as everyone elses' in that I thought it was huge! But once the whole suit is on it looks about right.
The lenses do suck horribly... I'll be looking to replace them soon since it was disapointing to get all dressed up as vader and then not be able to see yourself clearly in the mirror.

I'll probly wait till after haloween to start tinkering with anything I could potentially ruin like any repainting, but if enough time goes by I may leave most of it as it is. Sure a lot of it is inaccurate but I'm not super picky so I may find I'm ok with leaving things unchanged as opposed to lots of work.

The shingaurds need straps, those zippers are stupid.

I only have one picture for now, its pretty boring but I wanna try and get some good shots done this weekend.

    Ok Guys!

Here is the latest with the suit. I went to the seamstress and there is a fix. They need
to add material like in between the legs. Rubies didn't left any material, so you really
need to add new leather o pleather to it. My seamstress is going to charge 55 dlls +tax for the fix. And he show me the leather that he has to insert into the suit and it is not bad.
Hopefully, it will look ok. If not, I will try to find a new suit.

Oh wow, so there IS a way to do it! lol, good. So she is going to add material to the top of the legs and not at the bottom of the waist just below the zipper? Wont that be visible while wearing the suit? Anyone now if it is possible to add material to the area where the zipper in the back is? maybe pull out the zipper, add some material, then lay the zipper over it again or something? That would be perfect!

Thanks so much Christian for letting us know that you are giving it a shot, please keep us updated as I am very curious to see how it looks and what happens.

    Eric,

You mentioned it well the problem is in the distance between the zipper and the top of the legs. Since you want to add material to this, the natural way of doing so is in the top of
both legs. Since I don't want the patch to be visible, I told him that the leather should be seemed by using the same pattern as the rest of the costume. The only thing that gives peace to my mind is that at least you have the codpiece to cover a little bit that area.

    Hi Everyone,

Have to say my costume is an excellent fit. I thought I was going to have lots of problems like you have mentioned, but I haven't. I ordered the standard and got all the measurements from an Ebay seller site before buying, but not the one I bought from. I weigh about 200lbs and stand 5'10" tall, the costume fits perfect, the only alteration was round the neckline, which I got trimmed and refinished off as it cut into my neck at the front. I've now got my ankle boots resoled, adding an inch to the heel height. So with the lifters in the boot I have added just over 2" to my height. In costume I now stand at 6'4" tall, so I'm happy with this height.

Looks like my mate and I will be doing some shop promotion with the ROTS DVD release, so that should be fun. Him in his Stormtrooper outfit and me as Vader. I reckon a lot of phone camera pics will be taken on the day by passer-bys.

Started to get some parts made for the neck braces I will be making. The first is my new prototype, but it's looking good. We have a CNC lathe at work so I can get the parts made up very easily. I'm sourcing an original plug connector to take a mould off so I will have an original part design. Still can find the mesh material. Anyone know where I can get this? I'm perhaps only going to make my second Rubies helmet an ESB version and not a full reveal. I might late on make a full reveal fibreglass helmet.

Anyway, hope you guys get your costumes to fit. As I've mentioned before, get yourself an under-garment, it will stop your getting hot and sweaty against the leather suit, it worked for me. Get one from a good bikers clothing shop, around £50.

    Bye, Hummerth.

I'm pushing 6'2" and I ordered the XL size. The lenth is perfect, but you would need to weigh 400 lbs. to fill this thing out, I mean I'm swimming in this thing. I had it re sewed at the side seams and now it fits great.

    Hey Hummerth,

Do you know where I can get an undergarment online? In the link that you post it doesn't sell them. It just shows a review of one of them.

    Hi,

gonzalc3, I don't know if you are UK or US based, but the under-garment I've got was manufactured by a company called KNOX. They are a british company based in Cumbria. The telephone number is 0800 731 6298, this is a free number in the UK, don't know about the US. You can email them at sales@planet-knox.com or visit thier website at www.planet-knox.com, hopefully this will help. I don't know if they sell to the states. The under-garment is very good and light to wear. It feels so much more comfortable wearing the whole costume, I find the time I get the warmest is actually getting it all on, which takes about 30 minutes and requires help from someone. Once I am completely dressed I start to get cooler and level off at a comfortable temperature, still warm, but not unbearable. With my fan in my helmet as well I don't mind, and I also wear a balaclava to hide my face through the grills, even though I have installed secondary finer mesh grills. As mentioned on an earlier post I did add lapels to the under-garment to stop the straps from sliding off my shoulders as the material is very shiny. Also I've got to add something to the lower chest box strap buckle as it is chaffing the garment, but this is easy to fix. Hope this information will help.

Just looked at the website, but haven't found the product yet. On the packet it is described as an 'Undersuit' and it's in black L/XL.

I tried the same thing about 3 months ago. I'll never do a pre-sale again. These guys take on too many orders, then it takes forever for you to get yours, if at all. Most of the companies doing the presales ended up refunding MANY of the buyers who got tired of waiting. When I ordered mine, I was told 2 weeks wait. 2 weeks later, same thing. Then it was pushed to the end of next month, and then one more time. I finally said forget it, and got my money back, which in itself was a task because they don't seem to want to respond to any emails after they've gotten your money!

At any rate, I purchased mine from an IN STOCK seller about a week ago, and it arrived yesterday, and I love it! I will be makine a few modifications as well such as the lenses for starters, but all in all I really like the costume!

    Hi,

Search for shoelifts on ebay. I both a pair that adds 2'. To the boots the bootmaker is
adding 2 in. Since I am 5'8 with just these I will be 6'2 plus another 2-3 in that the helmet adds, then I will get like 6'5.

The two outside shots I did some minor photoshop work on for the lightsaber glow and to change the lighting hue, but nothing else major.

Great Pics! I love your camera angles. The first thing I am going to do with mine is the mouth screen. If you notice, you can see a person inside, lol. Of course, that's after I scare the living daylights out of the kids and pets. Great photos!
