Darth Vader: The body count (No ROTS Spoilers... yet!)

Apparently, while there's not official any exact number on Anakin/Vader's body count, official sources have it listed as being somewhere upwards of 130,000 but below 150,000. This is counting everyone who has been killed by his hand or by his direct command, be it in person or as a result of the destruction of vehicles and ships.

In terms of kills, Vader's got nothing on Grand Moff Tarkin, Luke Skywalker, or Lando Calrissian, all of whom have killed at the very least 10 times as many people as Vader have, and that's with a VERY conservative estimate.

 

That can't be right, the massacre of Falleen alone is 200,000.

He was no more responsible for that than a Stormtrooper gaurding a toliet on the Death Star. It's not like he had any authority to counter Tarkin, as it was his own pet project.

Quite, however, remember that firstly A: The Republic and the Empire both had much greater numerical superiority (as far as organics went) over their adversaries, and B: there were no convient Rebel/Seperatist "superweapons" availible for Vader to blow up.

Audie Murphy killed approximately 250 enemy soldiers throughout his career. The crew of the Enola Gay killed a few hundred thousand in a single sorte. Which took more skill?

Not that I'm saying Luke or Lando's bit of flying wasn't impressive or difficult, but rather, Anakin/Vader was in sustained combat on and off for more than twenty years.

As far as individual combat kills, he ranks with the best.
