So: While I was out rambling about the wilds recently, I came up with the idea of my original character Antares--last seen in the Kessel Run-- keeping a diary during the summer she and her "favorite man" Karellen spend working for the Taanab Forest Service at a remote mountain station as her first stop in the rest of her life after she graduates from university. (I decided to sit out the Olympics and then this happens.)

I'm going to open this to public opinion and hold a poll:

1. DEW IT.
2. You still haven't finished your diary from 2018. Perhaps you should hold off on this?
3. It's your life. Do what you want.

 

I'd never, ever personally endorse the second option. Writers gotta write!

You should always go with your gut, so I'd probably put my vote somewhere between #1 and #3. As in, between what those numbers represent in this context. Not numerically between them. Because then we'd be back on #2.

 

It's up to you. Marida started a diary at the request of Owen in case they ever had kids, but I doubt she ever finished it (which is why I haven't gotten much past the beginning of the third chapter of My Life on Isla Nublar on FF.net), since her mother was more of a journaler (who stopped after she got together with Marida's father, so perhaps it runs in the family) than she was, so I'm not participating in the latter half of this challenge. The earlier idea I had (what life was like in Walled City 99 in the eyes of one of the companion robots that happened to be an Outsider) would have been too challenging, so I'll stick with the Summer Olympics and the Kessel Run Challenge for next year (which was kind of fun, so I'm curious as to what they come up with for next year). Since I failed the WIP Challenge, I won't be participating in the next one, since I don't like cross posting my stories (posting on more than one site. It's one or the other, not both).

On the poll regarding my fanfictional choices: results seem to mostly indicate YES MORE, whilst respecting my gut and previous WIPs. (And regarding "The Wrong Side of History"--I have been working on and mostly off on the next post for that for over a year. So yes.) I should have ideally finished at least one of my shorter works in progress in order to justify writing the MORE FIC, but that has not happened.

So I will have to see.
