The PT does a much better job of taking you "somewhere else" than the OT! Coruscant is the best location, IMO, and the prequels flesh out these amazing worlds in a superior way because of the technology Lucas has available now. Although I think both trilogies are fantastic at that...

My point was that in the OT you really never got any hints of our world as much as the PT. Quotes like "i heard they even tried to amend the constitution" just hit too close to our world IMO. It's not a bad thing but I actually like the PT better in alot fo ways because it is a much deeper film with the political commentary and is more emotional with all of the characters. Those are things that weren't explored as deep in the OT.

I think it's unfair for people to bash the PT until EP III is out because a lot of things will be answered and flesh out some confusing topics.

Good point count. On a whole I cannot "bash" the PT, its not done. The chapters presented thus far though, thats another matter. TPM was a big let down, for me, maybe ot everybody else, but not me. The effects are great, the story (to me) is a bit transparent, and easy to see unfold, there was no surprise for me. There was more in AOTC, namely Dooku punking Obi-Wan and Anakin with some DS lightning, I honestly did not think he was that powerful. More than anything I just want to see questions answered in EPIII. I do have a feeling it will be better than the previous two PT releases.

If they would have completed the droid ship raid sequence in would have shown how strong Dooku was with the force. The concept was that after they knock out controls on the ship and deactivate the droids Dooku uses the force to reactivate them. That is why in the movie you see Dooku shut them down when the have the Jedi circled.

I think his power is implied becasue he is Darth Sidiuos' apprentice. I for one would have liked to seen more of it. I dig Mr Lee so seeing him AND Peter Cushing in SW films given their history together is great.

I have a feeling, given the spoilers that I think are valid, that EP III will blow everone away in terms of story and dialogue.
    and make PT come around...hopefully.
With the last two films there wasn't this much postive response to the script they've been privy to. One actress, Rena owen I think, actually got to read the entire script and was blown away.

Just what you want, someone from Idaho giving their opinion, I'm sure. Just remember that Star Wars is the reason that films such as LOTR and the Matrix were even funded and made. George Lucas went to every major studio and was turned down, and even 20th Century Fox gave only HALF the money he asked for to make Episode 4. So my point is in 1974 movie studios thought fantasy films were a waste of time and money. And when Star Wars succeded it paved the way for the other successful sci-fi/fantasy movies of our time. Just my few cents worth....

One thing I will always hate is those who quell at the prequels and basically put the original trilogy up on some "godly" slab. Get over it! Star Wars is complete as a saga of six movies! We don't need Han Solo to have greatness. I'd venture to say that the prequel's are actually better than the OT in a lot of ways...but I love all the films, Jar Jar and all. The massive story-telling mythos, it's all so grand...it's wonderful. I know I don't speak for everyone, but my mouth dropped to the floor the first time I saw TPM, and it wasn't from disappointment either.

Now, on a scale of grand, I do have to say that LOTR probably has my winning ticket. It's not like I'm a LOTR's junky, if I was, then I'd be in a LOTR club and posting on their boards. But I know Lucas has borrowed from all over, and I know he's read LOTR, and I'm sure he got some inspiration from them. And why shouldn't he? They're great books, and a fantastic story. I love the LOTR. And I have to say that I disagree with the Cmd. on this one. While it was George Lucas who stepped out first to try and do something risky, something new, stylish and never seen before...even if he hadn't, I'm sure someone else would of down the road. But don't get me wrong, I'm very glad he did, very very glad...

Matrix always gets me really excited. The eye candy and the cool fights...and Mr. Smith is such a bad@!!. Oh yes, the Matrix films are great, and I to am anxious for next week when the last installment hits the screens.
But this series doesn't shake my being the way a LOTR or a SW film does. Both of these films are set more in the "epic" style, and I love the epic. The deep romance, passion, and drama of such stories. (Neo and Trinity getting it on innercut with a muddy rave isn't my idea of romance).

So I'd say that I love SW more just because I always have, but I think LOTR is a better story, and one with something more special to tell, and both of these sagas will hold a special place in my heart for a long time to come.
And again, the SW prequels have just as much passion and epic quality as the OT, and they are now and forever part of SW lore. While the effects may be improved, and the characters very different, the story stays the same. SW is da' bomb. May the Force be with you, all of you!

So overall, there is no BETTER movie series, but they are all great in there own way...that's the way I see it.

Remember Qui Gonn that the Original Trilogy was a success therefore there could be a prequel trilogy. I agree that the new trilogy is good also, but alas it is incomplete and therefore I am reserving judgement until it is completed.

As for the Matrix, as long as it has Mr. Reeves in it, it will never belong in the same conversation as Star Wars. And the LOTR trilogy is this generations Star Wars, that is a series that sets a new standard in fantasy filmmaking. And Qui Gonn you are wrong about Mr. Lucas, The fact of the matter is even he thought Star Wars could bomb, and if it had I would bet none of these great sci-fi/fantasy films would ever be made with the budgets they are today. Just give Lucas his praise as the Father of modern fantasy filmmaking. Without him there is no Peter Jackson, No Matrix, and likely, and quite dreadfully only 10 really bad Star Trek movies in this genre.

I would say that the Matrix movies are the best because of all the philosophy and hidden messages contained within the movies. The Wachowski Brothers once were asked in a interview how many hidden messages and puzzles were in the movies and they replied "More than anyone will ever discover."

However I have to say Star Wars means the most to me. It has always been there wheather I was up or down, happy or depressed. I always could hide in my Star Wars universe if I needed to get away from the real world. I remember back when I was a freshmen in high school and I read "Heir to the Empire" and I was so happy because there had been nothing after ROTJ and the Zahn Trilogy really brought the whole Star Wars universe back to life.

Oh yeah, LOTR are awesome movies also. :)
