She and Wil will die in the last arc along with Luthen. Those will be the final deaths of the series

which means of the major original characters introduced only like 3 will survive

It won't happen but I'd have loved Eady to have killed Dedra.

Dedra briefly choked on her ambition in the most recent episode.

And that ambition will lead her to a prestigious, senior position on the Empire’s singular, newly-minted, moon-sized space station.

That is the natural conclusion of her arc.

She’s evil and whatever horrible way she is going to go down, it will be warranted but it was really nice that she genuinely cared about Syril.

This episode really tore at her being. She’s used to being in control and even she realised she’s just a pawn and it cost her the one she actually did love.

Did we actually see a chink in her armour when she learns Syril has left the protection of the building and will be killed in the slaughter or was just the humiliation at failing to control Syril?

Partagaz: “Let the image of professional ascendance calm your nerves.”

One of the most chillingly perfect lines from an imperial yet. It’s the drug that will keep Dedra committed to the Empire until the Empire ends, and professional ascendance within that structure is no longer possible.

Partagaz is terrifying isn’t he. He’s quite gentle and caring with Dedra while at the same time not afraid to pull the trigger on mass genocide.

I do think it would be enjoyable to see Dedra punished for her crimes, but I'm not sure we should think of her as evil. She's no Palpatine, for instance; she's a broken person whose personality was distorted and shaped by the system. We see that she still has some shreds of humanity in her when she reacts to the genocide and loss of Syril as she does. Someone evil wouldn't do that.

Dedra shows the difference between a psychopath and a sociopath or narcissist. The latter two are created by trauma, family, or society. The first is born that way.

Andor shows us how Empire and fascism prey on dysfunctional personality types. Broken people who have a strong need for order and power. Dedra and Syril are both products of toxic environments, and it's the truly evil cons out there who take advantage of their weaknesses.

The show's portrait of this relationship between dysfunction and manipulation is very scary, especially so because it is so visible in our world today.

Dedra grew up in a sort of concentration camp for kids.
She was not loved by anyone.

In an environment like this it is rather common to close yourself from any feelings toward others.
Her profession was the only thing that gave her meaning.

Then, there is an important difference between her and Syril, which is the fact that Syril was genuinely convinced that the Empire was a net positive for the galaxy. If you find this hard to buy, you can think of the public opinion over foreign politics matters in real life to convince yourself. People tend to be intellectually lazy and on top of that they receive only partial information about what is going on.

I believe that Dedra, on the other hand, does not even think about the question in the first place. She just carries on her job as an Imperial officer in the best way she can. If it happens to be about committing atrocities, she tries to optimize the horrific operation as much as she can.

"Uncle Harlo will know what to do."

I've been thinking about that as well. They've set it up nicely. The cameras were all over that plaza and Dedra walked out onto the balcony at least twice a day. Eady could have seen her on the news and put it all together. But even if she didn't, she can always blame Dedra for making Syril flee Coruscant. Eady calling up Uncle Harlo and putting a hit on Dedra after Dedra trashed Harlo at the dinner would be poetic.

Another possibility that they have set up, and maybe more of a long shot, is that Dedra is personally executed by the Emperor. Krennic did threaten that if anything leaks from that meeting, it will be brought to the Emperor's personal attention. I could see a scene where she thinks she's about to receive the greatest reward, but instead, feels the full power of the dark side. The Monster comes for everyone.

Eedy might snap anyway and would know Syril ended up on Ghorman because of Dedra. I could see her going psycho and taking Dedra out and then herself.

I might even argue that Dedra’s first consistent awareness of how people expect authorities to act for the benefit of society would be Syril - that some of her interactions with him are her again and again being weirded out by how a core aspect of his expectations is “I’m doing the the right thing,” even as she’s absolutely aware he’s wrong.

Eedy killing Dedra herself is just too ridiculous. I could see her asking Uncle Harlo to hire a bounty hunter, but not doing the murder herself. But I don’t think it’ll happen. My guess is that Dedra is killed by her professional ambition. As a reward for the execution of the Ghorman massacre, she’ll be given a senior and coveted position on the Death Star. That would be a perfect end to her character.

What if Eedy *is* a bounty hunter. She inexplicably leaves her apartment at random times of both day and night, nearly every time we see her.

Judge her by her size do you?

I say Dedra will meet Uncle Harlo — a simple unassuming man who she doesn’t recognize but reminds her of Syril. In the moment of missing him, she’ll unknowingly let her guard down and meet whatever unsavory end was implied when she mentioned his ISB files.

Eedy will send her regards first of course.

I don't think Eedy will blame Dedra, at all. As far as Eedy knows, Syril left Dedra for the Ghorman assignment. I doubt the state approved media takes a bunch of footage of the ISB supervisor overseeing the Ghorman project.

Caring about Syril in no way redeems Dedra. This is woman who tortured Bix, repeatedly with Gorsts recordings.

Does 'Uncle Harlo' come into this story I wonder.

One part of me (a huge part) thinks @Bor Mullet is on the money with her ending up on the DS. It just works.

Another part of me thinks the Harlo bread crumbs have to come to something...don't they?? Eady prattling on about him. Deedra looking into him. He's a criminal. Deedra threatened Eady. Cyrill is now dead. Do these dots amount to anything?? It would be easy to hand wave the Harlo stuff away, but it was written into the script multiple times.

This show is way too smart for nothing to come of it

    I'm probably way off.

    @Intergalactic Lawman
It was written into the script in order to make Eedy's dialogues more interesting. She keeps bragging about the single relevant acquaintance she has, because that's what a person like her would do.

I don't think we were supposed to see in those lines a set-up for a payoff that is yet to come.

I thought what Eady said about Cyrill's dad could have been crumbs for later... he "fancied himself an adventurer"... and "suddenly disappeared" and never returned... interesting no?...maybe he is Luthen's kid eheheh:D:p[face_laugh]
