I think Eady's had her last moment. She was truly devastated by Syrils loss. Whatever her purpose in the series, those last moments, mourning her son, she became the "human" face of the Empire.

If so I hope Uncle Harlo is played by Larry David. That would be pretty, pretty, pretty funny.

Brutal ending for her ending up on Narkina 5. Absolutely poetic.

    Meh.

What is the benefit of keeping her alive in some prison? Krennic threatened that should anyone leak anything from that Ghorman massacre planning meeting; they would come to the emperor's personal attention. If she's disgraced and knows a lot, kill her.

Ironic, in the end she kind of got Syril'd. Bought down by the thing she completely believed in.

It could easily be argued that Dedra´s ending is a fate worse than death. It´s not only about being locked in that hell that we know is an imperial prison, but the fact that by being there, she has been stripped completely of the power and influence she strived for. In her mind, she did everything she had to, sacrificed everything to fulfill what´s expected of her; she was no doubt raised with the idea that this was the way for her to build her life. By being stripped of these goals, she is deprived of everything that, by being reflected on her, served to define her own identity.

I've always had a problem with the "Vader was a servant of the Emperor" argument being presented as if it´s something exclusive to him. Everyone, from Tarkin, Thrawn, Amedda, the Grand Inquisitor or Yularen to a local governor; every single character that has embodied the might of the Empire at some point is a servant to it, and the price of failure holds such a bleak fate for them. Without a doubt, Partagaz had the clarity to know what was coming; hence his choice. Fantastic ending for both arcs, knowing of course that Krennic will share it too, soon enough.

That award goes to Yularen, the events of this series re-contextualizing his presence there.

I know she is a horrible person. I know she has been involved in atrocities. Nothing can clean her of that.

But I can’t help feel a bit bad for her in the end, crying in a cell from which she will never escape.

She drink the Kool-aid, and that’s her fault. But it’s still pitiable to see where she ends up.

Devoured by the monster she helped create

Never escape? That prison is almost certainly going to be liberated in the next 4-5 years. I'm very curious what happens then. If the Alliance/Republic knows who she is, almost certainly a more conventional prison or execution. But if they don't know who she is...

I'm sure there will be a future comic book covering the subject ;)

A great ending for her character that I didn't expect. I agree with @Ithorians "fate worse than death"

There's actually piles and piles of subtext, meaning, and karma to her last arc in the show.

Her one act of minor rebellion after her "triumph" at Ghorman - her falling back into her old habits of hunting down Axis and going off-book to do so - was ultimately an almost pointless act of obsession in and of itself, like Syril's assault on Cassian, because Luthen's no longer anything close to the major threat he was before because the Rebel Alliance is now fully formed, and even Luthen can tell his days are mostly behind him... except that the "rusty old bear trap" that is Lonni waiting in the shadow of ISB was still primed and ready to go off if Luthen was threatened.

Dedra's refusal to grow with the new paradigm of the Death Star and Rebel Alliance almost mirrors Luthen's fall into near-obsolesence - except Luthen is an ironic but knowing "victim" of his own success in getting the alliance started up, and maintains the perspective of the larger game to realize the Death Star changes thing permanently... while Dedra has mostly just ignored or brushed aside the fact that her accidentally receiving Death Star notes (likely because of her "successful" operation on Ghorman) was a much bigger deal than an antiquated hunt for a boogeyman from five years before.

When they finally meet each other, Luthen mostly ignores her boasts and threats while she tries to bask in her victory... because he's keeping the actual stakes in mind and, ironically, has kind of been gifted one last moment of relevance and agency in the rescue of the Galaxy by Dedra's obsession and past-its-sell-date feud with him.

And while Dedra is smart and active... she wastes too much time gloating about their old feud to just stun him for interrogation when she has the chance, letting him instead deliver what last words he wants to her, turn away from her, and die with dignity on a weapon he showed her mere seconds before.

...So she winds up, in total, actually being more of a liability for her precious empire and an asset for the Rebels because Luthen's death cuts out her only real "Win Scenario" - where she might be able to torture "Yavin" out of him - and just leaves her ironically too-chill tolerance of dangerous material on her personal computer to help doom the Death Star because of Lonni, who's already passed on the information and been killed.

I was watching some of the behind the scenes while I was working today and apparently Denis Gough did research on female psychopaths for the role. Female psychopaths are much less likely to murder people themselves and instead convince others to do it for them...... and she imagined that was part of her relationship with Syril.
