ST Dennis Lawson aka Wedge is a jerk

I read a quote from Dennis Lawson that he was asked if he wanted to return for Star Wars and he said no cause it would have bored him. He sure didn't seem to mind doing 3 of them and i am sure he doesn't made making money off 3 of them. What a jerk

 

Oh, god….that doesn't make him a jerk. And to be fair, we love Wedge, but it wasn't exactly the meatiest of roles….

 

Okaaay, this thread is just wrong, to each their own. He doesn't want to do it who cares?

Sometimes I lay awake at night because of this. I'm in therapy 3 times a week discussing how Rogue Squadron will never be complete.

 

How can you say that? Dennis has been like a brother to you!

 

I'm fine with him turning it down because the story would be better served if a few characters died between ROTJ and Episode VII.

Just give his proposed lines to Nien Nunb.

 

Wait till you find out how Sir Alec Guinness felt about that Galaxy Far, Far Away...

 

Ehh, if they ever do Rogue Squadron as a TV series, they'd have to recast him anyways... unless they pulled Band of Brothers thing and had Lawson playing 'old Wedge' or something.

 

He has grudge with Star Wars because he was a fairly accomplished theater actor who only got recognized to the masses through a children's space fantasy series. On top of that, his lines were dubbed.

To be honest, I don't hold it against him. No more than Alec Guinness despising the Star Wars phenomenon.

 

I'm a huge fan of both Wedge and Denis Lawson, and I'd have loved to see him in Episode 7 - but he's a busy actor, and I can't fault him for not wanting to disrupt his life for what would probably have been a brief cameo. I just hope that if there's ever a well-written X-Wing show in the works he'd be open to coming back for a meatier role. Check him out as the villain in The Machine.
I certainly don't know him personally, but I don't see any reason to believe he's a "jerk". He seems like a genuinely great guy from what I know about his encounters with Star Wars fans. The least you can do is show some respect in kind.

They'll probably be wanting to capitalize on the ST era and conflicts. In that case, Denis has aged perfectly into the role of the veteran, stern father-figure CO with a secret heart of gold.

 

Dennis has every right to turn down a role that doesn't interest him; Wedge is hardly pivotal to the plot. He's a successful and highly respected actor in the UK and doesn't need Hollywood to further his acting ambitions which I would've thought was patently obvious from his decision to say no.

I always find it weird that they asked Lawson back but not Billy Dee.

 

What no in before the lock. You guys are failing. This thread would probably do better in SWC and even then needs more meat then just hearing it. Find an article and post it there.
