yeah, well in this case the creator's real world views have basically turned me off from this franchise completely

Fair enough. Not me. For me her quotes have been taking out of context and have not been bullying anyone in any kind of way. They have been twisted and missinterpreted. But that is just me.

The "taken out of context" defense stopped being plausible, at best, 4 years ago. (Good, up-to-date history of her public transphobia.) And she does bully randos on Twitter.

Ended up seeing the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Never read the stage book, seemed like not a great way to experience it. It's really solid as a play as it's, kind of, a magic show. Lots of on stage visual trickery, which is neat because it's a story about wizards. And the spectacle is great, they shoot fire at one point, that was nifty. And someone gets eaten by a bookcase, transform into other people, and jumps through time portals, Dementors fly above the crowd, all on stage in real time, it's pretty spectacular. (There's some slow motion techno dancing scene transition bits that don't work quite that well)

There's a bit on the Hogwarts Express where they're on top of the train and the snack lady shows up on top of the roof of the freaking train, it looked cool and I kept wondering if/when they do a movie adaptation that would be a full bore (and potentially awesome) action scene. Also it was pretty wacky that the snack lady is the one who keeps the students in line from jumping the train and is some knives handed monster.

It's definitely way way inside the lore of Harry Potter as it's a sequel. Saw it with some family members and 14 year old niece and I, who read all the books and watched the movies, were able to roll with some moments that really hinge upon knowing the series. The 12 year old niece just wanted 3 hours of magic stuff and less talking.

I sort of knew but didn't know spoilers and was completely wrong on some things I knew. It is a time travel story, so there's lot of jumping in particular to the events of Goblet of Fire (there's that continuity again). As for parentage revelations

I thought it was Scorpius who was the child of Voldemort - and they mention it in the first five minutes of the play as a rumour - but there's a whole other daughter of Voldemort who shows their true villainy in the 3rd act. Someone calls her the "Ultimate Horcrux" but I'm assuming that speaking metaphorically as Voldemort has a child. They full on say in the play, which was the one thing I did know, that the child is from Voldemort and Beatrix LeStrange, but like I said, I thought that was Scorpius going in.

Anyway best Alt timeline was the Harry Potter dies and Voldemort Hogwarts with Snape still around. It's only a short bit at the start of Act II but it's great, very alt Back to the Future II style.

I think a new TV version may expand Bellatrix's role/presence making it start earlier also.

Given her earlier role as Missy, I think Michelle Gomez would make an excellent Bellatrix Lestrange.

Just doing the Graphorn quest in Hogwarts Legacy and marvelling how the music for this bit is a complete and blatant rip off of the How To Train Your Dragon theme. :p

So I just can’t bring myself to finish Legacy. The story is just not fun at all. And I kinda don’t know why. Actually maybe I do. It’s characters feel just so bland to me. The voice acting feels stale as well. Not much emotion as far as I got into the game. It’s been like over 2 months gave it up shortly before finals. And just realized I didn’t like it and was just playing it because I felt like I had to get my money’s worth. I have more fun playing fallout 76 mindlessly leveling up and that’s barely fun.

it’s a shame as the game has some fun mechanics, but the story bores me half to death and the characters. Yawn.

As it's a AAA single player game, I'm assuming it'll be a PS+ freebie sometime next year, or when it's half priced

"Had more fun playing Fallout 76" - damn, even with F76 being in a better state these days, that's still quite the burn!

Could see myself giving it a go as a free PS+ title.

Anything is worth it if it’s free. As I said the game has some fun mechanics, but it’s story is well it’s boring. And it’s characters don’t help. And I am the type of person who rarely gives up on a game or anything for that matter. And tries for the life of me to find the good of something but I just can’t. Story in single player games is the most important aspect of a game. And on that Legacy fails. Well more on the character front anyway.

I am so glad for that scene. That and Half Blood helped make up for the 4th movie's out of character move. What upset me most about the 4th movie is that part of what makes Dumbledore so dangerous is the first time we actually see him angry and see why Harry understands him as the wizard Voldemort fears is when he busts in to save Harry from Barty. But they've already revved him up earlier in the film. And, it makes his distance from Harry in 5th even worse because of how aggressive he appears.

They course corrected in 6 and 7 and the King's Cross scene is probably the best scene that feels like Dumbledore. I also realize this isn't fair to Gambon as he was directed to act a certain way and clearly the directors did not want him to follow Richard Harris and his model. So I don't blame him- I blame the directors.

It was shocking to see for the first time. It has the effect of making it clear how serious Harry’s name in the goblet is in a very sudden and efficient way.

Still not sure how I feel about the choice.

Yeah, I liked the portrayals in movies 6-8 and most of 5. In OOTP, Dumbledore is actually supposed to seem distant to Harry. And in Deathly Halllows, we really learn about his personal shortcomings (though more in the book).

3 and 4... I think it was mostly the writing, which was unfortunately the same time as the new actor.

If HP was being made as movies now, they'd probably have CGI-ed Harris into the rest of the movies.

I'm not so sure about that. The VFX tech will have gotten better over the years but that still might be too high a bar for it.

This came up in my OneDrive memories, I still think it's some really nice fanart of the next generation (all the Weasley grandkids, plus: Teddy Lupin, Scorpius Malfoy, and Luna's twins)

Also sorry for the double-post, but if there’s a DLC for Hogwarts Legacy, what things would you like to see added?
I think a plotline with the Giants and some Werewolves would be interesting. Maybe have a rogue basilisk and some dementors somewhere. Some pixies as common enemies in the wild. Exploring the Merfolk in the lake or sea would be good too. Maybe some Veela characters. Explore the early seeds of Grindelwald’s rise. Explore the ministry.

For fun, I know the big thing everyone wants to add to the game is Quidditch. As well as learning the Patronus charm and how to be an animagus. Have pets, companions, and more NPC interactions and social quests.
