Just to comment on something shara said a while back.

Actually comics are considered same level as canon as any of the books, or video games, by LFL LTD's policies. Which infact only lfl's polices count.

Only the movies trump any other form of media.(but that depends on ones definition of film or movies, that technically can cover alot of things in the star wars universe.)

Even books have had there fair share of jedi who had children in the prequel era.

My version was maybe he did fall her another Jeid and vice versa, but although she wanted to be with him, wouldn't let him because of his responsibilities. But that's my own fan fic...which btw, I need to work on. Dang I hate school sometimes.

 

I find it hard to imagine that a good-looking guy like Obi-Wan (as Ewan McGregor) remained celibate his entire life.

Besides, I always liked the idea of him being Mara's father.

I don't, however, think that he would just appear at a bar in Mos Eisley and hope to get lucky, however. Maybe his love was lost?

I don't see why that is. As someone already mentioned before, virginity is actually considered a GOOD thing in some cultures/religions... That doesn't make those who wish to follow those traditions sad or pathetic, even if modern society has somehow managed to associate virginity with social status...

LOL! Yea... an attractive man would have a hard time being celibate... But it's not entirely impossible to resist accepting any "invitations". It just shows the strength of his character and his devotion to the Jedi Order.

Its not like we see every second of every Jedi's even in books! A lot happens "off screen" who knows what jedi did or did not do. Its not like Jedi consider sex a bad thing?

And I believe I read that Obi-Wan was stated to be reckless as a youth, he wasn't always a conservative person. I believe that was in Rogue Planet,I'll have to check.

 

I just finished Shadow hunter. (paper back). It doesn?t say if he had a relationship but it did mention he thought that the other paddawan in the story was "not bad to look at". I am paraphrasing a bit

If he was someone who was strictly forbidden or never planned to have a relationship I would think he would suppress thoughts like that. Or at least Check himself when he had them.

If he does have some relationship over the years I am sure it was with another Jedi and she is long gone since the purge. If she was also in hiding you would think she would have hid with him.

That is unless two Jedi hiding together is to easy to find?? I don't know. Sorry just some of my rambling.

Anyway, I think that he had flings and these semi-serious relationships with other padawans (Not specifying the gender, as I am a very-open-minded person....) like people in RL have in high scholl and such.

On the question of the importance of virginity... I don't think it's something to be ashamed. But I'm not saying one should be married before having sex, either.
The importance of virginity is different for every person. To some, it is a cherished thing, to others it's an obstacle.

I doubt he was a virgin. Who said you had to have a relationship to have sex. I'm betting he had female friends "with benefits", . You don't need to love the person that you're having sex with. Hell, I never loved any of the girls that I've had sex with, . Obi-Wan could have been a big time stud. Sleeping around doesn't mean you're turning to the dark side.

 

Ceifer's right. The Jedi code during the prequel era merely restricts Jedi from succumbing to emotion. Sexual endeavors can be experienced without emotions being involved.

 

Pleasure is an emotion. A very primal emotion.

Well they can't do anything that gives pleasure. Having Sex gives pleasure, which would be having an emotion. Jedi can't do things that give them emotions. So anything that gives the primal emotion of pleasure would be off-limits.
