Maybe this is why I am a Sidious fan because the Jedi are for the most part nameless faces to me, and the ones that are developed annoy me. Yoda is a stooge. Anakin asks him real life questions, and Yoda's best answers are on par with a television evangelist's. Anakin was really suffering, and Yoda didn't seem to really care. No wonder he went elsewhere. Mace is no better. Obi Wan was ok, but he just seemed weak to me for the most part. Too bad Qui Gon got killed...he was the only Jedi that I really liked as a character.

The portrayal of the Jedi outside of the main character Jedi is very disappointing in this entire trilogoy. They are weak and nearly nonexistent in their golden-age. It is one thing to have them taken out easily in AOTC by super battledroids, but it stings a little when you find out in ROTS that super battledroids are basically retarded and communicate through baby-talk. The last straw is the Temple raid. Anakin faces no Jedi and again, the Jedi as a whole are nonexistent.

I agree, but the story is more about Anakin than the other Jedi. (I'm not saying it couldn't have been done differently though.)

    I can respect that.

TPM presents the idea that we will be introduced to a hosts of Jedi. All species, personalities, and characteristics. When we get down to it, it's a busload of fanfilm extras that are poured onto the set in an impersonal sequence that it far from epic.

    The Jedi did deserve more.

Neo, this is ESPECIALLY true in the Arena scene in AOTC.

Man, some of those "Jedi" seemed like dudes they pulled off the street and put in a robe.

Especially that ratty looking guy who tosses Anakin and Obi sabers.

the jedi did deserve more, it's a shame that things didn't work out differently.

Yeah I noticed the ratty guy! Have you ever purposely focused on them during the fight scene instead of on Mace or Obi Wan? Talk about some clunky choreographing. It is like they just handed them a lightsaber prop and told them to go play in the dirt and stab at rocks. Then in the extras stuff, Nic Gillard talks about how he gave each Jedi a special way of fighting showing one of these minimum wage-if-that-extras twirling two sabers. It is kind of funny.

Still, I love that movie and ROTS, so I'm not here to bash, but I agree we could have gotten a better portrayal of the Jedi...though it does make it more plausible that Palps took them down!

Yeah i agree that the Jedi wern't on a whole portrayed aswell as they couldve been, but then again we are also supposed to be shown that the Jedi are not invincable. If for example we had seen all the Jedi as these really powerful warriors throughout TPM and AOTC, then their extermination from the galaxy wouldn't of been as easy to fathom. Still i think that we couldve seen a little more of them kicking ass.

The guy that jumps up onto the balcony in AOTC and gets instantly shot down by Jango is the worst Jedi ive ever seen.

The dinosaur guy! I wish I could remember the name of the dinosaur he is modeled after. I get a kick out of seeing that scene every time.

And old Ben made it sound so exciting. Let us have a moment of silence for the fallen dream of the Jedi being portrayed with dignity and consideration...

Ok. Is that trooper riding a large blue slug in the right top corner of the banner? And if so, is that in the movie?

Most of the Jedi in the Geonosis arena were stuntmen. The rest were minor players wearing make up or were CGI. For the most part, Lucas was focused on those who had speaking lines.

I only feel for them, since I'm familiar with most of them from the expanded universe. I think that Lucas didn't go into too much detail, since there were so many to begin with. Out of all the pilots in the OT, only Biggs Darklighter and Wedge Antilles had the most character to them. Wes Janson, Jek Porkins, Dak, Hutch, Zev, Tycho Clechu were there as filler.

Look up Parasaur on the web. It is Coleman evolved! He probably kept the same size brain thus limiting his ability to learn how to fight.

They looked as though, well, they looked like I trained them. And there wasn't nearly enough of them out there. We get whats supposed to be an epic scene of grand scale and yet you can drive a HUMMER from one guy fighting a droid to the next without hitting anything.

If this scene was going to be driven by extras, why not load the arena with extras in a thicker BRAVEHEART quantity. Then make the exclusive scenes count with something cool. Not people kicking over droids going "YAH!". And having Fisto take five minutes to topple a droid as if the force-push was just taught to him six minutes ago.. By me.

I don't know. I see Anakin's journey and eventual fall into the darkside as kind of metaphoric for why we aren't supposed to care about them.

They seemed really removed from what was going on around them and nearly powerless to stop it.

    Just a thought.

All of the extras filmed their scenes separately. Save for the group shot of them charging the Battle Droids coming out of the gate, all of the actors and stuntmen filmed their scenes in groups of three or four. They were then inserted together, so that way they didn't bang into each other.

i think the main reason why we get alot of people siding with sidious and the sith is because the jedi were so weakly potrayed
