When I read the Book of the Sith, there is a passage mentioned about the different force powers such as cryokinesis, and convection.

I wonder, why would not see these powers in more in the Expanded Universe at least ? Palpatine was meant to be master of Force lightning, and therefor we saw it in the movies, later we see Dooku was using the same power, but we never get others such as convection and cryokinesis.

As well as lightning is extremely good in the use combat, still I would like to Palpatine or Plagueis using convection on his victim or cryokinesis.

Convection would be also nice, since we know that Mandalore warriors are capable of using a flamethrower in battles, it would be nice to see a Sith using this power.

Seeing this in a lightsaber duel would be awesome.

Or cyrokinesis ? Using the force to make your opponent freeze would be awesome.

In short, if lightning is possible to use it in battles, and it becomes like a phenomenon in the Star Wars expanded universe, I would also like to see the other elemental powers in action too.

From what's been suggested about Force cryokinesis, it doesn't act as an ice blast or a "frost spell," but rather a lowering of a target object's temperature. The Book of Sith depiction, while not inaccurate, runs rather counter to depictions of the power's use by Plo Koon, who was known to freeze small rivers and lakes (although that's also been suggested to be a whole different power, Alter Environment).

Pyrokinesis, OTOH, could entirely be fire blasts, fire manipulation, or even fire absorption, much as it's depicted in superhero comics. Bothan Jedi Master Knol Ven'nari was a master of pyrokinesis, although she did have limits on what she could absorb. Unlike cryokinesis, which the Wook suggests is strictly a Sith power, pyrokinesis is available to any trained Force-sensitive (although I would be suspicious of multiple Jedi suddenly pretending to be the Human Torch :p

I remember Jaina creating a path of ice across a lake in The Crystal Star.

We see Dooku levitate himself some way into the air in the old CW series, at least - before dropping down into the arena to face Ventress.

    http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Telekinesis

Force Flight was a Force power that enabled the user to telekinectically move themselves toward a specific destination, taking levitation (see above) to an extreme degree. To use this Force power took a great deal of concentration.
The Dark Jedi Maw was skilled in this power. After having his lower body severed by the Jedi Qu Rahn, Maw initially relied on a repulsorlift for transport, but he soon learned to wield Force Flight so well that it became second nature. Darth Tyranus,[30] Darth Vader, and Darth Sidious[31] may have also possessed this power, being able to hover above the ground in standard gravity. The Dark Jedi Yun may have possessed this ability as well, to some degree. His master, Jerec, also possessed this power, demonstrating it in the Valley of the Jedi. Luke Skywalker could use this power, as he demonstrated on several occasions. His wife had also learned this skill by 40 ABY. The ancient Sith Lord Darth Thanaton was also able to use the Force to levitate, yet with better control to such a degree that he could indeed fly.[10] Ganner Rhysode once mentioned to Corran Horn that he could levitate them both for almost a kilometer—but that it would be highly energy-consuming. It is possible that Force Flight had some relation to Floating Meditation, a meditation technique where the user floated several inches off the ground during meditation.

common Davik have a sense of humor....hahaha. On a more serious note, I never understood the Darth Thanaton one though. He just rode force lightening up to a ledge unless some of you actually played the game and can say he actually flew. In TCW series the Ones had that ability, albeit changing into different creatures and the Father would spur the wings. In the Ewok comic book, Mulrag was able to levitate/fly as seen not only on the cover of issue 12 but the story inside when Wicket says, "Look she is flying to that try." Well that series was weird just like that last comic has a star trek transporter. Still, it was all marvel and all fun.

The thing with these elemental powers is that they can end up looking like generic magic slinging if done badly. How many fantasy franchises have some sort of fire or frost spell? Almost all of them. So it's important to give them a unique twist to make them Star Wars.

It could be less 'putting cold in' then 'taking heat out', so rather then a 'frost beam' it may be a 'heat vacuum'

I think as we move into this new canon and version of star wars, the force will be expanded and amplified in different forms, so I expect the powers to grow

That would be nice. I liked seeing rarely used abilities in the old EU.
