Clearly, Grogu was rescued from the Temple by Darth Maul. It was an act of amazing heroism and cost Maul his life, but he got better. Again.

We need to discuss "the tragedy" of how that episode opened with Grogu not responding to Din unless he was called by his proper name and Din later continued to try to get his attention on the Seeing Stone by calling him "kid". Would he have responded had he heard his name?

I'm gonna need a rescue of my own, because I'm trapped in the hollow sadness left behind when Grogu and Din parted ways.

Somehow this has only increased my dislike of the ST. Couldn't sleep thinking about what happens between end of Chapter 16 -> end of ST.

    Is Grogu alive?
If yes, why is Rey the considered the last Jedi?

My hope is that Din and Grogu at some point in the future need to confront a threat outside the galaxy/deep in the Unknown Regions, and that they were too far away to assist during the ST/avoided the whole stupid Jedi Academy ordeal.

Not every force user needs or should be a Jedi. I feel like they set up a scenario fairly strongly where Grogu doesn't go down that path between his connection to Din and Ahsoka's line about letting him choose his own fate. I see no reason why Luke can't help him refine his force abilities and then he returns to Clan Mudhorn.

Also worth mentioning that Yoda called Luke 'last of the Jedi' in RotJ and that wasn't actually true in either Legends or Canon.

I'm pretty sure they'll just retcon the whole "Last Jedi" status as the Knights of Ren shattered the organization and Luke considers himself to be the Last Jedi because none of his students graduated.

I mean, TROS already retconned it by revealing that yes, Leia did train with Luke in the ways of the Jedi, complete with making her own lightsaber. She's technically not a Jedi because she literally stopped her training on her very last day with a premonition of Ben Solo or something like that. This also conveniently gives Rey a Jedi Teacher that isn't a Force Ghost for her one year of training.

But the main problem probably is this: how many people will tune into the series if Grogu is gone for good from the show ? Baby Yoda since chapter one was the talk of town , merchandise selling miracle, yadda, yadda, yadda.
I'm really curious to see how this unfold.

He'll be back mid season I reckon.
Yoda's little spaceship will land down next to Mando and now he has a lightsaber.

The Showrunners have already said they know the heart of the show is the relationship between Din and Grogu.

As far as the Jedi Temple...Ashoka saw something in him that didn't give her the inclination to train him. When Luke peers into his eyes (and likely mind) when he picks Grogu up,he gets a look of befuddlement on his face, like he found something unexpected. I think Luke starts the training, but at a certain point he realized Grogu isn't going to work as a Jedi,or Grogu decides he doesn't want to do it and hooks back up with Din. To make it realistic however, I wouldn't have it til Season 4 at the earliest.

There's nothing wrong with Grogu being dead by the time of ST as well. If it serves the story to kill him, kill him. Characters shouldn't be kept alive simply because they're popular and sell toys. But I know this is not how corporations think.

Grogu is by far the character I have the most interest in, and I know I’m not the only one.

Right. It's not a leap also that Grogu "graduated" by then and is off who knows where possibly with Din. Personally I'd be happier w/him choosing you know this Jedi thing isn't for me. I want to go w/my dad and be a Force sensitive Mandalorian.

    That'd be awesome.

I agree have it be later where maybe he's a stronger. You have to admit though the relationship is the heart of it and probably changed Din beyond belief. You realize there's more to life than credits.

Luke said that he would train him to defend himself, not that "he will be a Jedi", if you are to be literal.

I foresee (!) that he will say hello to daddy in holovid form in the first episode of next season just to appease us viewers..

Im not 100% certain of that.

I have been thinking about Grogu and Luke's Academy.

Maybe he will be trained by Luke but decide to eventually stop his training, which is why he isn't at the Academy when it burns.

Or Disney might shock the star wars audience again and Grogu continues to be one of Lukes students and dying because of it.

It is interesting that we were not given a picture of all of Lukes (12 students plus Ben Solo) when we got a flashback to a group of them in the Rise of Kylo Ren comic. Maybe there was an intentional reason for that........

Even if Grogu dies, the child still has around 20 years before that happens. Still plenty of time for more stories about him. It sure wouldn't be the first time Disney introduces a Jedi character who we all knew has a unlikely chance to survive into an upcoming trilogy.....*ahem* Kanan in Rebels.

Grogus death can also be used to further the depression of ST era Luke. It's bad enough that all of his students minus Ben were killed. But what is also sad about Grogus death is that he is apart of a rare and strong in the force species, who happens to be very long lived. Im sure Luke saw Grogu as apart of his Jedi legacy that would last hundreds of years into the future. Helping to train generations of future Jedi. For Grogu to die before he even reaches 100, is a loss of so much potential.

My guess is that there will be a time jump. And at some point next season, while Din is dealing with Bo-Katan and Mandalore, he’ll have to reconnect with Grogu, who is still technically a foundling. And Grogu will then enter the story of the retaking of Mandalore. I still haven’t dropped the idea that Grogu is the Mandalorian referenced in the title. And that he may even be the next Mandalor. He’s not just a Jedi padawan anymore, because he has a Mandalorian father for a while, and was lost in darkness for a long while before that. He has a mixed identity.

I’m predicting it. At some point, a massive crowd of armored Mandalorians will all bow down to the green, diminutive King Grogu.

I don't think there is a single scenario in which Grogu dies. He is the most popular SW character since the OT came out. There is no way in hell Disney allows for him to die.

Grogu will be one of the surviving jedi students and will be Luke's legacy. Rey will find them and together they will restart the jedi order. This time it aint one restarting it all but rather a collective of different jedi.

That is such a beautiful moment between Din, Grogu and Luke.

Like a child's first day at school. There is that initial fear and then all of a sudden, they (Grogu) make a friend (R2D2) and then everything is alright.

Just about every parent knows that moment and it brings a smile to your face when you think back to those / that day(s).

Grogu and Din will meet again.... that's a given. But first, Grogu needs to learn his A, B, C's and his 1, 2, 3's.

I believe there will be a timejump.

A trained Grogu will arrive in the nick of time to save Din Djarin from some predicament.

It just clicked. Grogu will be training with Luke and he will leave to save Din before he's completed his training. It writes itself.
