Vows and The Silver Falcon are two really good episodes that I just rewatched yesterday. We see how Xanatos becomes a "self-made man" in Vows where with Demona's help and the Phoenix Gate, he goes back in time and saves a Princess from a gang of thieves and the Prince, who was about to marry her, gives him some coins. I love that part at the end when his father gives him an American penny as a wedding present, "it may not be worth much now, but in 1000 years, who knows? It's all you seem to care about".

The Silver Falcon is kind of a noir atmosphere involving Tony Dracon's mob and goes back to the roaring '20s gangsters. If I remember my Gargoyles episodes correctly, Dominic Dracon (Tony's grandfather) returns in another episode with a sort of Funhouse for Goliath to find his way out of.

Ah ok. In Falcon you just assumed Malone was long dead.

Yup, that's what you're supposed to assume until Matt Bluestone has Revelations.

As I'm watching these episodes, I'm trying to be reminded of how the Archmage during the post-Avalon episodes ultimately gets his hands on the Grimorum if Xanatos is supposed to have it in the future. It might be one of those odd space-time paradoxes where Demona travels back in time with the Phoenix gate and just gives him the book (or he takes it from her). I think I'm still a handful of episodes away from the Avalon arc.

If you want to see how the Grimorum gets to Xanatos, you'll have to check out the comic.

I didn't even know there was a comic. Just got through the four-part City of Stone arc. That's the one where Demona and Macbeth's story is revealed for the first time. It's always poignant to see Demona's password, "Alone" to unlock Xanatos' bombs from going off prematurely. I guess I spoke too soon about the DVDs I bought. In at least two of the four episodes of this arc, the sound was just completely off from animation. I wound up just buying Seasons 1 and 2 (both volumes) on Target Online. Should get them about a week from Monday.

Since I was born in 1980ish, I never got to experience the "Luke, I am your father" reveal in real time.

The reveal of Puck's identity later on, is to me just as shocking.

You know what's interesting I picked up during my rewatch of the City of Stone was when Demona finds Owen at Pack Media Studios and she almost matter-of-factly calls him the "tricksy one". I wonder if that was meant to be a subtle hint for a much later episode.

What are everyone's favorite, most-rewatchable, epsodes?

For me, I love the series as a whole, some favorite episodes are (in chronological order):

    Vows (Xanatos's wedding)
    the Avalon/Archmage 3-parter
    Sanctuary (in Paris)
    Hound of Ulster (in Ireland)
Walkabout (in Australia with the Nanotech Matrix Singularity and Titania's alias)
    the Green (in Guatemala)
Sentinel (Easter Island with the alien)
Ill Met by Moonlight (back in Avalon)
Future Tense (everyone should know this)
The Gathering 2-parter (the return to Manhattan and birth of Xanatos's son with Oberon paying a visit)

Funniest one: the guy that keeps having bad luck running into the Gargoyles and shoots Goliath and Hudson with pie

Scariest one: when Demona turns everyone that watches tv to stone and then starts killing them. Couldn't believe they showed this on the Disney afternoon

The Avalon episodes certainly have a special place in my heart. Future Tense was a great one, as well as The Gathering 2-parter. Really any episode featuring Demona and her vulnerability was great IMO. The City of Stone arc of course was incredibly memorable; complete with the "double double toil and trouble..." scene with Macbeth and Duncan.

I know what you mean. I just rewatched those episodes recently and was like man......that's harsh.

Just got the Gargoyles DVD shipment from Target yesterday (all three sealed).

I re-watched "High Noon"; which features Demona and Macbeth working together; courtesy of the Weird Sisters. That episode pretty much answered my question as to how the Archmage would later obtain all of the magic items during the Avalon episode arc.

Watched a few more episodes. Revelations is the one we talked about earlier where Bluestone finds Mace Malone who takes Goliath through the obstacles of the Hotel Cabal. Double Jeopardy was a special one that introduced Thailog for the first time. I like the bonus features of the official DVD where the creator introduces each episode; it didn't even dawn on me that T-H-A-I-L-O-G was G-O-L-I-A-T-H spelled backwards lol. He's an interesting character. I can't imagine too many people could've predicted the plot twist at the end.

Just watched "The Price" last night. That was really an underrated episode IMO. Excellent dialogue between Hudson (Ed Asner) and Xanatos (Jonathan Frakes). It's the last one before the Avalon arc begins.

The Avalon arc definitely has quite a handful of special moments. I always get a kick out of the Archmage getting angry and yelling at his younger self; almost akin to Biff Tanan doing the same thing in BTTF2. Of course it's Angela's introduction, and she's easily my favorite character after Demona. Recently I've thought about Princess Katherine's relationship with Tom, and how it reminded me of Anakin's relationship with Padme. Tom was still a young boy while Katherine must've been in at least her late teens when Castle Wyvern was invaded, but when they lived together on Avalon for so long "they became as husband and wife", as the Magus tells Elisa. I always thought it was weird how Padme became so close to Anakin in such a relatively short amount of time; beyond even just thinking of him as a brother. At least Tom and Katherine were always together.

Been rewatching a handful of episodes over the past few days. Walkabout was a great episode featuring the introduction of Anastasia Renard; Fox's mother, Halcien's (sp) ex-husband, and of course who would eventually be revealed as Titania. It also features a very pregnant Fox. Makes you wonder how often you've ever seen a character in a cartoon pregnant like that before or since. Mark of the Black Panther features Elisa's mother; and the resolution that Goliath accepts Angela as his daughter and tells her how proud he is of her. Pendragon was a special episode in it of itself. Arthur, having left Avalon, winds up in London and befriends Griff. He ultimately regains Excaliber; and knights Griff at the end; vowing to look for Merlin. I don't remember if we see either Griff or Arthur; or Macbeth for that matter again.

I mean, Wilma Flintstone was visually preganant back in the 1960s on the Flintstones.

If you think about it, it's really kind of ridiculous you don't see more pregnant women in cartoons.

You know it's funny, I've been trying to find where I'd be able to buy the comics set; but they're pretty rare and therefore go for a hefty price on eBay. My local comic shop had a single Gargoyles comic but I didn't bother buying it because it was like # 4 or 5 in the series.

I re-watched The Gathering arc (among others) recently. That's certainly a climax moment for the series. It kind of reminded me of the X-Men stories where Magneto's brotherhood joined forces with the X-men to take on a powerful foe. And of course anyone who's studied Shakespeare had to get a kick out of Oberon's, "A Midsummer Night's Dream" reference at the end.

Watched The Reckoning episode last night. An interesting episode where Demona and Thailog work with Sevarius to create a clone "clan"; which happens to include Thailog's sneaky little secret behind Demona's back, Delilah.

It's cool seeing a character with Elisa's voice being a true villain (not counting when she worked undercover).

Best quote to date, "Some of my best friends are half-gargoyle, half-human babes with bad attitudes" [face_laugh][face_laugh] - Fang (voiced by Jim Belushi) when Demona threatens him early in the episode when she's escaping with Thailog.
