I was curious what do y'all think Vader thought of Luke? In the end was he proud? Who do ya think Luke takes after, Ani or Padme? Thanks :)

Yeah, I reckon he was proud of Luke. It seemed like it to me at the end when he ws a force ghost, he saw that Luke had become a powerful Jedi like him, perhaps even stronger as he didn't succumb to the Dark Side like Anakin did.

As for who did Luke take after, I'd definitely say Anakin. Both were impatient, and both good pilots too.

I think he was proud of Luke, especially after he met with him in ROTJ for the first time in the film. "Indeed you are Powerful" after he found Luke to constuct his own lightsaber, it seemed it then dawned on Vader that Luke was powerful, and as Vader being the father he must of got a sense of satisfaction that his powers had passed on, it may be more of the Anakin coming out in Vader but either way he recognises Luke's power which I think could make Vader proud. When Vader's helmet is removed he looks on Luke like he is proud of him.

I would say he has more of the qualities of Anakin but has the good points of Padme as well.

At first I'd say it was an arrogant 'the boy's like me' kinda
way. Later on I'd say it changed to something a little more and
based out of pure pride minus the arrogance.

I'm not sure how proud Vader was of Luke, although he did admire his proficiency on Endor. However, I'm pretty sure Anakin was very proud of Luke just before he died, and even as a force ghost.

I'd say he was very proud of Luke. He also saw in Luke what he could have/should have been. When Luke could not be turned, that is when he realized that Luke was stronger than he was, and I think when he looks at him, you do see love and admiration in his eyes.

When you see his eyes, he's back to Anakin, not Vader. Hence my previous post.

Exactly. I couldn't put that any better.

As for who Luke takes after... Anakin, definitely Anakin. Leia also takes after Padme for the most part.
Of course, both of those are at least slightly products of where they were hidden - Luke on Tatooine (like Anakin) and Leia on Alderaan, a world not that dissimilar from Naboo.

I agree. In a lot of ways Luke was raised very similar to the way Anakin was. Luke obviously was not a lsave, but he did have to work in the desert. He also had friends who taught him how to fly. Anakin had his own pod, I mean they are both farm boys i you think bout it.

Leia was raised basically how Padme was raised, a politician and someone who was royalty. Padme was Queen of Naboo for a time, and Leia was Princess of Alderaan as well as a member of the "Imperial Senate".

I do think that throughout the movie though, Anakin (not vader) even while in the armor was very proud of what Luke had become. He also knew that deep down Luke was right about his struggel with the Dark Side and his wanting to overcome it. So was he proud? Very!

    Hell yeah.

Luke turned out to be everything that AnakinVader should have been.

He had a crash course in Jedi training and went to confront Vader and Palps on his own.

    He saved the galaxy.

no doubt about it. He wants to look at him with his own eyes because of how proud he was at that moment, he had redeemed him from the torments of the dark side. And when we see Anakin as a ghost (Shaw) he has the biggest smile possible, he's definetely proud of Luke. Hayden's version of the ghost isn as expressive though. . . .

Impressive, most impressive.that about describes Vader's pride on how Loke has progressed as a jedi.Loke may have inherited Anakin's impatience, but not his arrogance.Han did warned Luke not to be cocky. That's Han's job after all.[face_laugh]

Yes, Anakin was proud of Luke after destroying the Emperor, because Luke had gone to such lengths to save him. Also, Luke represented all the good that was still in Anakin, even when he was still having doubts over his goodness at the end. At least, that's according to the ROTJ novel.

I think he was proud the moment he knew Luke was his son and that Luke was the one who fired the shot to take out the deathstar. All the arrogant Imperial officers that had supreme faith in this ultimate weapon....Vader knew this station was nothing next to the force. Luke proved him right.

Vader was indeed proud of Luke, but Anakin was even prouder of his son and deeply grateful.

I'd have to say, from my point of view, that Luke has qualities of BOTH parents. He looks just like Anakin, and although he's impatient and a tad whiney (a true Skywalker trait, it seems), his personality is a lot like Padme's. Think about it...the last words Padme ever says are "There is still good in him, I know there is still good in him". Throughout ROTJ, Luke tells anyone that will listen that "I know there is still good in him". It's Padme's strength and heart that shows through in Luke.

Same with Leia. While she obviously inhereted her mother's looks, she's every bit as bullheaded, stubborn, and arrogant as Anakin was (Which is why I firmly believe she would have been a thousand times easier to turn to the Dark Side). Also keep in mind that she doesn't utter two words about it when Luke tells her who their father is, nor does she seem to even care enough about him to look at his Force Ghost (which always kind of irked me).

As for the other question, without a doubt, Anakin (and Vader) was extremely proud of Luke, and I'm sure Padme was too.
