Voted by mail a few weeks ago as I hate walking into the polling station and being accosted outside by volunteers with pamphlets.

In 2016, I was harassed by Trumpers near a polling place who assumed I was Hispanic, telling me that illegals can’t vote. I replied “Come ******” and kept walking.

"At each primary election and general election, the county clerk shall maintain voting booths in the county as follows:
    (a)
In each county with 35,000 or more electors in the county, the county clerk shall maintain a number of voting booths equal to at least one voting booth for every 20,000 electors in the county; and
    (b)
In each county with fewer than 35,000 electors in the county, the county clerk shall maintain at least one voting booth."

    https://oregon.public.law/statutes/ors_254.474

They have voting booths, and according to a report called "How We Voted in 2022", they're not even the state that had the highest percentage of votes by mail (that'd be Washington). And Utah, Colorado, and Hawaii are all at well over 80% vote by mail as well. Though mail also was dominating in California, Arizona, Vermont, Montana, and Vermont.
With some counties in California being essentially mail-only, but others still have polling places while mailing everyone a ballot. As a more hybrid example

I used to vote by mail years ago as a student if I wasn't in my state during an election, but when I was transfered for work outside the US several things happened that made me realize votes going through the overseas military addresses aren't always getting counted. Some states make it easy. but others make it nearly impossible. I am registered for FL, and I absolutely don't trust their system anymore. So I'm going in person now, which is a pain but worth it for this election.

We vote via mail since Illinois is a sane state and allows you to opt into voting my mail automatically so we got our ballots early last week and sent them in on Friday. Done and done.

I've voted via mail since 2020 because Minnesota is also a sane state but probably not as sane as Illinois :(

Honestly this poll is way more even than I thought. I thought mail in would be dominating

I'm envious of the people who can vote by mail OR in person early. We can't because of the MAGAs in the state government

@Jedi Knight Fett Post pandemic people are going back to voting in person more plus MAGA states are making it difficult by mail or even vote in general. Again Illinois allows you to opt into voting by mail permanently by just checking one box. But we are the exception instead of being the norm.

I’ve done mail-in in the past, but I’m going in person since I’m off work that day. I want to make sure my vote is counted.

California uses a "Ballotrax" system that sends me an email when my votes are tallied. *bear flag emoji*

Will be early voting in person this week. Haven't voted by mail since I was a student. Even in 2020 pre-vax covid days, when I never went anywhere, I double masked and went to early vote in person. I always do the research in advance and bring a filled-out sample ballot so I can remember what I decided on every single judge, amendment, etc.

This is really a topic for a separate thread (I almost tried to make a parody thread for it based on this one, but I decided my parody title wasn't clever enough to pass muster), but my election anxiety is really starting to go through the roof. Whenever I stop to remember how close this nightmare of an election is getting, I start to feel physically sick and there's still 2 weeks (plus probably another week until results are known) to go.:(

What helps me is two fold. Volunteering (writing postcards calls texts whatever) and just not reading polls or news. If it’s important my mom or uncle will tell me. Me reading news isn’t effecting the election. Making calls is.

not that everyone can volunteeer but everyone can read less news

Civilized states should give the voters as many options as possible to ensure their vote matters. I’m dropping my ballot off on my way to work tomorrow, because I’d rather get it done early to avoid the lines and hassle.

I'm too lazy to figure out how to vote by mail, so I always just go vote in-person. I've never had to wait more than a few minutes in line.

Turns out this is the first election where we CAN vote in person early but there's only three locations for the whole metro and they're supposedly packed per the news.

Even if I have a busy no time for news day. As soon as I drive home and see all the damn signs my anxiety comes flooding back. You can't avoid seeing them, it sucks! I'll see 20 Harris signs in a row and one Trump sign spoils my whole mood

lol this. There are exactly 2 trump signs in my whole town and it makes me mad.

I have been deep into politics since I was 12 probably 11 I remember reading the news religiously for the election and even though I preferred Obama winning I was still okay with a Romney win. Hell I agreed with Romney on some things (specifically Russia)

just thought nice people being involved in the political process is great. Since I think trump is a threat to democracy that’s changed. Never thought that if Romney not one bit hell even if you apply this retroactively to almost every major political party candidate I wouldn’t have thought they a threat to democracy.
