For as long as Star Wars has existed, the Clone Wars has existed in the collective minds of Star Wars fandom as a key background story full of interesting possibilities. Then, when Boba Fett came onto the scene he brought with him the Mandalorian connection. This connection was explored in two key parts of the Star Wars saga.

The first was the Empire Strikes Back novellization. We learned essentially nothing more than that the Mandalorians fought the Jedi in the Clone War.

The second offered far more information. Star Wars issues 68 and 69. In it, Mandalorian Supercommando Fenn Shysha gives his account of what happened to the Mandalorians in the Clone Wars

"-- long years ago, when I was part of a group o' supercommandos charged with the ultimate protection o' Mandalore. It was a job I was proud of. But when Palpatine made his move to set up an Empire, the government o' Mandalore sent us inta the Clone Wars on the Emperor's side...
At any rate, the war was finally won -- but at the terrible cost, of two hundred an' twelve Mandalorian Protectors what went inta battle, only three survived.

Our chief officer, who'd become disenchanted with fightin' fer other people, set off on his own an' ended up the canniest bounty hunter in the known worlds. Tha, o' course was Boba Fett."
(Star Wars: A Long Time Ago Vol. 5)[hr][/ul]As one fan has recently said...
[ul]"For as long as Boba was part of the films and EU, I (and I guess other fans too) have been waiting to see the Mandalorians in action during the Clone Wars. Its not (only) a continuity fix, it has always been part of the Clone Wars mythos since the beginning and to ignore it now would be just plain ridiculous. I know the angles taken in the Clone Wars so far have been great, but I am surprised this important factor has not been included yet. The Mandalorians are PART of the Clone Wars, just as the Clone Troopers and the Jedi are also part of it. And the part about the Clone Troopers being from Jango (a Mandalorian) is not how the Mandalorians we perceived to be involved."[/ul]Do you agree?

Do you feel the first-hand account of the Mandalorians ought to be published beyond the current "background" account as seen in the ESB novellization and the original ongoing monthly Star Wars series?

I only recently caught up to Shysa and Daala in the 'Long Time Ago' reprint. Prior to that I had only seen their names in Boba Fett's entry in NEGTC. And the only other main source on the Mandalorians has been the 'Open Seasons' comics. Yes, I want to see the Mandalorians in the Clone Wars.

I don't really think I care at this point, maybe at some future date, but not just now.

    Wouldnt make sense so meh.
Fanboy dreams should wait for the a story before the PT to actually have some decent Mandalorian action.

It would make sense, as the story's already been established as having occured during this period of time.

He's right, Marvel's comics featuring Mandalorians during and after the clone wars are continuity.

Wait, were they on the side of the Republic or Separatists? The ESB novelization says they fought the Jedi, but that quote says they were on the Emperor's side (which admittedly could work either way), but then it says that the war was won, and since it's from the perspective of a Mandalorian
that would mean his side won. And we know the Republic won.

    And a quick question:

Our chief officer, who'd become disenchanted with fightin' fer other people, set off on his own an' ended up the canniest bounty hunter in the known worlds. Tha, o' course was Boba Fett."

How can a 10-13 year old boy be a chief officer?

Were the Mandalorians a major part of the war? If so, it might make them hard to fit in, what with all the other events of the war. The idea doesn't really do anything for me one way or another, but if people want it, I guess my idea is "Why not?" As long as it isn't too fanboy-pandering and out of place, and fits in nicely with the rest of the Clone Wars stuff.

This was long before Lucas decided to expand one of the EU's most personal characters.

Now I'd say that the Mandalorians were on the Confederacy's side, fighting for Dooku (like Jango's involvement). Now, according to open seasons the Mandalorians allready got their rears handed to them by the Jedi, most of them ended up dead.

I'll leave it up to the authors.

I'd find that pretty hard, considering wants to wipe them out.

I'd like to see a version of the story. But I have a hard time imagining a little kid leading the Mandalorians. Almost as bad as Boba killing Mace.

Actually Genghis12 has all your problems figured out. See this type of thread didn't begin here, but at DH.com. There Gen answered all questions.

If you want to go check it out, it's in the forum section under the thread called the Mandalorian Crusade.

That was only Jango's group. The rest of the Mandalorians are still alive and well during this time.

I try to forget the Mandalore's role in the PRequel Trilogy. I am sure we have heard plenty of Prequel trilogy bashing before......

So why not add another chapter. I now imagine the Mandalores the way they were presented in that masterpiece RPG for the X-Box called Star Wars: Knights of hte Old Republic. That is how I always imagined the Mandalores would be and that is how I am going to imagine them in my SW Universe.

DH should do it. I command them. My will, be done.
