Jedha John The issue 6 cover art and description practically give away who the Ordu Aspectu are. For those of you who don't care about spoilers I present my probably very accurate theory: Spoiler Robo Jedi! Spoiler
The interesting thing about the issue #6 cover is that the mechanic arm has Aphra's tattoo's, but Aphra herself doesn't. I'm not sure if the latter is because the cover artist forgot to draw her tattoo's, or if it's something intentional
I was just about to say that myself. I'm hoping we'll get an explanation of her tattoos, they always looked a bit unusual to me.
Dude Marvel looks to be starting this year right after the on and off that last year faced. Aphra is awesome, and the revel of issue #6's cover just builds my hype for some actual Lore! The Yoda arc is chugging along amazing, and the climax of that looks like it's going to be a lot of fun too. I just pray Aaron doesn't pull his crap where he botches the ending of an arc again. Then Maul looks set to finally give us some CW's inspired goodness! Can't wait!
Ewan Tibbetts I think your theory is right and jives with the screen rant article comparing this to the 1982 arc... Spoiler In the 1982 arc, Rur is a being digitally encoded into an ancient computer that lives forever (immortality). The Ordu Aspectu in the Doctor Aphra tale are probably ancient beings digitally encoded into these Robo Jedi (as you cell them). spicer "The interesting thing about the issue #6 cover is that the mechanic arm has Aphra's tattoo's, but Aphra herself doesn't. I'm not sure if the latter is because the cover artist forgot to draw her tattoo's, or if it's something intentional " I didn't notice that! Nice catch! Spoiler In the 1982 arc "Blind Fury" that may have inspired the Doctor Aphra arc, the Order has created a series of “soul-snares,” which sap the life from Force users. In Doctor Aphra #2, one version of the story has the Order draining the life energy of padawans in order to fuel their immortality. Maybe the cover of issue #6 is showing how the Order is sapping some of the life force of Aphra to power up and as a result take on some of her characteristics. Like Rogue from X-Men?
Nice theory. Spoiler If artificial intelligence turns out to be a theme of this arc Triple Zero will definitely be involved.
Just a random observation, Rur from the Ordu Aspectu looks a LOT like Dass Jennir. I wonder if Kev Walker based his appearance on Jennir, or the resemblance is purely coincidental. Spoiler
Hmm, Robo-Jedi. I'm interested to see where this arc goes. I'm loving the little bits of lore we're getting, and who would've thought that one of our first looks at the nucanon Old Republic era would come in the Aphra comic? Not me, but I'm not complaining!
Preview for issue #4 Spoiler From: https://jedi-bibliothek.de/2017/02/marvel-geletterte-vorschau-doctor-aphra-4/
That Imperial officer reminds me of a female Count Vidian with that cybernetic neck. She's like, what, the third Imperial with cybernetics we've seen in the new canon so far?
Alicia Beck, from Smuggler's Run, which was one of the Journey to TFA books released awhile back. She had a cybernetic eye and an awesome white uniform. I thought she was a neat character.
Finally got around to reading the first 3 issues. So far so good! So glad they decided to go with this series, I love the space-archeology stuff and learning more about Aphra's past. Also I love anything with the 2 murder droids.
That's the in-universe equivalent to Ancient Aliens. "WAS EMPEROR PALPATINE SECRETLY INFLUENCED BY A CABAL OF ROGUE DROIDS? FIND OUT TONIGHT, ON-
Read issue #4 today and WOW.... Spoiler The writer/artist team really know how to end an issue! Each of these first 4 issues have had special endings that draw you deeper into their world and leave you itching to learn what happens next. The last 4 pages of issue #4 are fantastic. Especially the two-page spread of the Citadel of Rur...gorgeous. The dialogue between Papa Aphra and Aphra back on the Ark Angel after their escape on their way to the citadel was very well done and their facial expressions during this dialogue and when they pull out of hyperspace (including Krrsantan's face) are very interesting and raw. Despite their questionable ethics, these characters are becoming more and more likeable. And that last page...have I wrote how much I love this comic?
It's funny just this morning I was wondering if there'd ever be a Vader down like Aphra crossover with the main star wars series..... And just in the last twenty minutes Star Wars: The screaming Citadel was announced! maybe I am Snoke
Spoiler I liked this issue but the bomb is very clearly yet to be dropped. The fortress doesn't look like a space station, perhaps it was teleported into that asteroid?
