I would just like to say Who doesn't love dinosaurs on a spaceship.

I really liked the episode, I didnt think it would be so funny. After finding out what Solomon did I expected the doctor to let something bad happen to Solomon.

I thought that kiss was really random.

Yeah, the testicle joke was not needed.

And I considered the Cassandra similarity, but the difference there is that in her case, the Doctors inaction led to her death. The opposite is true here.

Well found. And Mission 2110 was written by none other than Phil Ford...

First time, actually - in Series 1 it was Jack who kissed the Doctor.

And I love how random and spontaneous this was. It didn't feel a bit sexual - it was just an "OMG you're brilliant, I could kiss you!" moment of euphoria.

Yeah. I can't believe fandom (well actually, I can, it's fandom) has got worked up over that kiss. It's played for laughs and laughs only.

    EDIT:
Agreed. It was tame, but nonetheless inappropriate.

One of the things that won me over was that juxtaposition. Perhaps unfairly I had visions in my head of the dinosaurs being the sole and silly focus of proceedings. In reality, they were portrayed as victims along with the Silurians. There was dramatic weight attached to each and every one of them - because of Solomon. I wasn't expecting a villain as cold as him. A very impressive bastard. Chibnall made no attempt to humainse or play him for laughs. Ruthlessly killing (we suppose) all those Silurians in the pursuit of profit is utterly despicable. He was also pretty relaxed about leaving the ship behind to crash into Earth if he couldn't make it turn around (profit if I can, scarper if I can't). And yes, The Doctor made some choices I never thought he would have to make in an episode marketed almost exclusively on one superficially silly premise. Under the surface there was a lot to think about. A very, very pleasant surprise.

    A couple other things:

    i) We all agree the robots were a blot, but there were a couple of moments that worked. Albeit in a bizarre sort of way. When one of them shot Rory's Dad, and when another (or the same one, I can't remember) killed Tricey. I'd got so used to these robots bickering and generally wasting their screen time, that when they coldly (without fanfare or even noticing what they were doing) became killers it shocked me more than it would've had they been nasty robots all the time.

ii) I liked the moment when Solomon attempted to value The Doctor, but the system didn't recognise him. The Doctor looked so satisfied.

Nevermind about the nursery question I asked last night. I missed the first couple of minutes of the ep (watching to see if thunderstorms were approaching), and tuned in just in time to see Brian go into shock over being on the TARDIS.

It was kind of lame, yeah, but how was it inappropriate? This is a show that has a fair amount of innuendo. Not to mention the violence and the very "adult" themes.

I just thought a joke about testicles in a kids show (and it is watched by lots of children) was a step too far. I don't recall (but expect to be reminded if I've forgotten) any jokes referencing genitalia in Doctor Who. Also, I can't believe I typed that.

I just watched "Amy's Choice" again, and the Doctor says he can't feel his hands and "other parts." Rory responds with something like "I can feel all my parts just fine." In another episode the Doctor and Rory talk about the "size" of something that's clearly referring to their own "sizes."

It's really bizarre to me that this is still treated as a kid's show, by the way. A program that explicitly deals with suicide, genocide, torture, slavery (the last episode heavily implied that Nefertiti would be used sexually), post-traumatic stress, and other things is meant for adults. Just because there's no blood (which is also bizarre since we frequently see people get shot), sex scenes, or heavy cursing does not mean it's appropriate for children.

Yes, but those are really innuendos that were meant for the adult/teenager portion of the audience - I don't think the kids would get them.

But here you have a triceraptos sniffing a man's crotch and the said man saying it's his balls. How more explicit can you get, on a kids' show? :p

Somebody on another blog made an interesting comment about this conversation between Amy and Eleven in last night's ep:

Amy: I know....I..I just worry there'll come a time when you never turn up, that something will have happened to you and I'll still be waiting and never knowing.
Doctor: No. Come on Pond, you'll be there til the end of me.
    Amy: Or vice-versa

Could this be a not - so - subtle forshadowing of the Pond's fate in 7x05?

Given that many kids watch a show like The Simpsons, some minor innuendos on Doctor Who is nothing.

I read a theory that Amy and Rory are already gone from the Doctor's perspective, and he's visiting them because he wants more adventures. It's an interesting thought, and it does explain some of the Doctor's stranger reactions. Although, with that line from Amy, he could just be remembering Rose and all the companions he's put in danger.
Hmmm... That could be interesting, if instead of watching the Ponds die for the first time in 7x05, he's actually remembering it and at the end makes the decision to never visit the Ponds again after that.
And apparently some fans have harrassed Moffat so much with their displeasure over last night's episode that he's deleted his Twitter account and most of the other cast and staff from Doctor Who have gone by and large Twitter silent.

Moffat didn't even write it. It was Chibnall. And it was Chibnall's finest hour.
