Does anybody else hate it when people spell 'boy' as 'boi'?

I can't stand it spelled that way.
but I don't really know why, either.

 

Well, I've come to a conclusion based on utter delerium. Since 'Avril Lavigne' is a French name...and the French have words such as moi, soi, and toi (pronounced 'mwa, swa, and twa')...then perhaps the word 'boi' is actually an indepedent word from 'boy', as it is pronounced 'bwa'?

Maybe? No? Nobody? Guess not.

i really havent seen the different boy spelling.

but i hate aim lingo. i used to use it. but not anymore. but my sisters use it and sometimes they use it in Real life. and everytime that happends, i LMAO(i do use that quite a bit.)


then they look at me wierd and i explain how stupid and rediculas(sp?) they sound. then they just say the word "whatever". and that whole teanage cold shoulder thing, to which i laugh even more.

 

Chatspeak should be kept off the boards and in AIM or MSN, thanks.

Now, if you want to communicate as a civilized, refined human being, then go right ahead.

And for the record, I haven't seen "boi" until now. I guess it's some French word that sneaks its way into the English mainstream.

 

What I find ironic is that the people who type like that to get their sentence out into the chat/IM session/whatever faster, never ever have anything to say worth listening to. Not that the perfect typists always do either, but I'd rather see pointless text spelled correctly. For example:

"how r u doin???? i went 2 c xxx 2day. it wuz good. did u c it 2???"

"Hey, how's it going? I saw 'xXx' today. I liked it a lot. Have you seen it?"

The same point is made in both sentences, but my response to the first guy is to pretend I left and forgot to put away mode on, whereas the second guy at least gets the information that I haven't seen the movie.
