I think it was called Ferocity style at that time, it's actually as old as Shii-cho, but the darker version,

In time, Juyo got much better by adding other 5 forms into its arsenal,

Because the recent sources states that Juyo users must learn all other 6 forms, and create a much more aggressive and violent and chaotic version of it.

While it's true old Sith might use that, but much more simple and basic version of it, without the upgrades of Ataru, Niman and Djem-so.

In the canon, only confirmed Juyo/Vaapad users are: Windu, Maul, Depa and Grand Inquisitor. Depa fall into the dark side while trying to learn Vaapad, and Grand Inquisitor was using dark side as well, Windu was only exception that he didn't fall to the dark side, I count Sidious too since Maul obviously learned that from Sidious, even though Sidious is not listed in any canon source.

Niman is probably like that too, in time, Niman also gets its upgrades and become Form VI.

The link suggests that the name "Niman" rather than "Ferocity style" was in use by the Minions of Xendor.

In the Legendsverse, Depa fell, possibly due to use of Vaapad. In the newcanon, there's no references to Depa falling.

So, if "Depa fell due to use of Vaapad" is going to be used, then the fact that there were many users of the older variant Juyo, including loyalist Jedi users like Zez-Kai Ell, needs to be used as well.

Whereas if you're sticking entirely to "newcanon" then newcanon Depa's story - with her managing to become a master of Vaapad without falling, needs to be used.

@Erkan12 That is all true, however, i think you're getting the timeline of it wrong, because remember, the Force Wars/first Dark Jedi conflicts were all thousands of years prior to the TOTJ/KOTOR era, it's 25.000+ years BBY rather than 4000, KOTOR is recent history compared to the hayday of Makashi, and Blaster usage became common place way back around that era as well, as during the era of Xim the Despot the earlier forms of Blasters were common, which means Soresu would have been developed in the time where Jedi started policing the Old Republic and dealing with the common place criminals and pirates, given that Makashi and Shii-Cho weren't enough for that time.

This in turn leads to the development of Ataru and Djem So/Shien, which are a response to Soresu's lacking offensive ability in different ways, at most i feel these forms would be created in the Hundred Year Darkness or something along those lines, as Djem So is dueling focused once more, criticizing Soresu's inability to seize an offensive in a phylosophical sense, and we know Exar Kun was a master of Niman according to the KOTOR campaign guide:
    https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Exar_Kun/Legends#Powers_and_abilities

Which makes sense, as it is known as the "Diplomat form" formed for those who are not that focused on dueling and want to have their bases covered with a balanced fighting style that incorporates the Jedi's experience with experimenting with various forms n the past, it makes sense that it would be created in a time after the hundred years of war against Dark Jedi, when Jedi return to their diplomatic duties as we see with Odan Urr during the Empress Teta conflicts.

This means that, at bare minimum, you have:

    25.790's BBY, Force Wars: Makashi.

24.000's BBY, Jedi of the Republic: Soresu.

23.000-6900 BBY, Jedi as Peacekeepers in various conflicts up until the Hundred Year Darkness: Ataru, Shien and Djem So (later), possibly Niman later on as well.

6900-4000 BBY: Latest possible development for Niman.

So i think Niman fits Revan really well, as he would be a duelist of a similar nature to Exar Kun, highly adaptable and cunning, with unorthodox tactics.

However, i think i was wrong regarding Malak, as i think he was more of a Makashi specialist due to his one handed grip.

But the gist of it it still is: Revan: Strategic all-rounder, unpredictable, Malak: Power-based duelist, with a fixed but highly effective tactic.
