If someone could provide a link to the old 'Ian McDiarmid' thread, perhaps Mr. Mayhew would be interested in checking it out.

The Trash Compactor...was a rectangular box set, one side moved in and out, and underneath was a pit with water and all sorts of other nasty bits floating in it, so Chewie found a ledge at the back of the set and put both feet on it carefully so as not to drop into the water...therefore keeping dry...while the others got soaked... cowardly, but true.

    Wow! Great stories!

My last one... How did they do the hair when Chewie was being tortured? Was it static electricity or just hairspray?

Jarvis, it must have been static electricity, but yes there was a bit of hairspray on the headpiece, now that you mention it, I hadn't thought about that in years...

Actually Storm...I think..and don't quote me on this one...but the stormtrooper outfits were all made a standard size with the white bands around the middle. You guessed it... most of the breastplates had to be adjusted with duct tape to make them fit properly.

But seriously, Jay, duct tape and wookiees just don't mix....it's only good for removing hairballs...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHA!!!! You have no idea how happy that makes me! Tape, buttons, snaps, tons of velcro.............Movie magic is one of a kind. I don't realy care for the newer digital stuff. I like the costumes and siuts. At least for the Starwars movies.

Yeah, hair and Duct Tape aren't much a good combination at all! I learned that one the hard way. . . . ;)

Well, it's been an honor, and a real pleasure talking with you, Mr. Mayhew. I have a calculus class at 6:25 tomorrow morning and I still have a little bit of homework to do. I hope you'll continue to keep stopping by. :)

Three of my favorite movies would be..Giant, the Alamo, and the Magnificent Seven. All western flavor...they are all great movies with great stars. My favorite Sci-Fi movies are Star Wars, of course and 2001. I just like them.

    Wow! I love those movies!

I know I said last question but....

Did George Lucas actualy say that Chewie was responcible for Han coming back at the end of Star Wars? Was that a stage direction? (the LOOK you gave Han that he waves off is priceless!)

Music...I like a lot of music, but I am old and don't understand a lot of the new stuff, so I suppose, Rock n' Roll classics and some of the real old Country and Western, like Willie Nelson (actually, he's looking younger and younger) and Johnny Cash...strange as it sounds, Country music is big in England.

Mr. Mayhew, what was it like working with the other two SW directors, Irvin Kershner and Richard Marquand?
