Does Dooku know Vaapad? I heard that he knew it in Labyrinth O' Evil. Is this true? If so, where in the book?

I didn't see anything in LoE that implied he knew it ... he obviously has some idea what to expect from fighting a Vaapad user, though, as he has fought Mace Windu before at least once (in practice, not a real fight). He tries to train Grievous so that Grievous'll have some chance against Mace and the other best Jedi fighters out there; maybe that scene is the one you've heard of.

I didn't see anything in LoE to indicate that he did. He is a master swordman but I was under the impression that only Mace and Depa knew Vaapad.

Is it possible that he knows Form VII but not Vaapad?

Every Jedi know at least something from every form. They specialise in only one, though.

Dooku is one of the only masters of Form II.

Hey S_A. Nice to see you back.

I was under the impression that only Mace and Depa knew Vaapad.

    And Sora Bulq.

Hell, if nothing else, he certainly has some working knowledge of it. Look at what he does to Quinlan in the "Jedi: Dooku" special...by drawing "Vaapad" out of Vos during their little training session, he goads him with what appeared to be a fair affinity for it.

Whether Sora gave the Count a bit of on-the-side instruction after his Bakura defection remains to be seen, though.

Sora knows Vaapad. It's just Mace Windu doesn't like to acknowledge it (and says, peevishly, "It mastered him!"

Dooku has his own form of lightsaber use. He's an individual. ;)

Dooku uses Makashi, whatever the hell that means.

Sora Bulq helped Mace Windu to prefect Vaapad. He also taught it to Quinlan Vos when he re-trained him. Though he never told him it was Vaapad. We learn this in Jedi: Mace Windu and the Clone Wars Volume 1 TPB, which has Jedi: Mace Windu for those of us who didn't get it when it came out.

If Vaapad is that stiff, uncoordinated style Sam Jackson was using in AOTC, then no, he doesn't seem to know it :p

This is getting pretty hilarious, the EU hailing Mace Windu as the greatest lightsaber fighter and in the movies he's the least convincing of all the actors in that combat sequence [face_laugh]

Hey, the same movie says Anakin and Padmé deeply love each other. It's not convincing either.

You must let go of your doubts, young one.

Pah . . . that same movie showed Natty, after rolling down a sand dune under a hot arid sun devoid of bruises, perspiration and messy hair, very picture perfect. Revolting! [face_mischief]

That's probably because she was actually rolling down a pile of green foam.

A better question, sparked by my recent re-beginning Shatterpoint: was Mace Dooku's Padawan?

"I've heard that the bond between Master and Padawan is intense. When you faced Dooku on Geonosis..." - Palpatine to Mace

    Thoughts, anyone? [face_mischief]

I think Yoad is in the room at the same time and Palpidious is reverring to him when he says that

It's likely Sora taught him a few tricks but I think Dooku just learned how to counter it rather than use it himself, he has always used Form II and it was very successfull, there was no reason to change form.

Dooku doesn't need to use Vaapad. He owns without it.

No, I believe Qui-Gon was Dooku's sole Jedi padawan, since Jinn was apprenticed to him almost as soon as Dooku attained Knighthood (similar to Obi-Wan). At the very least, there are no records of him having taken on another after Qui-Gon's ascension.

Mace's master isn't seen, although the closest we ever come to glimpsing him/her/it is in that SW Tales lightsaber-construction story.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, Komari Vosa (Star Wars Bounty Hunter) was an apprentice to Dooku.

On topic, I don't think Dooku mastered Vaapad but he might have been familiar of it both from Sora Bulq and Sidious (who trained Maul, who knew a distorted version of Forum VII.)

    <<smack>>

Funny thing is, was just thinking about Vosa concerning another topic.

What form does Vosa use anyway?
