Does Vader Ever Laugh?

When are people going to get over the ROTS bashing and just discuss the films?

 

Well, the universe has become a much, much bigger place since OT. You can not stop people making referances towards the NT or other source material that is availabe. Anyway, I still think there is a lot of humor in Vader, pitchpark though. He really has a way with people and is quiet sarcastic when people around him just act stupid (such as high ranked Imperial officers) or anoy the "sith" out of him. In some of the books (such as "Shadow of the Empire" and the "Han Solo Triology") he has some great scenes.But back to the films, if he laughs he does it in private. Perhaps in his special chamber, when nobody can hear him. Or just in his head like most of you say.

 

You are telling me that if Vader saw a Stormtrooper knock the lights out himself with a door, or slip and fall, he will not laugh?



The question then will be: Does his stomach hurt?

 

Sure Vader laughs...

Everytime he kills one of his incompitent Admirals or lackies that he puts in charge.

He probably laughs in his meditation chamber while he self medicates.

 

There are times when you can tell he is pleased, and at least has a smile of some sort. It's all in the speech.

Like when he relishes in "defeating" Kenobi and the impending destruction of the Rebellion. He has a wicked scheme and he's enjoying every bit of it.

 

I bet Vader really likes bad puns.

Yes, Vader does laugh. When he faces Luke at the start of their duel on Bespin, he laughs after Luke's first attack. You have to listen very carefully to it.

I think Vader is laughing because he is thinking "This kid is never going to believe that I am his father."

 

I don't know if Vader laughs or not (probably just laughs in his head like somebody said earlier), but I always find it amazing to imagine what facial expressions he is making behind that mask. That how good JEJ is with the Vader dialogue.

When we see him unmasked in ROTJ, he looks really sad and remorseful about his life.

Just imagine how wicked he looked behind the mask before his redemption! I picture him smiling evily often. Especially when he says things like "I find your like of faith disturbing," "You should not have come back," "And now, your Highness, we will discuss the location of your hidden rebel base," "Apology accepted, Captain Needa," "All too easy," "Perhaps, I can find new ways to motivate them," and the way hissed "sister!" Of course, you can expect many other expressions, especially angry ones, but you get the ida.

 

Although it would be off-screen,I find Vader would actually have a gut buster at times like this:

*While Vader chokes some random imperial officer for screwing up,Vader notices his eyes are bulging out and his cheeks are puffing up like a blow-fish*

Now really, who couldn't laugh at that....or purhapse I'm just evil. or crazy.

During scene:

Vader: Ah man! haha! Somebody get a camera! Kodak moment! Kodak Moment!

Officer; Yes my lord.

Vader: eh never mind,I got my own!

*He pushes one of the buttons on his control panel,his eyes light up and FLASH*

We now see vader walking off in the distance laughing

Vader: Hey,hey Palpy...*still chuckleing*

Palpatine I am your master Vader and that is what I am to be called.

Vader: Look, look what I did, master

*shows palpatine a Kodak Moment*

Palpatine: uuhhh.

*long silent acward moment*

Vader*sigh* I'll be in the dome.
*stomps off*

Since vader is so evil and twisted,(which makes him cool) he would probobly find humor in that kinda crap.

 

Hahah, and Palpatine's like " I have failed in his training"

I laughed when he said that...

 

I never caught him laughing. Sure he has a sence of humor when he said,"Apology accepted, Captin Needa." And he did smile when he was un-masked.But he never lol.

Captin:Why did the chicken cross the road?
Vader:Why?
Captin:TO GET TO THE OTHER SIDE!
Vader:Wow, that joke sucked....
[Vader choke Captin]
Vader:I find your lack of humor disturbing!

 

To laugh, one must have joy, whether it be true happiness, joy in what you do, or enough insanity to be detached from your inner pain.

To me, Vader is without joy. While you hate yourself (and I believe that above any anger or hatred he might feel towards anyone, he despises himself and his choices...particularly after he realizes that he 'killed' Padme after making all those choices for 'her' benefit), you never truly laugh (you might muster something weak and obviously fake for the benefit of someone, but that's it). He is not above wry comments, more full of irony than mirth, but while it may elicit a smirk out of him, I don't believe he could find that squashed part of him that could actually chuck, much less laugh out loud.

 

Ah, go on, luv! He is full of dark humour at times, especially if people arrund him are soooooooo stupid!

 

If Vader can say "Nooooooooooooooooooooo!!!" I'm sure he can say "Mwahahahahah Mwahahahahaaaaa!!!"

 

I'm actually still curious how vader relieved himself when nature called as that random jedi brought up earlier,?. Did he have his own private restroom or did he just go in the suit perhaps like a waster container that needed to be changed? If he did have his own private chitter I feel sorry for the storm trooper he found using it lol.

anyways on to the topic, I think vader lost it after padme's death and he devolped a severly warped sense of humer I believe that he laughed alot during his final 20 years just as he laughed alot in the pt.

 

Of course he does...when he's fartin' up a storm in Sid's throne room!

 

He giggles while polishing his lightsaber.

 

Vader at least smiled when he told Padme of his new powers. Closest thing to laughing I guess. =\

Vader laughing? It would sound even worse than his, "Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!"

 

Maybe if he saw or heard something funny.
