I had the little glow in the dark ghost that came with the trap for far longer than I had the trap.

I never had any of the toys (I believe most of that came out two years later when The Real Ghostbusters debuted, and by then I was 12 and starting to get out of toys... for the moment), but I was a charter member of the Ghostbusters Fan Club. I can't remember all the swag you got, but I do recall getting a white t-shirt with the Ghostbusters logo on it!

That trap was awesome in theory, but a pain in the ass to use. The hose had to be long enough for you to be able to roll the trap out and feel like the bad ass buster that you were, but it was too long for the amount of air you got out of stomping on the deal to actually open the doors of the trap reliably.

Also, I really liked that write up of the potential GB3. I feel I really would have liked that movie, and I could just picture Dan Akroyd in every scene described.

    Let's see I had....

    The original four.

Three of the five Slime Heroes figures; Peter, Ray and Egon.

The Fright Features figures. Interesting in that I wasn't the only one whose Egon's necktie broke on them. Mine did it right out of the package.

And two of the Power Pack Heroes; Winston and Louis.

I also had this version of Slimer.

In addition I had the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, Bug-Eyed Ghost, H2 Ghost, Bad-To-The-Bone Ghost, Granny Ghost, Tombstone Tackle Ghost and Hard Hat Ghost. I also had Ecto-1, Ecto-2 and Ecto-3.

I think I still have the figures where if you got them wet they would change color.

Those were the Slimed Heroes, which I recall came out roughly around the time of GB2 or shortly after.

Yep, they came out around 1990. The Power Pack Heroes, Super Fright Features and Screaming Heroes were the ones that were available around the time of the film. You know, looking at Fright Features Ray Stantz, that has to be one of the more sillier designs. Not just the frightened expression, but that the character was wearing oven mitts instead of fingered gloves like the others.

But the Fright Features Ray had the Ecto-Goggles on him.

I have no clue what happened to my own Real Ghostbusters figures. I had a few of the basic Ghostbsuters figurines, but also had most of the Haunted Humans line...with the notable exceptions of Hard Hat and X-Cop.

Which I'm pretty sure partly inspired the monsters-disguised-as-humans plot device from Men in Black.

I sadly lost a bunch of my old RGB toys and a lot of the ones I do have are broken or missing accessories :(

True, but then Slimed Heroes Ray also had removable Spectra Vision Ecto-Goggles.

Came in blue and red variants. What really sucked was that the PKE Meter and the Trap were only available with Super Fright Features Egon and Peter. My friend had both of those figures. Both items should have been continually made available with each release.

    Did you straighten it out?

    Sucks to be you. :p

They were pretty good toys, all things considering. Even with some of the odd gimmicks, but given that all the GB's ever used were Proton Packs in the cartoon, it's understandable. Though it was a shame that they couldn't work in the Slime Blowers for figures. But I think because it never made it into the cartoon, that's why it never happened. I have to say that the only flaw with the Proton Packs was that the plastic that's use on the neutrona wands was a bit thin that it didn't take long for them to break. That's why I wound up getting the Fright Features figures in 1988-89. The original four were no longer available and the Proton Cannons were more durable. Though Freight Features Winston's left arm wound up breaking on me around the fall of 89, which lead to getting Power Pack Heroes Winston. Louis was a bonus. The Power Packs were too silly, so I took the remaining Proton Packs that weren't too badly damaged and used them. Then I got the Slimed Heroes Peter and Ray for Christmas, but Egon was bought on New Year's Day.

So Spy is getting good reviews and is Feig/McCarthy collaboration. Maybe if I see it and like it I'll be more interested in this film.

Paul F'n Feig put forth the first picture of the "new" Ecto-1.

And here's what a Paul Feig Jurassic Park Staff Vehicle might look like:

Is that new ECTO-1 made from an old hearse? That's cute. Like the unis and the proton-packs, if you squint it more or less looks like the original. I'm sure the story will be very different, but the iconography is certainly true to the original thus far.

Oh, I had all kinds of action figure lines. I had MOTU and POP as well. Along with "Transformers", "Super Powers", "Secret Wars", "Robocop & The Action Police", "Silverhawks", "Thundercats", "DC Super Heroes" from Toy Biz, "Beetlejuice", the early Toy Biz Marvel figures, "Swamp Thing", "Batman" from Kenner and "Terminator 2". And of course, "Star Wars" figures. A lot for an eight year period, but they were all spread out so it worked out well considering how tough things were in 84, part of 85 and most of 88 and part of 89.

I had a lot of favorite toy lines/cartoon series back then.

The implication that Egon had sex with the slime and possibly the toaster was infantile even by my standards when the film was released. Your list should have included this guy:

Janusz Poha! The single greatest bit of comedy in the film was the character portrayed by Peter MacNichol.

"Why am I drippings with goo?"

He was the only decent thing about that perfectly terrible movie.
