The_Anakin_Wannabe, I feel Anakin's loss against Dooku will be one of the main spurs that turns him to the Dark Side in Ep3. This desire for more power, to gain revenge and so on.

And he didn't look like a mug against Dooku, the only time he was made to look bad was when he lost his second sabre so quickly. But then that was his own fault for being waaaay too cocky in trying a stunt like that.

And Obi-Wan was fighting pretty defensively, hoping he could buy time to get Anakin back into the fight. Obi-Wan was doing fine until he got into a test of strength with Dooku, and he even had the chance to break away from that but didn't. That was his only real mistake.

I think he is. He does not seem to enjoy it like he did when he kicked obi wans butt. I think he does not know officially what palpatine is doing with Ani but he sort of knows he is in the future of the empire. He can probably sense it because he is very powerful in the force and more than likeley can see the future maybe he can not see it in the clarity of palpatine but he can see something. Do not forget though that he looked sad in two parts after he kicked Ani's butt Thats what I think and I'm sticking with it!-

I think he was catching his breath but yet he might have felt remorseful and that duel shouldn't have been shortened so much for Anakin did put a good fight. :(

Dooku didn't taunt Anakin because he knew he didn't need to. Anakin was already messed up in the head and he would make sloppy mistakes in his fighting.

Dooku taunts Obi-Wan because initially(Dooku)feels that he might not be able to take Obi-Wan(held in such high esteem by Yoda)Kenobi down in a pure physical fashion without attempting to screw with his head...which utterly fails. But after dueling with Obi-Wan for a bit, Dooku knows he(Obi)is not in top shape(due in no less part to Obi-Wan's gruelling schedual for the last few days)and that he will be able to take him down. Hence Dooku stops with the attempted minds games. One: because they failed. Two: He knows he doesn't need them.

A lot a people seem to forget or simply overlook the fact that Obi-Wan wasn't anywhere near full strenghth when he went up against Dooku. In fact he was running on empty and had he been at full strenghth he would have put on a hell of a better showing. Anakin was pretty close to full strength when he took on Dooku and yet he still didn't last much longer than a expended Obi-Wan. Had Obi-Wan been at full strenghth he would have put Anakin to shame comparitively.

I'm saying that Anakin only looked bad because his fight ended so quickly. It was a shock to see both Jedi down to so quickly.

Anakin was no where near full strength, physically or emotionally. His mothers death, the arena battle and fellow jedi being killed, Padme falling out of the gunship, and getting hit with force lightning. The fact that he still lasted longer than Obi Wan during his duel shows his talent.

Bottom line.. He is a political Idealest not a murder.

He could not assainate anyone it's not in his nature. That is why he hired Jango. Also why he sentenced Ani to death in the arena.. Dooku could have just taken them out right then and there.

He wanted to take out Obi wan because he was more of a threat then Anakin was.

MasterJedi78, I'm not sure I follow your reasoning here. Dooku isn't a murder? Obi-wan is on the ground defenseless. He could of jumped on his ship and left, remember Obi-wan told him already he doesn't believe the Sith bit. Instead, Dooku is ready to kill someone who can't hurt him.

This remorse thing people see on Dooku's face reminds me of those that think Mace is shocked that he killed Jango. I don't think Mace is shocked at all. What we really see is Mace looking up at Dooku, Dooku looking taken-a-back and Mace looking down at Jango ticked off or with a hard look on his face. I feel that Dooku's unguarded look in that moment cemented in Mace's mind the fact that Dooku was directly involved in the assination plot and not just perhaps someone who happened to have allies trying to kill Padme.

The look on Dooku's face is a typical look of someone coming down off a power rush, IMO. To where you aren't just acting on flex/adrenline or the force and start to begin to fully think again.

Edit to add: By directly involved I mean he's the one who hire Jango and actually ordered it. Not just perhaps someone from Obi-wan's overhearing that might be trying to stall it by using a line like, "I'm a man of my word."

Oh please! If anything and by what we're shown. Anakin's mothers death, while certainly unfortunate, only fuels his strength. He wipes out an entire tusken village with little physical effort. The arena battle is the first time that we see Anakin in an intense action sequence. Given the amount of time and Anakin's age..this easily accounts for him being warmed up. He is nowhere near the point of physical exhaustion like Obi-Wan is at the time they confront Dooku. I'm not saying he's at full capacity..but he isn't at the end of his rope either.

    ONNIE...

I know he was going to take out Obi-wan kill him while he was down. But remember That is similar to Obi wan taking out MAul. it was during a fight. He didnt attmept to harm him just because he wanted to. Dooku gave warning to him " AS you see my Jedi powers are far beyond yours... now back down".

Obi wan continued the attack to taking him out was justified.

I am focused on Dooku's facial expression... He looks remorseful like to say anakin was just a kid and he hurt him.
Almost like kid you aint even on my level. you aint even a threat. It obious dooku does not have respect for anakin. He called him boy.

I just thought the look was meant to show how tired the fight made dooku. He's not a real young buck anymore, you know?

true he is not young but In all the jedi duels I have seen I never see a Jedi get tired. I mean Yoda's like 400 yrs old and he is flying around like nothing...

I dont think Dooku was tired had he been tired he would have walked away from Yoda.... but he didnt... he didnt look exhausted fighting Yoda. He created a diverson to get away, he knew he had to get the Death Star plans back to Sidious.

Luke was exchausted on Bespin. Listen to Vader breath after Lukes assult on the DS2. Qui-Gon seemed to be a little tired after fightning Maul. So there are many instances of Jedi getting tired during duels.

yoda seemed a little winded after the Duel with Dooku. If he weren't tired, he wouldn't have used his walking cane

Ahhh! But when Obi-wan took out Maul.. Maul was still on his feet and ready to fight. Obi-wan was no longer a threat against Dooku, yet he was still going to kill him anyways.

Why do you think he wounded Obi-wan so he couldn't fight instead of outright kill him? Because:

He didn't want to kill him?

He wanted to get the last word in before killing him, in a tormenting sort of fashion, right before landing the blow. A blow that Obi-wan would have time to think and KNOW was coming. It was a pure power trip.

What does that tell you about Dooku?

I always thought Count Dooku was tired after stopping Anakin, shame they had to remove parts of the Duel out, because it would of shown more of Anakin's great skill with his lightsabre. :(

Actually I was rather sad with Anakin's duel. I mean he splits a cord turning out the lights and mostly next we see light sabres just spinning around. Most of the time not even hitting each other.

    Woooooo! The colours, the lights.

I agree, they should of had the long version and not worried, "Oh dear! The movie ran five mins. over 2 hours. What will we do? What will we do?"

I think there is a purpose with not showing Dooku going hard with Anakin. Here´s my theory:

Dooku joined forces with Sidious so that he could take advantage of his resources and destroy the Sith order from within. But he couldn´t take out Sidious on his own. That was the chosen one´s job.
Mace Windu wasn´t the only one who thought that Anakin was the chosen one. Dooku wanted Anakin as his apprentice, give him the training he needed(who could give him better training, since Dooku was more powerful than any Jedi?) and then let him fulfill his destiny.
This is why he asked Obi-Wan to join him. He would then have gotten Anakin on his side aswell. But when Obi-Wan refused, Dooku decided to get rid of him, so he could persuade Anakin to help him destroy the Sith.

That´s why Dooku first tried to kill Obi-Wan and then cut off Anakin´s arm instead of killing him. The look he had after doing that was an exhausted and thoughtful one, I think.
At the end of the duel with Yoda, Dooku dropped the pillar on Anakin and Obi-Wan, because he was pretty sure Yoda thought Anakin was the chosen one too and would save him.

Obi wan was no longer a threat against Dooku.

Yes he was Dooku told Obi wan all about his plan and knew that if Obi wan Survived he would tell all. Dooku had no Idea that Obi wan would have survied the Arena, or the droids.

That Is why I say he looks remorse ful. Instead of Pausing If he wanted to he could have finished Obi wan and Anakin off. If Yoda had not come and break spoiled Dookus fun I think he just would have gotten on his crusier and left. I think there is more to Count Dooku then we all think.

I dont think someone of his character and prestige could realize what he has gotten himself into. Dooku will shock us all.

Well, Dooku does look kinda freaky because he grins too much during the duels.

    1. He grins evilly right before he cuts Obi Wan's leg.

2.He grins while he duels Anakin.

Of course he looks remorseful. He's thinking, "Dang, that kid is gonna come after me in the next movie for cuttin' off his arm."

I always thought at the moment where he takes a breath he was thinking:
"I was Sauruman for God's sake! What the hell am I doing in this flick? My stunt guy has more screen time than me!"

I like how right after Dooku force pushes Anakin, and he slides over to Obi-Wan, Obi-Wan gives Anakin that look like : "Choosen One my ass."

I thought it was great- the impression I got was that Dooku was 100% in control of what was going on, and was playing with Anakin, getting him where he wanted him.

The bit where their lightsabers barely touch each other is my favourite bit of the fight. It's as if they can both see what's coming next, and more like a dance than a fight. Which gives the impression that it's an old style of Jedi fighting, which tells you that Dooku's completely in control of what's going on.

I do not believe Dooku is 100% bad.

His goal is to return the Jedi order to their former glory. He knows that the Jedi have fallen from greatness and wants to return them to that state even if it means using the darkside to do so.

I do believe he means to betray Sidious and is using him for his own ends.

It's a bit twisted to want to bring down the Jedi order in order to return it to grace but the darkside has got to Dooku who thinks he can master it and use it for his own ends.

He's in for a surprise in episode 3.
