So I have been thinkin about Mcdonalds double quarter pounder lately and I thought "if it is a double quarter pounder, wouldn't it be consider a half pounder" Then I wondered if it is a half pounder, why don't they call it that.

Thoughts on this mystery would be helpful.

I never liked the QPCs or DQPCs from McD's because they're just too burgery. I prefer their thinner options, like the double cheeseburger or the Big Mac.

Because double is a cooler word than half.

The thinner the hamburger, the better.

Double Quarter Pounder over half pounder is just a big a mystery as why the large m&M's are called mega, when they're only slightly bigger...

Because there are two patties. To be a 1/2 pounder, there would usually have to be one pattie. :)

That's strange you brought it up.

I was looking at the Nutrition crap on the back of the tray paper thing at McDonald's today, and the Double Quarter Pounder w/ Cheese is the most calorie-heavy thing on the menu. I think it was like 830?

I had 2 apple pies and a powerade.

I can't justify eating a half pound burger. I mean, just by eating it you've gained half a pound. If you ate 10 of them, you'd have gained 20 pounds without even digesting them! And...I really suck at trying to make a point about this....!

Edit: The neck bone's connected to the wrist bone!

Wouldn't you have to eat 40 to gain 20?

Half a pound of chocolate is acceptable.

True, but that's usually how restaurants classify them. (not that it would make any difference really) :)

Watch "Super Size Me" or read "Fast Food Nation."

    You'll never eat that again.

Yep. I guess that mkes people think that they're getting more for their money. :)

Btw, has anyone else noticed how they just call it a "double quarter pounder?" They never say it's a double quater pounder of beef. Who knows what's really in it? :p

Don't worry about the caloric intake in one burger. You could eat a barrel of carrots and have 830 calories. Watch out for the trans fat, cause that is what's going to kill you

Very true... psychology... when you hear the word "half" you think less... with "double" you think more...
