Thanks again to everyone for all the very kind comments.

MiraxTHorn, I actually made the MR costumes for a party my husband and I went to last year ? a few of us who are all into MoulinRouge thought it would be fun to get together this year to frolic in our can-can garb. And since we?re probably doing it again next year, you can join in then! Yaaaaaaaaay!
There can NEVER be enough can-can girls.

I woke up this morning thinking of these 2 GIANT bolts of orange taffeta that I saw on the $1 / per clearance table last time I was at Vogue.
    Orange = Halloween.
Maybe I can make an other incarnation of a can-can dress! ;)

Geez. I have so many ideas for new costume stuff!

Heeheehee, Nos, I have 2 more can-can costumes on the docket myself -- so next year, maybe we'll all have new and exciting regalia. :D

Maybe some other folks here will explore all of the fancy sparkly fabrics and by next year we can do a pretty decent recreation of the interior of the Moulin Rouge at the Hyatt.
Jeff is going to have to be Zidler. ;)
We will have to work on our men-folk too. They can still sit around an enjoy the show in top hats and tuxes with tails!

CrimsonVision's Black Diamonds costume is absolutely beautiful (she did all that beading by hand!), and she neglected to mention that she won for Best Movie Costume!

DarthJurist you should absolutely join us next year! We'll take over the Hyatt with can-can girls!

    *falls over*

    WOW!

Lday, I was soooo impressed! Heehee, AH and I were chatting monday morning while he was doing a sketch for me; he was telling me about all the amusing pics he had of you guys, especially the Oogie ones.

hi! :D I was the pastel dress Padme at dragoncon... hee, I was happy to find some pics of me!
anyway, that was my first dragoncon, and WOW it was so cool seeing so many great star wars costumes!! Once I get my film developed (18 rolls, ick, I guess I know what my next paycheck is going to be used for ><;) I'll post a link here, too... I think most of my pics ended up being star wars related ^^; It was really great talking to some of you at the con, I hope I see you next year too !

    CrimsonVision, you're making me blush.
Yep, I have my hand in many costume pies...
And AH took about a million rolls of my husband dancing around in the Oogie costume. They are hysterical.
I don't know if you realized I was doing it, but at one point while we were lining up to go down the photo gauntlet after the Masquerade, I was squatting down in the Mayor to try to get a good look at your fabulous shoes! Heeheehee.

    And welcome, kellilla!

Heehee, yes, he said it looked like Oogie was giving birth! :) And I didnt notice you looking at my shoes that night. lol! Yeah, I have to repair them soon, I was up and dancing till 7:30 in the morning and well, they lost quite a bit of their sparkle! ;)

BTW, who was the little Amidala I was chatting with while in line? She was a cutie!

Obi-Dawn Kenobi, Ive actually been watching your site for a while now! :) A few months back I decided I wanted to make one of Amidala's gowns from AOTC (the purple burned out velvet one; forgive me, Im still recovering from DragonCon and cannot remember the common name for it). I found my way to your site while researching; you do wonderful work! :)

    Thanks ladies! :)

*surlygirlie twists Mirax's arm to convince her to make a Moulin Rouge costume*

Oh, please, oh PLEASE! I would SO love to join in THAT fun!!! I've been thinking about either Satine's red satin gown or one of her suits/dresses. Would those be ok? Or is this more focused on can-can dresses? Either way, count me in! (Yay! Another project!)

CrimsonVision - Your Black Diamonds costume is FANTASTIC! Amazing work! Congrats!

Wow, thank you for such kind words CrimsonVision. Again, I just think your black diamonds costume is phenomenal, and to me, the fact that it made sg take notice means it really is!

Yes! MiraxH and I will be ambushing the Moulin Rouge festivities next time around. tee-hee.... :D

    CrimsonVision!
    You post here too! Excellent!
    Excellent Black Diamonds costume!

I am Queen Quincy's (the little Senator Amidala) mom.
I was in my officer's uniform for the costume event, so I would 'blend'.

Quincy was wearing her "Pink Diamonds" for Moulin Rouge night last Friday. I was can-can Jar Jar.

I was thinking about making the purple velvet Senator Amidala costume soon as well. In fact I was checking out some burm-out fabric that I remember seeing tonight after work. It's wasn't quite right--too much blue not enough purple and the pattern was too regular. I saw an other burn-out velvet that was closer to the right color, but the pattern was too floral.
I will be looking for that $1 per yard orange taffetta tomorrow and see what else I can find lying around.

I particularly like the clown-folk of the Moulin Rouge. That might be the way I will go with a second of third MR costume. I want to try to talk my hubby into wear a tux with a tu-tu. ...... we will see what happens by next DragonCon.

I have 5 rolls of film with quite a few pics of the Nightmare Before Christmas that I need to show around a.s.a.p.

I wish every day was DragonCon!

I was asking if anyone know who you and your daughter were in an above post!

I had fun chatting with you and your daughter and Im sooo glad we found each other here! :)

Lemme know how your fabric hunt goes! I dont think Ill be making that dress; although I love the dress the headpiece throws me off alot! ;) Definately going to go the Mara Jade route instead. ;)

    >>I wish every day was DragonCon!

    Me too!!!

Im actually looking into moving to Atlanta as we speak...

    :)

    *GASP*

Nos, your hubby may be a tux and tutu guy?
MY hubby already told me he would do that, and I was gonna look for 3 more, but if V is up for it, I'll only look for 2! Wheeeeeeeeee!

(Of course, now that I've said this, six or more of our male friends will want one of these ... oh, well, better too many than too few. ;) )

Boy, MiraxTHorn, I really had to twist your arm hard.
    Not.
    :p
I'm elated at the thought of you joining us!
(And ANY MR costume is fair game, I think -- we don't really have any rules.)

You would make a great Mara Jade CrimsonVision!
My husband (and me too) thought that you would make a killer Bette Midler character! I don't know how you could do that into a costume......
I was telling everyone at work today about everyone's costumes at DragonCon. And then I forgot to drop off my film today.
Sheesh. I will have pictures someday.

We absolutely MUST do an other Moulin Rouge night(s) next year at DCon.

Ever see 'Beaches'? Ive alwats dug the outfit she wore for the 'Otto Titsling' number she did. ;)

Yes Yes, definately MUST have a Moulin Rouge Night!

Woohoo! Thanks, SG. *rubs arm* ;)

Let me put my MR obsession this way: I saw MR 13 times in the theater last summer - 3 MORE times than I saw AOTC this year. (Not that MR eclipses SW by any means, but it's right up there for me.) :)

Gee, now I'm going to have to go watch it again to decide which costume I like best. Thanks for the excuse!

    Regards,
    M.

Dawn - Which MR costume are you thinking about?
