Dreamscape: Audio Drama *AUDITIONS*

(Please reserve this thread for audition information *only*. If you want to talk about the concept or anything like that, there's already a thread for that.)

Dreamscape is an audio drama, which requires voice actors to record lines dramatically in high-quality WAV or MP3 files (128 kbps, Stereo, 44.1) for mixing.

If you have the capability of recording these CD-quality files with little "buzz," and would like to audition for the following parts, information can be found below.

There are only six speaking parts in the project. To keep things uniform between the different episodes of "Star Wars: Anthology," I will be providing the voice of the Narrator. Unless a better Yoda emerges, I will also be providing his line.

The two main parts have been cast out to Second Strike actors that I felt were underused, Matthew Gordon and Michael Haspil.

That leaves three parts: one male; one female; and one male child.

DIRA RITAH: Female Jedi Padawan. Must be able to come across as somewhat meek and it'd be an asset if the actress could pull off a decent "death scream" without blowing out the speakers or redlining the recordings.

Auditions lines:

"Kai? What's going on? Who is this? Stop him!"



JOR TI'LANA: Male Jedi Master. This is the character that has ties into both Second Strike and Prelude to Hope, although one has to really look closely to see it. He is an adult Master in the vein of Mace Windu, but with less experience and not on the Council. He can have an English accent or Australian accent, as he is the grandfather of Shista Ti'Lana, who is played in Second Strike by Australian Kate Chappell.

Audition lines:

"Master Yoda speaks the truth. Dira would be an asset on this mission."

"We could order you to take Dira. Or not to go."



HARRAN PAHL: Young male child, anywhere from 3 - 6 years old. This role MUST sound like a child. He has only a few lines, but plays an important part in revealing the main antagonist's character. Think young Cale in Titan AE.

Audition lines:

"Dad? Dad, my ball got stuck."



Audition clips should be recorded and either compressed as CD quality MP3s or as a CD quality WAV inside a ZIP file. These can be e-mailed to timeline@starwarz.com or, preferably, uploaded to your own webspace with a link posted here or emailed to timeline@starwarz.com.

I'll cast until I've got all three parts. Once that's done, I'll ask a mod to lock the thread.

 

I'll have a go at Harran, but I won't be near a microphone for a few days. I'll also give a try for Cor, but it probably won't be as good.

I should also note that the part of Dira, now that the final script is complete and the director's recording has been made, has ended up only being a one-word part. She only speaks the line, "Kai?"

As such, it is probably going to go to Second Strike's Amy Ferrell, as her constant willingness to do rerecordings has me wanting to do something like that in thanks.

So, consider that part marginally open, as with Yoda.

The parts of Jor and Harran are entirely open.

Okay, I have the files from Richard Brookes and Adam Bertocci. And I think we have a couple more coming soon.

I have gotten confirmations from Haspil and Gordon about the two leads, so Michael Haspil will be playing Quinn, while Matthew Gordon plays Kai Ta'ralyn. No word yet from Amy about the one-word Dira role.

And, please note that if you don't get into this one, this is a SERIES, so you could very well get an email or PM one day asking you to work on another. There are at least two more coming already, and I've got others in mind as well.

Man, I'm in trouble. I sound a bit too much like Chris Hanel (bless your heart) for my own good. But I'll leave that to your judgement.

 

Dang, Pahket - nice voice! I wish I had a need for a good voice actor.

 

Makin' my life harder, Pahket. You are now tied with Bertocci there as the front runner for the part.

I may end up having to just flip a coin on that one and try to cast you both somehow in Doubts Cast. heh We'll see.

I'm also on about my fourth try to get in touch with Pete Dixon, for whome DS and DC were originally written. So far, all but the most recent email has bounced back, so hopefully that means this one has gone through.

2. Craig, I need it again, if possible. It exists right now only on my school computer and outlook on it is messed up. If need be, I can send back to myself, but it'd help if you could instead.

3. Finally got ahold of Pete. He's all for the new presentation.

4. From now on, when you do your audition files, people, you need to include your NAME and EMAIL ADDRESS or TFN username in the RECORDING and the filename. Do you have any idea how many files I've already received called "Dreamscape Audition" or "Try Out?"

Alright, with as many clips as I've received for Jor, I'm officially closing the auditions for Jor Ti'lana.

It was a tight race, but after looking at both performance (which, again, there wasn't a lot of chances to show off) and recording quality (which played a big part, since Jor is a fairly small role, and shouldn't alter the overall buzz ambiance of the room), it looks like the part of Jor Ti'lana goes to . . .

As for the part of, Harran, the young boy, that part is still open, as I haven't received many files for that part yet, at all. If you can sound like a young male child, give it a go. Again, think young Cale from Titan AE.
