Anything with Rachael Ray offends me. Wouldn't it be easier if I were allowed to punch her in the face? I think it would solve global warming AND hunger!

An example of a Jihad would be the Crusades from 1095 - 1302AD by the Catholic church to capture Jerusalem and the rest of the Holy Land. Or the one that spread through the middle-east and north Africa after the conception of Islam.

The meaning of Jihad is controversial in some circles, though it has been mostly used to refer to those of the Islamic faith invading other countries and forcing their religion on the inhabitants. Jihad is what caused the religion to spread as far and as fast as it did in the middle ages.

With that out of the way, I think it was stupid of that chick at fox news to even think of it the way she did. She just wanted her 15 minutes of fame...

P.S. It is actually against Islam to 'force' the religion on anybody. Islam can only be accepted voluntarily, forced conversion is worthless in the eyes of Allah. There are plenty of good reasons to think Islam (or any religion) is wrong, there's no need to go on inventing more reasons.

P.P.S. Apparently Pipes is one of those people that lcaim Obama is a 'Muslim', lol.

P.P.P.S. The leading Dutch dictionary defines Jihad as being a 'religious effort on the part of a Muslim'. Either way, if you actually ask any non-Al Quada sympathizing Muslims you will find it it mostly defined as being a struggle for justice and betterment for the individual Muslim and not as being a Holy War against non-Islamic forces. Of course it is as well used in this way, but it's not the only, nor necessarily the correct interpretation. Even if you could use this one, Islam being one of those religions that is very much open to the 'super market interpretation'.

 

Pfft. This is nothing. A day or two ago a news outlet found an old audio clip of Rachael Ray before she was famous. She's teaching some sort of sex education class. I don't think there's anything "bad", it's just humorous because she's giving advice on how to improve your sexual drive.
