Hey guys. I've been searching everywhere and I can't find the DVD logo font. What I mean is the OFFICIAL DVD logo. I can't find the font they use for that logo. I'm designing an HD-DVD logo.

Is the technology there for HD-DVD yet? I know that D-VHS is here.

Yes, next month Sony will release the first HD-DVDs in Japan. They haven't set a date for the U.S. release yet. The new HD-DVDs use a blue laser to read and write instead of a red one like standard definition DVDs. The new HD-DVDs hold 27 GB if you use one side of the disk, and 50 if you use both sides.

If you can't find the font, what I'd do is draw on top of a DVD logo in a vector based program.

Ha ha, I have no idea how to do vector stuff. Plus, I would need the "H" for the HD-DVD logo.

Be advised that the use of the trademarked DVD logo may result in a copyright violation which may subject the violator to a $25,000 fine.

    having said that, try here:

Unfortunatley, HD-DVD formats are having the same kind of trouble that current rewritable DVDs are. The odds of HDDVDs taking off while so few people have HD equipment are low enough already, without the format trouble. Dvdsite.org has some information on it and is heading a little "One Format Only" campaign.

As one of the lucky few with an HD setup, I eagerly await the day when HD movies are avaliable on something other than the two HD movie channels.

And if you haven't found the font yet, I'd also suggest that you try and paint your own.

    DVD, DVD, DVD....ah yes.

Although, throughout the years, DVD has played an important role in entertainment, I'm afraid that 'Dick Van Dyke' has no 'official' logo. And as for this DVD technology nonsence, do we really think that digitizing a great actor such as DVD could ever really account for that kind of talent? Come on people...

-Matt (Supporter of the new DVD font movement.)

EDIT: P.S. I think you have HD confused with HB, or Humphrey Bogart...he wasn't in any Dick Van Dyke movies that I know of.

the competing formats use red-laser and I sincerely hope they don't go for that.

The DVDFORUM is at this very moment making the official decision.

I think there is a Blu-Ray petition going on right now over at thedigitalbits.com

Why do you need a 50 Gigs HD-DVD? Not for movies! The Quality wouldn´t be much better...it is already perfect!(on a TV-screen)
But It would be great for making a copy of your HD!

The quality is fine for a reglar movie on a regular screen, but when your tv has twice the resolution, your movie will look half as good as it could.

    Clear? :p
