Is there a way around this? Is it because of my $14.99 WalMart DVD player?

Normally I would stop the disc, then type the number of the track I wanted (eg. 2) into the player's on-screen interface that lets you jump to tracks manually. I would assume your player has something similar.

I normally just shout expletives and curse the grave of Walt Di$ney for having to veiw his company logo 15,000 times before starting the damn movie and letting it babysit my kids.

Sounds like someone needs to upgrade to Bluray.

I believe this belongs in the "First World Problems" thread.

Really its not that big a deal. Pop the disc in and go make popcorn or something.

Flare's kitchen charges to much for popcorn though.

And pretty much this. It's kids' DVDs that I have that problem with.

I've never had this problem. The DVD players in my house let me skip each preview and/or go straight to the main menu.

It's definitely the worst with Disney DVDs.

    lol @ aso. great pic.

this is the worst. plus I hate the FBI. I don't understand who they think they're talking to. The person who's actually going to see that isn't going to be making illegal copies and the pirate's not going to care, anyway.

My steps when I encounter this problem: disc menu. title. skip. ****.

Actually, I will have you know that one of my younger cousins had once planned to use his Disney home videos to open a movie theater in his home. However, after learning what the words on that warning were about, he called off the plan, and announced to use that he was glad he never started because it was not his intent to be a criminal.

Why does the remote for my Blu-Ray player have a "Menu" button if it doesn't even let me go to the menu when the movie is playing or if previews are playing?

It is a complete farce tbh.
Some of the old DVDs are even worse, they have like 5 trailers, all unskippable.
This is why sometimes I just end up renting the damn film from iTunes. Step your game up hollywood

What really gets my goat is the DVDs you buy that warns about Piracy - What a cheek when you've shelled out £15.00 for a DVD to then have to sit through a lecture about piracy!

Have you also noticed its always the EXPENSIVE movies like this?

For instance....I bought the Fox ALIEN and Predator Double Feature pack. $5.00 at Wal-Mart.
You put the disc in and it goes straight to the main menu. No special features (just the theatrical trailers) or deleted scenes, but the movie starts right up without having to sit through any commercials.

Congo...same thing. $5 bargain bin and the movie starts right up.

I've only encountered one Blu-ray where it was impossible to skip the previews so I had to fast forward. I think it may have been a "rental version" of the film, though. It's always impossible to skip the warnings, but Breaking Bad (I think) has them at the beginning of the disc and at the beginning of every episode, unlike most shows which have only the former.

I haven't encountered a DVD/Blu-ray where I couldn't skip directly to the menu in a long, loooooong time. Except maybe Disney releases.

If you watch DVDs on/via your PC, there's a program called AnyDVD

and even with that some DVDs have unskippable stuff. It has to constantly update and usually lags behind. Not only do the publishers program DVDs to have unskippable stuff, they're in a constant battle to keep it that way!

**** them. **** them right in the ear.

I do the same thing but I make sure the kids know exactly why I'm cursing. Also, Walt Di$ney isn't in a grave...he's frozen. I believe he's waiting for the Jews to be eradicated.

I just use VLC to watch DVDs on the PC, and I can't recall any instance of it ever not going straight to the menu. Granted, you still have to put up with those annoying menu graphics but that's fine.

If the Next or Skip button is disabled, try fast forwarding. If you have a button on your remote that says "Top Menu", try that, but that might be disabled too.

I use my trusty Xbox 360 for watching DVDs, and I always just hit the skip forward button. It usually works.
