Okay, everyone. I've finally got some new pics of my Clones in action. I was home last weekend, so I snapped up some pics after making some modifications, and setting up an all-new Battle of Kashyyyk diorama. Enjoy!

    Battle of Kashyyk
    Battle of Kashyyk
    Gree's Forces
    Wookiee Army
    Kashyyyk CIS Army

    Clone War
    Clone War
    Gunship
    Gunship Close-up
    Clone Army
    Clone Army Close-up
    CIS Forces

These were a lot of fun to set up, and the Clone War has morphed considerably since I first posted pictures of it during the Clone Wars line. I still have a bunch of various Clones I don't have any room for. Most are duplicates of the ones in my Clone War setup. I have two extra Grees I may stick into the Kashyyyk setup at a later time. As it is, the Clone War is pretty colorful. For now, these are the difinitive versions of my two Clone setups. Once I get the 501st Clones, I'll probably put them in the Clone War diorama or save them for another project.

    :)

The jet clone is based of the concept art for Commander Appo leader of the 501st legion as well as the clone engineer who is just a Commander Faie without the cloak.;)

PM, many thanks for showing us those pics, they look great. In fact, you've inspired me to bolster my Kasshykk (spelling?) display. I have so far:
    1 Gree
    1 green commander
    1 AT-RT with driver
    1 BARC with rider
    7 AT-RT drivers
1 green kneeling Clone from the ROTS 3-pack
1 green kneeling Clone from the AOTC 3-pack
1 green AOTC super-articulated Clone with another on the way.
Time to build a Wookiee army to go with them now. Now where's that Wookiee army thread gone...

    nice pics PM.
thats exactly the type of Kashyyyke set up i am planning...

its just such a pitty they didint release regular BARC Speeder clones in standing position..those would be key in the future...

That's my mission right now. The battle of Kashyyyk was peopled only with Wookiees and Camo-Scout/Barc Troopers with the AT-RT drivers appearing in a later scene. Yet the only version of this trooper we get is an unmoveable hunk of bloated plastic. I've been in search of customs and found only one of worth so far. This is a trooper Hasbro seriously needs to look at.

    Thanks a lot, guys. :)

I also have a ton of AOTC/Clone Wars clones doing nothing but laying in state within little Ziplock bags. I hope someday I'll be able to find a good use for them.

We DEFINITELY need Barc Troopers. This should have been a no brainer for Hasbro... if not during the ROTS line, then next year. While I love the AT-RT Driver figure, he shouldn't be as dominant in my diorama as he is.

edit: I was watching ROTS with the commentary, and I noticed that Commander Gree does in fact have an antenna on his back. I guess I'll have to put it back on my Gree figure!

 You mean Hasbro got what appeared to be a meaningless add-on correct!? Does this mean that the SA Troopers were based on Gree?

I noticed the antennae on Gree's back the other day when watching ROTS. When I first saw his figure I thought, "Great, he has that stupid antennae on his back that the SA Clone had." Nice that Hasbro noticed it and included it.

You mean Hasbro got what appeared to be a meaningless add-on correct!? Does this mean that the SA Troopers were based on Gree?

I was wondering the same thing.

If you think you can spare one ATRT driver to make the whole thing look cooler, the green commander looks great with an ATRT head.

Theres ATTEs on Utapau too, also if you have Barc speeders they go perfect on them, come to think of it, they work well on the old speeder design too.

That's not a bad idea, M-F. I used my own two AT-TE Gunners in that little open area at the front of the Gunship, as can be seen in one of my pics.

I was a bit surprised to see Gree actually did have the antenna. But I don't think the SA Clones were based off of him, as in the movie he has what appears to be a little backpack type thing. That may be where the antenna attatches.

I guess this means Gree gets taken off the list as least movie accurate figure from RotS.

Btw, I found the BARC Speeder (and the Wookie heliocopter-thingy) marked down at Target the other day.

Great catch, thanks very much for pointing this out. I feel a bit silly because Gree is my favorite Clone Trooper, and I recently got his toy and wanted it to be as movie-accurate as possible. I made a point of looking at many pictures to see if he had the antenna or not (and checking the DVD, too), and didn't see it. But when I saw your comment I checked again and it's there, sure enough.

OK I picked up a couple of carded Special Ops troopers finally. I'd like to say I'm completely happy, but for two problems. First, why would troopers stationed on Coruscant, who appear in the film raiding the Jedi Temple have their legs covered in red dust as if they've just gotten back from Geonosis? WTH?

Also, when I removed the helmets, one of the figures has a black mark across the left side of his face. I guess I could call it a scar, but it looks more like a big black smudge.

You of all people should know better than to use that acronym. Changed it to WTH. :)

A minor point on BARCs. I just noticed that Stass Allie's bike has green highlights as opposed to the red ones on the BARC trooper's one. Maybe they should swap, since the green one would be more appropriate for Kashyyyk? Just thought...
Edit: this shows it pretty well:

Looks like images from Rebelscum showed the Geonosis dust all along, but no one's said a thing about it.

I'm pretty sure some of us have talked about it Roland...I know I was complaining about it at some point.

It's notable that my bad "review" of them didn't mention it...but that was because I thought it was common knowledge.

I never noticed before, I guess I was just too excited at the prospect of more 501st troopers. So has anyone asked Hasbro about this? Is there any explanation? Maybe he tromped through some indoor garden in the Jedi Temple?

As far as I know Hasbro has never really explained it...and likely never will knowing them.

Someone just decided it would be a good idea...despite the fact that it very clearly isn't.

I remember someone once joked about it being the blood of the younglings...which is at least an entertaining explanation.

I had thought of that but felt it was a little more twisted than I'd like for a diorama. Although the fate of my few younglings standing in the way of Anakin and his troops is clear. ;)

I went back in time to take a look at some old Comic Con pics.

It looks like Hasbro always planned on giving these guys dirty feet, even when they were working on the SA Clone mold with a rather different paintjob.

    [image=http://www.rebelscum.com/sdcc05/hasbro/IMG_7514.JPG]

That's from Rebelscum's first report on the "Final 12" after Hasbro gave us a peek at them.

Here's something I don't understand. The prototype image is clearly a repaint of the SA clone! Why did they decide to go with the AT-TE sculpt (which is far inferior)?:_|

I'm not upset about the mold choice. I actually like the variation and the fact that I can remove his helmet. Although one of my new 501st's helmet is squished and mishappen.

The simplest explanation is that Hasbro didn't have the capacity to produce two figures using the SA Clone mold at the same time. They may have thought they could (hence the prototype) and then realized they couldn't.

If you'll look all of the recent flood of Clones has used different molds, so that they can manage their production better. Both the SA and Quick-Draw molds were already heavily in use. Only the AT-TE Gunner mold and the Deluxe Jet Pack mold were really available for them to use for another figure.

Now it's possible that they could've swapped it up and used the SA mold for the 501st and the AT-TE Gunner for Gree. But really that was their only option at the point.

Even the Jet Pack mold wound up getting a work out as it turns out...I don't think Hasbro is capable of creating any more Clones than they are cranking out right now...so they had no choice but to spread out the molds.
