jedilucass- it says "Portman (Padme) in te green cut-velvet robe." the dash(-) indicates that it's desribing the pattern cut into the velvet. not that the dress was cut from the movie.

Have you seen the NICE close up of Padme's hands on her belly holding her Japor Snippet ? it's a nice close up to the details of the Funeral dress ! Looks like the "ribbons" falling down the neckline are trims of turquoise and blue colors !

Geez, according to the Making of ROTS book, some of Padmé's scenes may have been cut from the film. Including the one where she wears the peacock dress and the scenes in which she wears her green velvet cloak. (Like Lucass was talking about.)

I don't know if those scenes are in or out now, but on page 158 it says scene '68-69 and 71' were cut back in 2003. Those scenes should be of her in the green cloak.
And on page 178 it says scene '88-89' was cut in 2004. That's the scene with her in the peacock dress.

Anyone else who has this book, can you read those pages and make sure I'm not mis-reading it? I suppose it's not so surprising considering how many of her scenes were cut from AOTC.

But I can hope they were put back in. I guess we won't know for sure until the film opens. But I find it super odd that they would release the movie poster with her in the peacock dress if that scene was really left out. argh. [face_frustrated]

p.s. There's a thread in the 3SA regarding the cut scenes here.

No Obi-Dawn, you're not misreading it. The book says that the delegation of 2000 scene is out. I think we will see the green robe, just not as much as before. The first meeting between Padme and Obi Wan was cut. But I think we see her in the green robe again with the senators. But then again that may be gone as well. Over in the 3SA thread they're saying that all of the scenes that establish the Rebel Alliance were cut (including, sadly Mon Mothma and her lines :_| )

I really hope that these scenes are not gone entirely. It is very possible that during pickups these scenes were reshot or combined with other scenes. It's possible that only the original versions of these scenes are gone (as in how they appear in the shooting script and how they were shot during principle photography) and that the pickups altered them. I simple can't imagine how they could edit out the conception of the Rebel Alliance. It just doesn't make sense. If these scenes truly are gone completely, that would marginalize Padme in this film quite a bit. As it sits with these supposed "edits", Padme is very much a damsel in distress without any of the political boldness and warrior heart that we've come to expect from her character. That makes me upset and slightly worried.

And the Peacock gown!!!??? Don't even get me started. That's my FAVORITE one. I'm going to go cry myself to sleep now :_|

I agree with your post, nya. I'll be so upset if Mon Mothma is relegated to a background scene character and has no speaking lines. *sigh*

The Delegation of 2000 scene was one I was really looking forward to too. *harumph*

we cant lose the green cloak its so beautiful! if padme gets relegated to damsel in distress i`ll be so annoyed. it will take away everything they`ve built up and the funeral will so lose its significance. *huh. goes away to sulk*

WE can't loose those two! I don't think that they'll cut the green one out completely- it was in the last set of pick ups, wasn't it? Where Padme is supposed going to see the jedi temple burn down? They just CAN"T cut the peacock- it's the second most talked about costume... and it's in the vainity fair layout... *frowns* THis is depressing news...

Yeah, I was thinking about how the green cloak was shot in the pick-ups. So maybe it's not completely cut?

I think the costume she has on while she watches the temple from afar is the light blue nightgown.

Anyway, I'm trying to stay objective. The film isn't completed yet and edits/re-edits are still happening. But it will suck if the peacock gown is gone.

I just realized something. The scene titled "Anakin confronts Padme" is on the list of cut scenes. This is the scene we recently saw a part of in the "Tragedy" TV spot. ("Something's happening. I'm not the Jedi I should be") It's the Kissy dress.

I'm willing to just wait and see what happens. The problem is that all the dresses that were made are interesting and beautiful, and any of them being cut will feel like a loss. :(
This is the pain of being spoiled, I guess; we KNOW what's missing from the film. [face_laugh]

Yeah, I remember feeling that way over the deleted scenes in AOTC the first time I saw it. It's the price of being spoiled. :p

Oh my god....That is SOOO depressing.....So does Padme have ANY lines in this film at all ???? <expletive here> !! I'm so frustrated !!!!

The Delegation of 2000 was one of the scenes I tried to stay away from the spoilers...I was looking SOOO forward to see Padme confront Palpatine.....

Don't worry folks, the Green Robe will definitely be IN the movie, even if it's some kind of very quick scene ala "AOTC Flight suite/Cordé scene"- why am I so certain about this ? Coz we see it in two scenes...so if since they listed "Natalie Portman" under that poster, she then should have lines, no ?

As for the Purple/black Kissey dress scene....then again....Why NOT cut ALL of Padme's scenes then George Lucas ?!?!?

Also, perhaps the Delegation of 2000 scene was just deleted and re-edited...I mean...if you look at the shot of her standing up from her chair, you clearly see that the clasp at the closure of her cloak is not there....and on the Vanity fair and in the recent Insider, they show Padme has a "clasp" at the closure...SO, it must have been edited....

IF these scenes are cut for real, then, I'm looking fooooooorward to know WHY they've deleted them in the DVD......"I felt the movie needed to pick up speed, I wanted to allow the character of General Grevious to have more pivotal role in this film, so I can merchandise this character even more when the movie is out".

Anthony- who is really p*ssed off by reading that.

OMG I got to see a special trailer last night (about 5 minutes) at a private event and there was a GREAT shot of the back of Padme's Kissy gown, drool. There was also a good shot of her head with the top of the dress, there is a BEAUTIFUL brooch by her neck :D I think I saw more than I wanted to, but OMG it was awesome. This isn't anything we've seen yet either, it might only be shown at C3 - I'm just guessing. There was a good shot of the Brown outfit from the back as well, but it was very quick. I can't WAIT for this movie and all the excellent costumes :D

I'm seething with (good natured) jealousy.
So, remember any fun details from the back of that black gown?

I too am disturbed and disgusted that Darth Lucas would somehow find these senatorial scenes nonessential, in favor for more saber action, no doubt. What, did he intend for everyone to hate Padme second only to Jar Jar? It's bad enough I couldn't stand her character in the previous prequels and was looking forward to seeing her ACT and have a truly pivotal role this time around, but if all we're going to get of her is sniveling then I'll have no choice but to say that no matter what, ROTS really does ROT.

Well, the thing is that we don't really know why George decided to cut the scenes he did. (Unless there is more written about it in the book, which I haven't completely read.) So to make any assumptions as to his reasons may be a bit premature.

Thing is, we just don't know what will be in the final cut yet. So even though I'll lament the loss of any screentime for Padmé and/or some of her costumes, I've always been aware that there would be deleted scenes. There always are....

Wow Benae, that's really cool!!! So are you thinking that this new trailer might be one of the events at C3? That's cool. I was kind of hoping there would be another Trailer for ROTS. One teaser and one Trailer just doesn't seem like a whole lot after all of the trailers we got for AOTC.

You bring welcome news on this rather sour day. Thanks :)

I am remaining hopeful that these cuts represent alterations or even "trims" of original scenes not actual "deletes". I hold this opinion because one of the deleted scenes on that list is Shaak Ti getting iced by Grievous on his flagship at the beginning of the film. I know that her death scene isn't gone though because during pickups they shot Anakin killing her in the Temple during the raid near the end of the film. In fact, there's a great pic of her meditating in her quarters with Anakin standing behind her, looming in for the kill. That bodes well for this list; that ideas and concepts may remain, just not the scenes as they were originally intended.

I'm just going to cross my fingers and hope for the best.

It was very hard to see the details on the back, but it looked very simple from what I could tell. I hope they show this at C3, it made my skin goosebumpy :D Plus it had a LOT of the new music droooool, I looooooove Jonny Williams :D :D :D

Hey, all of us going to c3 should ask why on earth do they think that cutting padme so much from the films (I was SO mad when they cut all the family scenes from episode two- it would have provided soooo much to Padme's charecter, but noooo) makes them "run smoother" or "speed the story along". If one of the reasons Anakin turns is fear of loosing padme, she should be in the film alot- or else it's just a faceless name that wouldn't convey the human side to vader much. Like someone else said, I'm hoping that these are just "trims" to the orginal scene- I know that lucas is ruthless about cutting scenes that he thinks slows it down for 9-12 year old boys.... but, I have faith that lucasfilms knows that star wars fans aren't all 9-12 year old boys. That the age scale is a lot more- so is the gender.

By the way, GREAT images on your site, Maggie! Made my day!

Hmm, anyone know if there's a separate thread for the "Leia Buns" costume yet. I don't see one and the search option is not working correctly for me.

I don't think there is one, katha. If you want to start one, go ahead. A title like "Padme's 'Leia buns' costume" would be good.

Hey Maggie, Ce'Nedra here, I am going to push in here and ask you a Q. Would you mind if I did some concept Drawing for the dresses on Padawansguide.com? I have been looking on your site for over 3 months and have noticed that some of your dresses like, The Purple Senate, have not got them. Anthony, I am not trying to take your job, your drawings are mean as coolness, I have even based some of my Concepts on your photoshops.
Anyway, I have done some more dresses and as soon as my stepdad lets me use the Scanner I will scan them and send them to you. I hope you will like them.
btw, I am going to make Padme's Lavander Nightgown soon, and I will put some pics up of it as I am making it.

Okay, I'm trying to offer some construction advice to a friend on the Padme Lavender/'Sleepless Knights' Dress.

Looking at the new BACK picture of it over at Padawan's Guide, what does those here think the shawl shape is?

My friend thot it looks like Semi-Circle but from the way the shawl get pinned up and drape, I doubt it. Tried to use my Maul's Fellowship Cloak to try out the Semi-Circle theory but it doesn't seems to work as that will make it too wide to drape similar to the original and having parts that ended up in the wrong positions. I tried it both ways, using the straight side and the circular one. ;)
