I like that. The multiple meanings work well, and it's a title that rolls off the tongue easily. One of the biggest problems with many suggested titles is that they just sound a bit clumsy.

 

And Episode 9: Beyond the Dark is a nod to everyone's favorite slicer, Benicio Del Toro haha. BTD!

Today for sure.

I am so sure, that if the title is not relased today, I will phone them and say: "Hi, I am a Star Wars fan, errr... could you please say when you are going to release the title?"

 

He says, on a discussion board dedicated exclusively to the fandom of a single movie franchise.

 

Not only this, but implying that we who loved it are dumb.

 

So it’s looking more and more like a Celebration title reveal.

No, that's not what he's implying. Every SW project since the OT has been met with negativity from fans. Its amazing how things can change. After the prequels, I remember when fans spoke of George Lucas as if he were a mental patient, and needed SW "taken out of his hands." From 2008 to 2012, TCW series was regarded as absolute joke (at best). Then all of a sudden everyone loved it all along. The prequels started being beloved as well. And the EU (which had also been derided for years).

 

STAR WARS EPISODE IX: CELEBRATION

 

Yep. With nothing coming out this week, they might as well just give us everything at Celebration.

 

I predict we will learn the title on a day ending with a y, at some point in a month during 2019... maybe.

 

yep, i was just going to say that this will bite me in the ass when the title drops tomorrow but 1st March is next friday and then once you're into march, why bother when celebration is right around the corner.

 

If we don't get a title reveal by the first week of March, then I think they're going to reveal it at Celebration along with the trailer. If that is the case, it’s quite a ballsy move on their part. Really, there's no reason to withhold the title for so long, but they would also earn my respect because people will be utterly starving by then (me included). We'll see.

 

I was wrong. And I fear a very late title release.

it could be as simple as the Disney team saw how the Avengers Teaser+Title basically threw that fanbase into a mass frenzy for weeks before and after they dropped it, so they could be thinking "why not just follow that style Star Wars"?

 

The hyper-secrecy stuff does get a bit old after a while.
Hoping it doesn't backfire.

 

i don't think it's really hyper-secrecy, more "what will get the most coverage, at the cheapest cost, for the longest period of time". I have no doubt that Disney's marketing teams continually watch reactions to Solo / Avengers / Captain Marvel etc etc marketing and are trying to figure out how to even better that "hype" for star wars.

 

I would not even release a trailer, nor any images, nor a title before the moment they put tickets on sale.

Imagine how many clickbait videos we would avoid by this. All those Simpsons comic book guys would have nothing to hate for months.

 

Two of the reasons why Solo bombed were: 1) ridiculously poor and short marketing; 2) way too soon after TLJ.

They might want to get the hype train going as soon as possible because of #1, but that could easily run into the second problem. Maybe they are really trying to avoid oversaturation and want people to forget about Star Wars for a few months.

So it’s a fine line to walk on. Count me in with the group that thinks it’s either tomorrow or Celebration.
