Two things always confused on Cloud City with Leia.

    1. When the rebels enter the banquet room, she's wearing the burgundy dress with the white lace overtop. Now the rebel are captured. Then when they're in the prison block, she's in her white jumpsuit minus the rebel vest, when she's thrown in. Now if she's in the custody of the empire, when did she have time to change her clothes?

    2. Whatever happened to her rebel vest after Cloud City? I know that she changes back into her white jumpsuit for the remainder of the movie after the banquet, but isn't space supposed to be cold (Anakin in TPM). Everyone wears multi-layers.

    I know it's nitpicky...but just wondering.

I'm glad someone brought this up.

Here's the question along those lines that really threw me and continues to do so. Yes, she's inexplicably missing her vest and gloves, but what's up with the new heeled shoes?!

She's not wearing her Hoth boots anymore, nor the red slippers - she's got these heels on!

I guess the Empire only gave her enough time to hop back into her jumpsuit before dragging her into the cell with Han and Chewie.

Leia: "Can't I grab my vest and gloves?"

TK-687: "No Princess, you can't. Also, TK-129 and I want you to put on these heels....now turn real slow...and wink at me - I mean! Uh...Move along!"

I never noticed the missing boots before.

The Empire probably spray painted the vest and gloves orange and sold it on auction to the Greedo in Jabba's Palace.

Seriously, the female rebel hoth costumes were reused for the Greedos in ROTJ.

The Empire decided it'd probabbly be more convenient to have a captive in a jumpsuit rather than a dress. And she doesn't even need the vest anymore on Bespin. Same goes for the gloves.

There's an implication throughout the films that Imperial prisoners are strip-searched and don't always get all their outerwear back afterwards. Another example is when Luke is presented to Vader in ROTJ he's missing his vest.

Leia, I imagine, refused to put her Cloud City dress back on after her search, out of resentment at Lando and no longer wanting his gifts, so the Imperials, who had collected the Rebels' belongings from the guest suite, gave her her jumpsuit.

Han keeps his jacket in scenes following his capture but this may have been because of production problems rather than a choice -- as noted elsewhere, Kershner didn't discover till production that Harrison Ford's costume's shirt had been made without sleeves, so another shirt with sleeves had to be made before filming the carbon-freezing scene when they really wanted him to not have the jacket anymore. The long-sleeve version of the shirt may not have been available during filming of the torture and prison scenes. (Just specuation!)

This calls for an extended ESB scene. I'd like to see some tension between Leia and Lando during Han's torture scene.

Oh? You would think they'd keep her in the dress so those guys have some eyecandy. :p

Anyway, I really have no idea why the Empire would let her change once in their custody. I'm just guessing that perhaps the strip-search theory is true and she possibly had the jumpsuit still on under the dress. And when they were through with her, never returned the fancy stuff. Then again, that's just a wild guess. I'm just trying to make some sense out of this like the rest of you. ;)

Hmm...an extended scene showing tension between Leia and Lando during the torture scenes? You know, that's actually a scene I don't mind them adding. And that's saying a lot. :p

That's a good point. I hadn't thought of that before, but it makes sense. In RotJ, they definitely wouldn't let some random prisoner speak privately with Vader unless they were sure he didn't have an explosive strapped to himself.
