PT Ewan McGregor should have been Anakin Skywalker

Eh, despite the physical resemblance, I think it's meant to be a purposeful stylistic resemblance. Remember, both are pretty much at the same level at this point and time in their careers. On the cusp of Knighthood awaiting their Great Trial. and the Dark Side beckons when it comes time to defeat the apprentice of a Sith Lord. In the end, I think that there was meant to be a resemblance here, but there shouldn't have been a familial one.

 

I heard a pretty convincing theory that Obi-Wan is Luke's real father.

He does look similar but I can only see Ewan as Obi-Wan....and Hayden did a great job as Anakin.

Oh great, yeah, have a whole Star Wars cast Chinese fire drill. Let's just have Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill trade characters, and get Ashley Eckstein to play Captain Rex while we're at it.

 

I don't see how someone could picture him as someone else in the SW universe. Besides he would've been too old.

It's really hard to even consider after three movies, several spinoffs... to trade characters for actors like that is just hard to fathom. Paradigms are set, faces irrevocably linked with characters...

 

Ewan would not have been a good Anakin.This is not a critique of Ewan as an actor he is great and perfect for Obi-wan, watch the making of ROTS web doc Becoming Obi-wan. He just would not have been right as the guy who ends up as Vader. Now having Anakin in TPM older say 16-17(and Obi-wan be a jedi knight already and in the Qui-gon role in that film) then I agree that movie would have would have been better.

 

He was a good Kenobi, so I wouldn't mess with that. I'd sign up for another Anakin though.

 

I wouldn't wish the role of Live Action Anakin on my worst enemy.

Ewan did not have the personality and acting skill needed to be Anakin. Hayden had the aggressive look. He had the whiny attitude. He had the douchey physique. Hayden will always be the better pick.

 

Why not just recast Jake Lloyd?!?!?!?
