I just now realized that it was Carel Struycken (mr. Homn in Star Trek: TNG) who played Terak in The Battle for Endor.

I learned this not too long ago myself! I absolutely loved him on Twin Peaks in particular!

Huh. Massive Twin Peaks fan here, and I never realized that either.

Been in the mood to revisit the Ewok movies lately; I think I will soon. There's always been a part of me that wishes that these movies got the same money and care that went into films like Jim Henson's The Dark Crystal and Lucasfilm's own Labyrinth. There's a lot of really fun potential in these movies, despite their obvious made for tv limitations that held them back, as little fantasy adventure films starring puppets and costumed characters that just so happen to be set in the Star Wars universe. I think Lucasfilm/Disney+ will be missing a HUGE opportunity if they don't do something along the lines of the Ewok movies, a miniseries populated by all kinds of odd puppet creatures and characters (sans humans this time), especially given the absolutely phenomenal work that The Jim Henson Company was able to do on The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.

The Ewoks television films is remarkable in its own way. It's a pity they often beat her.

The Ewoks television series were harder for me. Especially the second season, but it's also a pretty good show.

Been three years or something, I was busy with other things, e.g. life and pondering over not having one last year and the shock that came with it, LMAO. Soooo many things to respond to in one of the best threads ever.

I guess I will respond to last comment and drop something that I've been thinking about?

The second season really, really pushes my buttons the more and more I watch it.

The first season has one episode that was clearly produced in rush, with too much rotoscoping (The Three Lessons), the episode order makes no sense as the Morag ones must be placed first as a single arc and they did not develop the character of Chief Chirpa at all until the last episode. But other than that, there are no big flaws. It's character-centered as opposed plot-centered and I see that it's why public perception of it has changed over the last half a decade or so. :) The cartoon and series creators made that a new standard and I love it. I think that @Mother_Talzin made a similar point a couple of pages ago.

And some of the stuff in the second season is so ridiculous that I retcon it when I write fics myself. No, no party animals on some sort of motorcycles, no clothes and girls wearing nightgowns and most of all, NO DE-AGING. According to some super-old scans, the characters are in their teens and the second season just plain ruins it because they're set back in everything and they're babies. I won't even talk about how a remarkable character was turned into too-dumb-to-live comic relief et cetera. It's like everybody has a fever dream. But Battle for the Sunstar as one of the best series finales that I know of is popular for good reasons, just like Wicket's Wagon and Sunstar vs. Shadowstone from first season.

    ...

Now the thing that hardly interests anybody, but I have to. Now that the other moons of Endor/Tana have names, which one of them would correspond to the original "Sistermoon"? The only thing we know about it is that it does not have atmosphere, so it cannot be Kef Bir, but at the same time, is there any logic in it as it's the only one that would make sense in connection to Endor? As two locked bodies, one of which causes tides on the other and vice-versa? I'm so confused about this.

Thank you, I am extremely glad to be here and even more excited to see that we got some new material that I was somehow not aware of - the Forces of Destiny episodes, the R2-D2 is lost short that more or less resolves the Teebo and Paploo thing; and this splendid, splendid comic with Ra-Lee in it. :) I always thought that introducing that character solely to have them in picture for a couple of seconds and killed off-screen was a pity and finally, we know that the badass daughters had a badass mother. :)

And now I am thinking of something that would connect Logray's backstory in Sunstar vs. Shadowstone with that comic.

This is interesting reasoning and I agree with you.

One thing that I would NOT want to happen is some idiotic remake of the cartoon series with characters looking like cheap Flash animations from twenty years ago. Animaniacs got the kind of treatment that I would wish to any good cartoon of our childhoods (Xenial demographics, I guess early "true" millennials would agree on this too): just copy character and background designs, update the theme song with relevant stuff and get going, because there are many stories to tell and possibilities are endless as long as you don't stick to a strict timeline.

My mind read BTS as this band the whole planet is obsessed with...you cannot unsee what you are imagining right now. :D

Endor always seemed about as dangerous with its wildlife and as Force magical as Dathomir, especially going by the Caravan film. I enjoyed the exploration of Endor with these movies. Interesting with Nightsister Charal and the Marauder king and their quest for "the power" - and everytime he talks about the "the power" and all of that kinda thing it seems like he's searching for the Force and not really the fuel power cell thingy, lol.

Whether intentional or not they seemed to have partially imitated grumpy old Noa with grumpy Luke in TLJ and the fighting with the staff stuff.

When the sequel trilogy was first announced, I thought it would've been neat if they gave Wilford Brimley a cameo. Like maybe he's sitting in a cantina talking with a grown-up Cindel.

Are the Ewok movies in widescreen or full screen aspect ratio? Are they in HD?

Full screen; they don't appear to be in HD, but they're not terrible either, same as the rest of the Vintage Collection.

Yeah, the thing is that there is no HD source for the Ewok movies. They were shot on film, but unless they can find an original print that isn't too degraded to be scanned and restored (and it's doubtful that one still exists), they can only use the master tapes from the 80s, which are not in very high definition. So the source used for Disney+ is most likely the digital master they created from those tapes for the DVD release in the early 00s.

And even if they had a decent film print, it would be an expensive process to restore it, and I don't think Disney would be interested in spending that money on two silly TV movies that not many people care about.

They were shot in full screen and on film.

Silly? Star Wars itself is silly. The Ewok movies are a HELL of a lot better than nearly everything Disney themselves have produced. They are also more authentically Star Wars than anything Disney will ever produce, since Lucas himself wrote the stories, produced, directed some scenes, and helped with the designs and editing.

Can we NOT do the "real Star Wars" thing for the thousandth time? They're all made up stories, no need to get defensive over what is or isn't "authentic".

Dude, my title on these forums is literally "Ewok Enthusiast". I love the Ewok movies, and I'll defend them to my dying day.
But to a modern audience they are just curiosities, nothing else. And Disney won't treat them as anything else. That was my point.

I started watching Caravan of Courage yesterday, and I'm happy to say that the quality is actually slightly better than it was on the DVD release. It looked really good for an old TV movie.

I'm surprised I haven't commented here yet, as I really loved both of the Ewok Adventure films. They're really wholesome and tell fresh, unique stories in the Star Wars universe. I can understand how people in the 80s might not have been keen on these films because of their lack of Jedi, stormtroopers and space battles. But given that we're in an age saturated by such content, I like these self-contained stories which inject a bit of fairy-tale fantasy into the Star Wars galaxy.

I also appreciate the films for introducing stuff like Night Sisters and Blurrgs. Yeah, the special effects for these things have aged poorly in some ways and the child actors don't deliver stellar performances, but I personally think that adds to the charm.

Before there was Grogu, there was Teek. I always liked Teek’s innocent expressions, although, if you look at his face, it’s kind of creepy. Him sneaking up to your bed at night would scare the crap out of you. I wish there had been more of him, but that whole movie is almost forgotten by the masses.

I just managed to get my hands on a sealed mint copy of the Ewok Movies DvD! Finally got sealed copies of all SW DvDs and Blurays ever released (beside the 2006 reissues of the OT with the not SE Editions. Cant find these mofos anywhere. Go unsealed copies of course)

The guys making the game really knew their stuff! Awesome easter egg!

Did anybody else catch Ewoks in the latest season of Stranger Things? In Episode 3, it's playing on a Television set.

I know Stranger Things is seeped in 80's nostalgia, but I wasn't expecting this. I'm so happy to see this show get some recognition. Maybe it will even encourage more Star Wars fans to give Ewoks a watch on Disney+ after Obi-Wan Kenobi is finished. ;)
