This is COMICALLY based on things it always sounded to me like the Ewoks said either in English, Spanish, or Japanese. Of course, I know it only SOUNDED that way, but I still hear them this way after 23 years!

I remember the very first time I saw "Return of the Jedi" on it's opening day in 1983 just after my high school freshman year final exams. It came to the scene in which Wicket awakens Leia. She tells him to sit down. "No!" (like a resistant little kid! She then explains that what she took off was just her hat. A doubting Wicket responds, "Ah! I'll betch'a!"

Now for the FUNNY part! They suddenly get blasted by the then-unseen trooper. Wicket slowly raises his head - looking very peeved at suddenly getting shot at. He gives the unseen assailant a very foul-mouthed piece of his mind. (I'll leave in dashes so as not to be BLATANTLY vulgar, but I'm sure you can EASILY uncode it!) "E-t your m-ma!" I burst out laughing, and so did my my high school friends, because I SWEAR that's what it sounds / looks like! I have NEVER seen that scene / heard that any other way since! As he runs under the log, Wicket says, "E-t your m-ma again!" He must REALLY not like these biker scouts!

After Leia disposes of the biker scouts, Wicket tugs at her, and says "Eatchya! You're good! Yum Yum!" Is he getting hungry?

Right when Threepio sits up after the fall from the Ewoks' net, among the gasps, another Ewok can be heard telling HIM to "Eat" an implied woman who gave birth to HIM as well! Just after Threepio greets them in their own language, one Ewok turns to the other and says, "That guy's wise!"

Another Spanish-speaking Ewok can be heard just after that moment saying, "T- madre". Do Ewoks have a thing against maternal figures?! LOL!

After that, just as Han pulls back from attacking Threepio, I guess there are some Japenese Ewoks there who are grateful, because one of them thanks him three times in Japanese! "Domo, domo, domo!" I almost expected them to turn to Threepio and say, "Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto"! LOL! (That was corny, I know, but would have been fitting as he IS a robot!)

There are other things along the way! But these are the ones that really stick out in my mind.

    "E-t your m-ma!"
I always thought he said "Ay, chihuahua!"

There are different interpretations of what it sounds like. But that's what it always sounded like to me! From day one! Of course, none of this was intended, but it was sure funny! And, after viewing the film so many times, you start to pick things up from the background Ewok chatter that sound hilarious!
