I've just woken up to this. I can't believe it! This is it...the moment we hoped would never come, but it has arrived.

thats a point. All I can think of now the initial shock is over , is how come the intelligence offices had no idea this was in the offing?

Hmm...I think the phrase "better sooner rather than later" is inapropriate?

 

Even though I've lived through years of bomb blasts in Northern Ireland it still never ceases to shock me. Everyone's shocked here in my office (a big government building in Belfast).

My thoughs with the families and relatives- and the families who will have to identify bodies.


Al Queada released a list a while ago of possible targets and London was on it- and so was Belfast! I will not view my opinions on these people as some might consider it very strong and some what racist.

 

People are dead, dying, injured and scared.

Now is the time for sympathy and compassion. Speculation and finger pointing doesn't help - in fact it has the opposite effect.

My sympathies to anyone involved or affected by this catastrophe.

 

Al Quaeda is a menace...They have gone too far, they went too far on 9/11.

 

No offence but why is he returning?


I mean honestly what can he do except go around looking important and taking police away from doing their du.ty to protect him.


IMO the best thing he can do is stay at the G8 and try and do some good for the rest of the world (Climate etc...) and leave the professionals to deal with London. He'll still be updated there and he can still issue soundbites as and when needed.

 

Hopefully the worst is now over.

 

Of course they are a menace. America funded and trained them.

It certainly seems that the emergency services have done a sterling job, and that the emergency planning that was in place has worked well to contain the situation.

As for the security, the galling fact is that if a terrorist group really wants to cause problems, they will keep trying, and will keep trying, and (short of one policeman per member of the public) it takes luck and judgement to catch them and prevent attacks every time. And what's even more galling, is that the terrorists know that.

Hmm, something like you have to have an ID card to be able to use transport?

 

They won't but the push for them will become more intense.


And in the climate of fear this will create it will only garner more support for the pointless little things

 

well then got a fake / stolen one

 

But if it has your pic on or fingerprints then it wouldnt work...And there should be a system where theres a certain database where if your card is not entered there...your fake one is invalid.??
