Nice try. My mom took care of HER properly, and I don't mean by means of digestion.

Sorry to hear about your lil hamster.

I have had several animals run away it sucks but i keep getting replacements. Depending on how close i was to the pet, it can never take the place of the ones that got away.

Don't worry, I'm sure he's around. As the others said, look under large appliances. Also, try leaving out some hamster food in various areas of the house, maybe set a few non-lethal traps.

My friend lost her hamster when she was in middle school and they had a family hunt for it... even moved their big tv to check behind it. They picked it up, set it down and heard a "squeak!!!!!"

And her hamster was crushed to death.

    True Story!

Mine used to run away all the time. They liked the warm spots under the heaters around the wall of my room. We just put food all over the floor in the direction of the cage and they usually came back.

Just wait and keep any cats and dogs out of the house. My brother's did the same thing and it turned up two weeks later. Just look for signs of hampster occupation (poop, lol) to see where he's decided to make his new home.

You can make hamster traps with buckets. Just put some food in them and have a little ramp up and then when they try to get to the food, they'll fall in. Hopefully not too far onto a soft cloth or something.

Same thing happened to me years ago. I left the cage door open and then went to work on a motorcycle. Got back to my room and no hamster. [face_plain]

I started to look around in a panic and them my mom screamed "WHAT IS THIS ******* THING CRAWLING AROUND THE TV???"

Yep. I was 13. Ah youth. Such memories. :p

Hamsters are escape-y little things. I'm sure he's still around somewhere, though, and you can probably lure him back with food. You could consider buying a "live" trap too. It's a box that the animal runs in and then gets stuck inside. I just hope you don't have any little holes in the floorboards that a small animal could get stuck in. Everywhere I've lived, I've always been very careful to plug up all the tiny holes so I won't have to worry about my guys disappearing.
