I had got the Special Edition of blue harvest and was Suprised by the size of it! It was like having the classic Trilogy box set in your hands :p. To confirm another poster's question, Yes, the Special edition does come with 2 disks. Disk one contained the extended show and pecial features, and the 2nd disk was just for the digital copy. Besides a digital copy, the 2nd disk does not work on any dvd players, just the dvd-rom drive on a computer. There is also a code inside the case on a DVD insert that you will want to keep if you want to do the digital copy.

I found the Extended show much more funnier than the inital release, and i think the only reason many were cut were due to time. The dvd menus are made to look like the SW dvd menus and did a convincing job to make it look like a SW dvd production. Also the special features were fun to watch as well. Listening to Seth talk to George was not only insightful and interisting, but I learned a lot on how George does many tasks in Lucasfilm. The way he was guessing the music Seth was humming was pretty funny :p Then you get a anamatic version of the episode that had its own set of jokes and other characters that was cut out, especialy Jon Benjamin's blond haired character on family guy, that was replaced by the sarcastic-joke forigner.(Which explains why Coach McGurk from Home Movies was in the bar scene, yet his voice was nowhere to be heard)Then there are the Making of Blue Harvest and the Commentary that is alomst a common feature for the Family Guy DVD's. Then I believe there is a Family guy promo at the end. Although I didnt see any footage from the next Family Guy SW spoof, they did confirm that they are in production and that they regret using Blue Harvest for the first one when they could have done it for ROTJ(Can be seen in the making of feature). I also believe that they are having a contest as well online that will draw the person in the next SW spoof so yea, thats always neat to enter. Then there is a 3D flying sequence that a person can watch with the inserted 3D glasses that come with the set.

The other stuff in the set are quite neat as well. The collectable cards, the T-Shirt, and the smal artbook were neat to look at and nice to have included. Because its such an awesome set, i just cant bring myself to pen up the cards or te t-shirt, so i still have them untouched in the case.

Its an awesome case. I myself was able to get it for about 25 dollers for the SE and the regular set was just 14 dollers. I reccomend getting it sometime this first week before the price goes up. I figured, why not pay the price of a regular dvd and get all the cool stuff then to just pay a lil less for pretty much nothing? Go for the SE edition, you wil not regret it! ;)

Without having watched the show, there are a few character references you may not get, but beyond that i think it's pretty funny. Check out their website Blue Harvest DVD and see what you think :)

It's great to see this extended version- and the added Rebel trooper dialogue at the start that was shown at C4 (they also had footage of the C4 stage's SW family Guy event).

I think the Emperor should be Peter's Dad (the first one) or it could be Death :D

It's too bad Mr. Pewtershmidt was cast as Owen. I think he would've made a cool Emperor.

Maybe they'll tap some slight crossover and use Karl Rove from American Dad for the Emperor.

However, I could also see them doubling up character roles- Herbert's pedophile nature would fit the ROTJ Emperor's dialogue perfectly. Maybe for Yoda either reuse Stewie or use Stewie's partial brother (I forget his name).

Well I bought the box set and watched it this afternoon and I thought it was hilarious. I was taken back a bit by some of the off color humor but I assume that's just Family Guy's brand of comedy. Technically the production values were phenomenal and I thought it was great that it looked exactly like Star Wars.

I think they did a good job on balancing the "this joke is for anyone who loves star wars" aspects with "this joke is for anyone who loves Family Guy" aspects (especially since the majority of the latter was mainly character role assignments).

The former had stuff like the "listing lazily to the left" manuever, the death star laser tunnel guys & "Don't get penisy" based on stuff SW fans have joked and thought about for years, new stuff like the Watto/saber bit that anyone could enjoy ("it's so tantalizing!") and surprisingly fresh commentary on moments in the film that no one's ever really noticed before (Han pointing out that Luke's criticising him for not believing in something Luke only first heard about 3 hours ago).

My friend TB-1783 (yea, he's a 501st member :)) has found some easter eggs that are in the Family Guy DVD. There is a short trailer of the next SW spoof with the Chicken being Boba Fett and There is footage of the FG cast doing a reading for SW-V. One is located in the special features area, look were meg pops up from the water. then the next one is in the sound options where the tractor beam grnerator is at. Check them out and enjoy :)

I have not seen the Robot Chicken one, but have heard it's great. The Blue Harvest Family Guy episode is one of the best shows they've done. I can't wait until they release shows based on ESB and ROTJ (they confirmed this back in the December timeframe if I remember correctly).

Yeah, the Family Guy was a great episode. If you liked that, you need to watch the Robot Chicken one. I laughed so hard with that. It was so hilarious!

Speaking of which, they're both on TONIGHT...in about a half hour or so starting with the Family Guy Blue Harvest episode. I'll definitely be taping the robot chicken one.

I saw the DVD and I was not impressed. There were only a few funny parts (e.g. Watto / lightsabre), but the rest was uninspired. The couch thing was dumb because it went on for what seemed like 20 minutes. Obi-Wan as an implied pedophile wasn't funny (the joke on that is old). I was basically bored for a lot of it. The Robot Chicken special was actually funny and I laughed all the way through. So Robot Chicken >> Family Guy.

Well, keep in mind that what you described is pretty much Family Guy humor. The couch thing being drawn out is utilized a bit in Family Guy (ie. when Peter falls and injures his leg). While I was upset with the character that was Obi-Wan, that is who that character is in the Family Guy series. Also, Family Guy aims to offend and the aspect of being a pedophile is probably offensive to some people. If you don't like that humor, chances are you aren't going to like Family Guy (which seems apparent you don't [face_tongue). My opinion on it was that it was really funny. I use to be a HUGE fan of FG back a couple of years ago. Now, I don't find it quite as funny (I think the episodes of South Park which made fun of FG have a lot to do with that...I am still a HUGE SP fan :D).

But, I do agree, the Robot Chicken episode was funnier. I did like how they tacked that on to the end of the FG episode. The added comedy to that was that Seth Green (the [co?]creator of RC voices Seth). :p

Sorry to double post, but I thought this was of worth to post. Found it at the bottom of the page in the tf.n links.

Family Guy double dips at the Emmy's. Apparently, they are entering more than one category at the Emmy's, which to my understanding, is the first time a comedy cartoon show like this has done that. So, this will definitely be cool to watch.

Naw, I checked the Emmy nominations, and did not see Family Guy getting nominated. Of course their was the usual suck ass shows that I don't watch but ohh well. Family Guy: Blue Harvest was awesome and it was the second all time highest. Not bad.

I'm holding my breath for Family Guy's Star Wars episode being nominated. Even if it's been overlooked, I can handle it.

I was disappointed because everyone made it sound so funny so I expected a comedy on par with Spaceballs or Robot Chicken but it wasn't. Family Guy is better when it just inserts a random SW reference as opposed to an all out spoof. It did have its moments though.

I heard somewhere that Ollie Williams (the shouting black weatherman) will be Lando in the Empire Strikes Back parody (which you can catch a partial table-read of on the Blue Harvest DVD, as an Easter Egg).

I have a gut feeling Yoda will be portrayed by Bertram, Stewie's half-brother. He's got the height for it.

    http://www.theforce.net/latestnews/story/Family_Guy_Robot_Chicken_EMMY_Noms_116149.asp

Family Guy: Blue Harvest and Robot Chicken: Star Wars have both been nominated for an Emmy. They are in the same category, Most Outstanding Animated Show. Though, Family Guy is for programs one hour or more, while Robot Chicken is for under one hour.

That is awesome, and it would be great to see if they both won!

I think it would be interesting if they had been nominated for the same thing. Seeing which one would win would be interesting. Personally, I liked the Robot Chicken better.

EDIT: Well, I hate to say it, but I am not going to be rooting for Imaginationland. That was too funny to not win.

I'm hoping Blue Harvest wins. That was freaking awesome. For me, the funniest part was when Peter was firing the gun on the Falcon and all the while he's making sounds from the theme during that part of ANH.

I can't wait for the sequels!!
