I haven't seen it yet, but what you're pointing out is what I consider to be the main weakness of the first one. It seems the guys making it were so reverent of the films, that for many scenes they completely forget to parody it and simply re-enact the whole thing as faithfully as possible.

Dack vs the entire Imperial fleet? Hilarious.

Walker grabbing its knee and groaning? I nearly fell out of my chair with laughter.

Saw it last night, and I have to say, I think they drop waaaay to many F-bombs. Some are in spots easy to cut for TV, some are not (and one is in a key scene).

And the opening crawl? I was laughing so hard, knowing that it will be HEAVILY edited for tv, not for profanity, but because of how they go after FOX.

There's some good scenes, but overall it felt... lacking.

Kudos on getting James Woods in there. I was hoping he'd show up.

I say Meg will wind up being Jabba in the third part.

Well, I have to say it was rather weak. As I feared they take way too much time re-enacting the film itself, with hardly any parody for long stretches. As for the jokes themselves, the vast majority was simply not funny, most of the good ones were in the trailer and I only chuckled once during the whole show (2-1B's line). I appreciate the effort and love that the Family Guy crew obvisouly put into this, but the bottom line is that with all the freedom they were allowed with the franchise, this simply should have been funnier.

It wasn't nearly as enjoyable as the first one for me, for reasons already stated. But some of it just recycled old Family Guy jokes, and most of it just wasn't that funny. Stewie as Darth Vader didn't quite work for me, but I did enjoy the Giant Chicken as Boba Fett - and Peter seems perfect for Han. I also felt the Yoda stuff could have been much funnier - it didn't help that the guy they chose to play him has only been in one single episode of FG (could they not have used Joe?).

I agree. There was so much they could have done with Yoda, and yet he was completely bland and his sequences very boring. The only good moment on Dagobah was the R2 landing joke.

    Just saw it.

my sides hurt, most of the best jokes are from the large number of michael j. fox jokes.

and also never knew about han's clothes

My expectations were kinda low, because IMO Family Guy kinda lost most of its quality after the fourth season and because I read some negative posts in this thread.

Anway, I saw it and enjoyed it a lot more than I expected. A lot of funny references and sidesteps. Mort as Lando was a great choice, though they didn't use Mort's weaknesses to the max to highlight the reverted personalities compared to the actual movie Lando.
I agree on Yoda. After seeing SSDS I would have liked to see Meg playing him.
Didn't like the AT-AT baby joke. Would have preferred it to be a toilet instead- yes, a pretty obvious joke, but not as unnecessarily shocking.
One of my favourite moments would have to be Luke contacting Tom Selleck through the Force.

I saw it and i thought it was even better than the first one! I absolutely loved it. Im just a huge, die hard family guy fan so i actually appreciate all of the little in-jokes and re-uses/recycles of old family guy jokes.

I actually thought that casting Carl from the Quahog Mini-Mart as yoda was perfect. Hes already friends with chris and always has funny, drawn out conversations about movies and pop couture with chris so when i first herd he was going to be yoda i knew it would make for great scenes between the two and thats just how it was. I loved the rocky 4 joke as well as the kenny baker joke and the part where hes seeing the future and Carl says "That is a BITCH you see" -LMAO! [face_laugh]

Anyways the only thing i dont like is the fact that im going to have to wait ANOTHER 2 YEARS just to see the next family guy star wars special .

ima go ride my "Don-don" now. -LOLOLOL [face_laugh] :p [face_laugh]

I saw it and I LOVED it. It was great in every way. The jokes were fresh and the cast was awesome. My favorite casting was the cookie monster as the Wampa [face_laugh]

Just finished watching it. It was funny, but I think Blue Harvest is the better of the two. It seemed like they were trying to follow the actual film too much and this conflicted with the comedy bits. I didn't think Dagobah with Chris and Yoda was that great, FG's Yoda was too boring of a character and it seemed like wasted potential since Yoda can be a pretty mischievous guy.

My favorite scenes would be R2 "convincing" the computer terminal to let them out and getting caught by he computer's boyfriend, Leia explaining the escape plan to the Rebels, and most of the Vader scenes. Looking forward to ROTJ, hope it gets out much sooner this time around.

Picked up the DVD and Blu-Ray today (I don't have a BR player, but I wanted the t-shirt and lunchbox collector's edition which they don't have for the DVD, alas).

Overall. while I think BH was better, this was pretty close. I don't think any one gag stood out as "couch"-level classic, but there were several great ones.

-Like last time, the opening scroll was great (though not as random as the Jolie thing)

-Cleveland/R2's comment on the electrical wires attached to walls of ice.

-Peter/Han's drawn out heavy bretahing pause between "smelled bad" and "on the outside" was fantastic. The best part about these shows is how they take a really small, quiet but memorable facet of a line delivery or scene and manage to expand it out to a huge gag. =D=

    -"You don't fish."

-The cleaning lady scenes. All of them.

-Carl as Yoda was great, the drawn-out uber-film geek pop culture discussions really work with the Luke/Yoda dynamic [face_laugh]

-The Rocky IV Training Montage (complete with the classic music track of the same name) had me rolling ("I'm up for this and all, but it just seems like the darkside has a much better gym than we do" [face_laugh]).

-James Woods and James Caan's brief cameos.

    -The Cloud Car pilots.

-Peter's carbonite pose (which, going by the table-read extra feature, will have an amusing payoff in the next one).

-"Have you seen a hand around here?"

-Brian breaking the 4th wall about Lando's clothes (sure, Robot Chicken II did this gag already, but the Brian delivery here is much funnier than subtitled Chewbacca dialogue).

    -The BTT3 ending :D

One of the more interesting things is seeing what parts of the movie they "fast forward" through (Walker battle) and which parts that choose to dwell on and maintain the movie's pace or even stretch them out (Cloud City approach).

And, like both BH and RC, there's at least one great insight/observation that sheds new light on the films in a "Why didn't I think of that?" way- in this case, the "Why don't you face Vader" bit [face_laugh]

Also worth noting that, going by the table-read extra feature, the next one's title has been changed to "Episode VI: We Have a Bad Feeling About This..."

Count me among those who enjoyed this one better than BH - which I don't remember very well, because I haven't seen it since it came out. It also sounds great in blu-ray, the parts where the soundtrack is heavy with music and/or sound effects from the movie is a nice preview of what the actual movie will sound like when it comes out in blu-ray. :D

I kind of like that some of it is pretty much straight out of the movie, because I enjoyed watching the same scenes, but in animation style.

Don't really watch Family Guy, so I don't know the characters very well, but I liked the Giant Chicken as Boba Fett - and I'm stoked he's featured in the T-shirt that comes with the BB-exclusive gift set.

Where was James Wood? I missed him, but it was fun to learn James Caan turned to the dark side. [face_laugh]

By the way, the BTTF bit at the end isn't from Part III, but from Part II. ;)

Doh! Well, it set up BTTF3 ;)

James Woods filled in for General Veers during the approach to Hoth as he reported about the energy shield. Someone else played Veers on Hoth though.

The chicken was good as Boba...though I'm dissapointed they didn't manage to insert an epic Fett vs Solo Chicken Fight through Cloud City (especially since it had the rare potential to actually have the Chicken win this one!)- though I guess that fits in with Boba not really doing much in that movie around Solo.

Here's hoping we get a Chicken Fight in the next one. Especially since the whole Boba-survives-the-Sarlacc thing would fit in note perfectly with the typical thinks-he's-dead-then-BADA!-he is still alive! ending to a Chicken Fight.

With Blue Harvest it seemed a lot of people not familair with Family Guy didn't quite like Herbert as Obi-Wan as much as the people who did watch Family Guy. It seems, so far, that people might be having a similar reaction to Carl as Yoda in this one.

ANyways, gonna try to watch it with the commentary track in a bit (commentary tracks are the real reason i buy those FG DVD sets- they're often as funny/entertaining as the actual episode!).

I also had a good laugh that one of the extra features is a visual "Clone Wars Decoded"-esque pop-up commentary of seemingly the whole episode!

EDIT- Some tidbits from the commentary track (there weren't that many as the conversation had a lot of side-tangents ;) ):

-Lando was originally going to be played by Magic Johnson instead of a black Mort

-The Emperor was originally played by Death, but as they worked on ROTJ, they realized there'd be a lot fo dialogue between Stewie and the Emperor and they needed someone he could interact with better. So their next choice was to have Gary Cole reprise Bill Lumbergh from Office Space (which they actually recorded! The world is sadder that that is not included on the DVD, uless it's in the animatics...), before changing it to Lois's father.

-Empire was the most difficult film to emulate because of the sheer variety of backgrounds. Along these lines they don't think they can do the prequels because there's so much going on with the backgrounds in those movies, and because they're already mostly cartoons anyways.

Nowhere near as good as Blue Harvest.
Had some amusing bits though. The choice of Carter as Palpatine was ok at best. The cut gag about the operator would have been nice too. The Dax bits were cool.Especially when he just gets shot 'boom' after all his talk. 2-1B's sausage line was awesome. Carl as Yoda was TERRIBLE by and large. And the Rocky 4 montage was totally out of place. I honestly don't know who would have made a good Yoda. Maybe the Sea Captain? I will say Dr. Hartman as Gen.Rienkin was superb.
The Carbon Freeze was....meh. Save for the mooning gag. I wish they would have just played it straight. Somethings should not be played around with. The line from Peter after lois/Leia says 'I love you', and the Nerfherder bit too,....I pray that gets cut/redone for TV. His line to Lois was pathetically sad & out of place or...whatever.
Stewie/Vader's Spoiler Alert bit was fun though. The AT-AT's 'knee bit' is quite funny, even after seeing the trailor many times. The 'lots of empire stuff', "choke through TV", the opening crawl, Meg's cameo as the asteroid monster, Consuela's hologram, Joe as the Probe Droid, Elroy Jetson, Han's torture scene with music, Cookie Monster, seeing the Shelter for Luke, Overweight Pilot #1, and other bits were sweet.
One massive wasted wink would have been Greased Up Deaf Guy, or other charactor, (GUDG just came to mind first), as the Ice Cream Maker Guy trying to sell cones or something.
Peter/Han's "4 out of 5 main charactors" line was freakin' funny. I wish they would have recreated the Lando Vader 'altering the deal' gag from Robot Chicken. Or thought of it first. That would've been classic Stewie.
By and large Blue Harvest was a loving homage/satire to Star Wars. SSSDS had more in the way of vicious insults IMHO. I am sure that the less darker tone of ROTJ, like ANH before it, will serve FG's next Star Wars "Bad Feeling" well. On the whole, I give it a B-.

Just saw it today and I agree with some that it just wasn't as good as Blue Harvest. It fell flat in a few places and I found it to be a bit too mean spirited. I didn't appreciate all the F-Bombs either. One in particular was so out of place it was insulting. Even the DVD extras were disappointed compared with last time.

However it does look like that "I Have A Bad Feeling About This" will be funnier based on the table read.

Didn't BH have some F-bombs in the DVD version? I know Family Guy in general unbleeps all their cursewords for their DVD releases. I just forget if BH had any though.

Stewie's unmentionable "shhhh" in reaction to the cleaning lady was damn hilarious though, as was Chris's reaction to the "no wave your right hand!" bit.

Well, I just saw it. It was funny, but not on the same level as Blue Harvest.

I did notice one thing. In the sequence with the rebel fleet at the end, did anyone notice the E-wing? There was one sort of shaded out on the right hand side of the medical frigate in the background.

Boba in the chicken suit has great action figure potential.

I've seen a few people say they had some issues with the f-bombs, but its Family Guy. Its a show that will use beeps on network tv rather then not use a swear word. And its an uncut DVD release, the back of thebox says "language not sutiable for all ages....what did you expect?

I realize I'm in a minority, since nothing really offends me and I can see the humor in just about everything, and bad language can and does offend people, but its on you as a consumer to know what you're buying, and if that kind of language does offend you or disapoint you or whatever, don't buy it.

I think the problem is not so much with the profanity of the F-word, but how it's often used purely for shock value, in the place of an actual joke. The most glaring example of this is the "I love you" scene. Han's F response is not funny, doesn't make sense in the context of the movie and not even in the context of the parody. It's there simply as a cheap shot.
