St. Lou, MO Favorite/ least favorite change in the Special Edition Trilogy

OK. Yes, I would like to at least have the option of watching the unaltered movies on DVD for the simple fact that I fell in love with THOSE movies, but they're George's babies, so I'll accept it. That being said, what are your favorite and/or least favorite changes made?

My two favorites are Han and Chewie on the Death Star chasing the stormtroopers into the garrison. Makes much more sense than two troopers just turning around. I also love the new Jedi ending. It gives such a wider sense of celebration and victory.

My least favs are the silly looking Jabba in ANH (we'll see how much they fixed that) and, of course, Greedo (shooting at the same time is STILL silly).

Your thoughts?

 

I love the part where george lucas loses his damn mind and ruins one of the best scenes in cinematic history.

oh, and I've seen the new CG Jabba. much, much better. of course, it's ILM, so it's still nowhere near as good as, say, golem. still a useless scene.

Except for Greedo shooting first and "Jedi rocks" I like all the changes. The new ROTJ end is much better than the old, so that's my favorite.

OK.... I tear up a little every time I watch the new ending (in a manly, bad-a$$ kinda way, of course....)

 

honestly, I don't even remember the orignial end of RotJ.

I'll have to borrow that from my aunt when I come home for thanksgiving

I do like the new song even though I don't remember the old one.

 

The real ending was the one in which the ewoks sang a song and played stormtrooper helmets as drums, the inferior ending was the one with "jedi rock" or whatever it was and they show fireworks over a couple planets not being endor, where all the action was taking place.

 

My least favorite change is Greedo still shooting first.

OK. I think I just realized why they only put Hayden into the end of ROTJ.....

According to Ben's explanation to Luke as to why he said Darth Vader killed his father, he said when he switched to the dark side he ceased being Anakin Skywalker and became Darth Vader.... So that would've been the last time (before the redeption) that he was "Anakin Skywalker". Make sense or am I WAY off?

 

Makes more sence than any other reason I've heard, or come up with.

 

I believe in an interview GL said that was why Hayden was put in the end.

 

My least fav part (this will change once I see the new DVDs I bet) is the whole Greedo thing.

My fav part is the end of ROTJ, and the new Death Star Explosions.

 

OK. I saw the pics of the new Jabba. SSSSSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better! Now I don't regret them putting that scene back in....

 

hm... my favorite would have to be the dance sequence at the end of RotJ with all the different planets and cities celebrating the downfall of the emperor.

Least favorite... hm... tough one. I guess I'd have to say the most POINTLESS one would be... the dewbacks in ANH. *shrugs* not a clue.

 

Guess my favorite will be the cleaned up old special effects. I never had any problems erasing matte lines and things like that.

Same here. Oh, well. I guess Lucas thought that he's dead now, he won't know that he took him out. That's a slap in the face, in my opinion. Shaw was my favorite Anakin anyways.
