Kinda a companion to the obscure pieces of lore topic centered on the Art of SW litersture depicting characters or else. As an art enthusiast, I am surprised how much character art there really is for certain characters if only you dig deep enough. Art that probably most of the fanbase do not even know about, or if they do, hardly recognised as such or would remember when recalling a certain character's depictions.

And with that I do not just mean variant covers not everyone keeps track of, or illustrations in guidebooks. Some art is kinda hidden in plain sight, but you recall it for the front and center action and character, but not all the nuances and background characters in it, as well. But enough talk, lets share our fav obscure/rare SW Lit Art and discuss it!

I will start posting some in the next post, brace for impact!

I like the rare depictions of the Solokids and the grim dark alternate NJO sourcebook cover. [IMG][IMG]

People posted some nice ones in my "Lovely old WEG illustrations" thread from long ago...
I'll go hunting for more soon, this is my favorite type of thread!

The Chinese-only novel The Vow of Silver Dawn has produced a handful of gorgeous pieces of official art, including the cover art and a couple neat promo posters:

The High Republic also gets nice original Japanese Covers like these for the split into two volumes "Into the Dark" novel translation revealed today! We definitely need to look out for more of these originals.

That aside, I got plenty more old obscure and rare ones to post. But will leave space and time for your posts in between mine. So be sure that something nice will be posted every time someone else contributes ;) I promise!

While the concept art claims "unused" it actually was used. But you only see the lower ends of it in the respective TCW episode and not the full art so that on screen you can not recognise what they contain sadly. Still it exists and is TCW tv level canon for Legends and Disney.

Nomi Sunrider, Ulic Quel Droma, Lord Hoth, Ordan Urr etc. are canon. This concept art was revealed only in an exclusive DVD set bonus concept art booklet which is quite rare and obscure.

Whatever the Jedi Prince series may have lacked in the eyes of some, it surely made up for in the art department. This series actually has some surprisingly good artwork by Karl Kesel, who unfortunately never did any other Star Wars work to my knowledge. My favorite is this piece from "Zorba the Hutt's Revenge" - look closely and you'll see a Terminator endoskeleton menacing C-3PO, the original Iron Man armor, a droid carrying a Columi around like a baby (Kesel definitely had a copy of "Galaxy Guide 4: Alien Races" in his reference library), and probably other easter eggs I'm missing.

Kesel also did a trading card or two of Star Wars for TOPPS

Best depiction of Nom Anor ever... rare and relatively unknown Action Figure card art of him:

    Skeletor vibes!

Allen Nunis remains to this day one of my favorite Star Wars artists. We all remember that great WEG art, but Allen did some "historically important" work that hopefully never slides away into total obscurity. Here's a piece from the Heir to the Empire Sourcebook, one of the earliest (if not the earliest) visualizations of Mara Jade and Talon Karrde (spoiler for size):

He also did some Star Wars work for the RPG magazine Challenge:

Finally, Mon Mothma stirring up the crowd in what may be the earliest-ever visual depiction of the Imperial Senate, from the Rebel Alliance Sourcebook:

I like that the full cover looks like it inspired TLJs Crait with its red floor under the salt and high cliff walls the Rebel Base was built into.

Rarely seen or rather overlooked backcover featuring yellow Fleet Troopers and Officer... Imperial? New Republic? Any other source using yellow guys?[IMG]

  16. I have noticed that the Character of Rey or Daisy Ridley is Very Similar to Ian McDiarmid or Palpatine in these Pictures

With these Similarities and Physical Resemblance i like more the idea that Rey is a Descendant of Palpatine in my opinion both Characters look Similar i could believe they are Familiar
