I don't get it...if you are leaving the same day of it's release why don't you have you web space ready and just upload it before you go?

Because I don't have webspace. That's one of the reasons why I talked about handing it out via AIM to at least get it out to a few people.

For a low res output of this movie I need at least 100mb. For the hi res I plan to output I need 600-700mb.

What you could do is set up a BitTorrent file like what the Fanimatrix did. It allows people to swap the file around. You would just need to host a small file somewhere that isn't even one megabyte if I'm not mistaken.

That's all that I can think you could do to get it out before you have to go.

Here is a link explaining how this works.

My best advice would be to have someone host the torrent file since it would be very small and probably not affect bandwidth, so they could download it from there. The only thing is that you would have to let someone take the file from your computer first before you left so there would be someone with a connection to send the movie to others.

Jankster thats a great idea. I have a site that will prolly host it for you because I saw Fanimatrix on there. But it'll have to be through PM.

EWdit: BTw when is the expected release date?

Bit Torrent! That really is a good idea. I use it all the time, can't believe I didn't think of that. Thanks for the link on setting it up, that much I wasn't sure of. You can bet that I'll definitlely be looking into it.

To Know a Jedi will be premeiring this Sunday, December 21. Unfortunately, I doubt I'll be able to get the file online before I go home to spend the holiday with the folks, so the public release won't be until around the turn of the New Year.

There was quite a scare this week actually. Just last night we had a pretty severe crash. My main hard drive on my computer competely burned out, died, ceased to function. Fortunately the primary work files were backed up on another drive, so after purchasing a new hard drive this morning, reinstalling windows and such, we're back on track. Only a few hours of work was lost, no biggy. We will still make our deadline.

Hmmmm, I can take the file over AIM to put it on the Bit Torrent if you don't have time. Some one just has to tell me how to do it ;)

Aww this is an awesome story, I get that warm feeling when watching the trailer!
Playing with the idea and everyones dream, to have it for real, that it "actually works"!
Man hope the movie is as great as the trailer

But I must complain and tell you that my enthusiasm dropped right onto the floor when I saw the first lightsaber clip in the trailer. But it's oook.
Some of the other lightsaber-clips was actually very good, especially those in the dark. They felt more "realistic".
And the one with 3 guys fighting on grass and the ending clip was good too.

Looking forward to seeing it very much!

Well, if it is pulled off, it will be the first "feature length" FanFilm to reach actual completion.

So we are to understand that this "feature length FanFilm" is actually done and ready to be released???

I really like the music used in the trailer. Is it an original composition?

The music is "Airwave - the Dutch Force Remix by DJ Tiesto".

Metal J, I understand your pain, rest assured the sabers were fixed, they are very perdy now.

JediTAC - I'm proud to say that the movie is going to be completed, as in rendered, and burned to a DVD within 24 hours. We're super close guys, we're currently putting together the final mix, making last minute revisions, and putting on the end credits. I really is that close.

    Oh my god....

    After nearly two years...

    I can't believe I'm actually saying this...

To Know a Jedi is complete.

The final running time is 92 minutes, and it's rendering as we speak. In approximately 19 hours the first DVD will be burned.

My god it is a sweet, sweet day.

And now I must sleeo, it's something I haven't done in a long, long time.

Man, congratulations a thousand times. You are very likely the first to do this. You are not only an accomplished filmmaker now, you are a pioneer of fanfilmmaking.

That is awesome dude, congratulations! I can tell this has been a "work-of-love" and thanks for all the great updates during the last few months.
Those 19 hours can't go by fast enough!
Way-to-go...that is quite an accomplishment. :)

Ok, got a quick nap in. I'm very pleased to see that you guys are as excited as I am. As of right now the render stands at 8 hours down, and 11 to go :)

Well, once we get the first one burned we'll obviously be givin' it a gander to ensure EVERYTHING is in place. Assuming all is well then I might be able to have enough time to get a compressed version internet ready, and with any luck at least get it out to a couple guys who could in turn transfer it beyond to those who want it NOW.

We'll see, it'll be the render that decides exactly how we're going to go about things. Thanks again for the support guys, it's nice having more than just friends and family waiting for this thing ;)

Congrats Lake. You've accomplished a gigantic task, and it's absolutely fantastic that you're so happy with the outcome. Like TAC said, this isn't just a personal milestone, it can very well be the first time someone from this community has made a feature-length fan film. You and your team deserve a great deal of credit for all the work you've put into this achievement. :D

TFN staff, can you guys post an announcement on the fan films page about this? Maybe add a warning that it contains coarse language.
