Sorry guys... I missed another meeting. Got too much going down this weekend (again!). I'll make one of these meetings someday. Just a nasty coincidence of bad timing. Yuk!

Anyway, how did it all go?

It was a lot of fun! The restaurant was interesting, to say the least; once we got the hang of cooking your own food (and watching it so it didn't get burned), AND that you were supposed to use the lettuce leaves they supplied, as plates, it went pretty well. Wouldn't go there on a regular basis (kinda pricy), but as a special treat, it was swell.

The Brass Monkey was all that and a bag of chips. Just crowded enough to make it interesting. And when Art got up to sing (twice) with his special Star Wars lyrics to songs (especially "California Girl"), well, what can I say.

Kudos to Darth Bubba and Racer, Tie1138 and Danamel99, who also cast aside their inhibitions and sang, brave souls that they are.

And a special "hello" to all who where there, and sorry I didn't get a chance to talk to more of you! Crowded bar, noisy crowd, you know, the usual. Matt will be along with his report, so I won't go through the list of names. Suffice it to say, it was great fun to see all of you. :)

We of the JediBith clan, who only attended the dinner, had a great time. Our jackets still smell like BBQ! It was a pretty pricey (and confusing!) place, but we agree w/Helen that it was a good treat! I love to try places that are truly outside my normal, day-to-day cultural experience. My son said it was the best restaurant he'd ever gone to (well, having a fire pit on his table was probably the appeal to him!). And he loved having his belches rated by Darth-Bubba. On that elegant note I'll just end by saying "Thank you" to our intrepid organizers for another great LAFF evening.

    Looking forward to JediRacer's account!

Thanks Helen for the mini-report! It was a very interesting night.
Soot Bull Jeep was the name of the Korean BBQ place we went to. The food is excellent. The decor is non-existant. The air is smoky. It was different from any other Korean BBQ place I've been to. We all ordered different meats and shared. Good thing all of the tofu eating LAFF members forgot to come because there wasn't any tofu on the menu.. just MEAT. We discovered a new beverage, OB-wan beer. As ValedaKor stated, we had to cook our own meat on an open flame grill. I have less hairs on my arms today, but it was fun and very interesting. A definite cultural experience. JediBith showed us how to use lettuce leaves as a plate, and Darth Bubba showed us how to eat with our hands (even though utensils were provided). I hope everyone enjoyed dinner. It was definitely different. I'm proud that Jundland_Jay was willing to try it. The restaurant must be popular because there were tons of people waiting outside after we finished. LAFF members who ate dinner: ValedaKor, Silent_Bob_West & April, JediBith, Bernie & Thomas (the burping champion), Jundland_Jay, Darth-Bubba and Mrs. Darth-Bubba, and myself.

Afterwards, we headed on over to the Brass Monkey (that funky monkey) where Elensara and JiltedToo were waiting for us. We got there at 8:15pm, Karaoke didn't start until 9:00pm. But the beverages were priced lower during that time..so we sat around and chatted. Danamel99 and her friend Jessica joined us..then later followed by TIE1138. We were really happy to finally met Danamel99!! Silent_Bob_West was the very first singer of the night. He sang his own version of David Lee Roth's California Girls called Corellia Girls. I was really impressed with his singing ability and the lyrics he came up for the song!! Darth-Bubba and myself went up a bit later and sand Enter Sandman by Metallica.. we rocked the house! SBW went up again and sang another original parody of Mambo No.5 called Bounty Hunter no. 5. SBW is booked for the Roxy on April 22 to perform the rest of his Star Wars parodies! Look out Weird Al! (I'm kidding). SBW performed perfectly and his songs are hilarious..in a good way. Danamel99 went up next to sing Blister in the Sun by the Violent Femmes..she had the whole place singing along with her! Darth-Bubba went up two more times, once to sing Smoking in the Boys Room by Motley Crue and another song with JiltedToo.. I can't remember what it was because..uh..I was..in another state of mind. Jundland_Jay, Danamel99 and myself wanted to sing Hotel California together, but they never got around to us. Jundland_Jay, instead, went ahead and sang every song he knew in the thick songbook.
LAFF members who went to the Brass Monkey: Darth-Bubba, Mrs. Darth-Bubba, ValedaKor, Jundland_Jay, Silent_Bob_West, April, Elensara, JiltedToo, Danamel99, Jessica, TIE1138, and myself.

After Brass Monkey, we lost an hour of time and decided it was time to eat again. We went to the Denny's near the Wiltern Theatre, ate bad-for-you food and talked about how the LAFF > the rest.

It was another succesful Unofficial Event.

Pictures will be posted in the LAFF website.

Well it certainly was a fun evening. It was really great to meet everyone. I still maintain that I don't really exist and that I am a figment of your collective imaginations though. I don't know who that girl is in your pictures. :)

Thank you to everyone who were SO nice to my friend. She's VERY shy and has since decided that she does not like kareoke bars. She liked our group, but the atmosphere made her nervous. A BIG shout out to Jilted Too who went out of his way to make my friend feel welcomed. Thanks man. :) And if you send me your email, I can probably find some wedding pics on my computer of the suposed non-existant hubby. :) Anyhow, much fun was had, sorry for all of those who missed it for whatever reason. And I too have a headache today. :(

T'was fun. Sorry I didn't make it to dinner, but it's probably a good thing I got to the Brass Monkey earlier rather than later. ;)

    Thanks Matt and Bubbas!!

Ah yes, another successful unofficial event, which officially did happen. Karaoke was fun, that place sure got crowded. Between 9-10:30 PM, it became pakced. Now for your single boys and girls, it was definitely a place with lots of talent. The hotties were out in full gear! When we left at midnight, you could barley walk. (because it was crowded)

Thank you to Matt (Jedi-Racer) for the wonderful candies he gave the group from Hawaii. Very thoughtful. As always, J-R is the consemate professional with the camera, hence his title.

Good to see Liz and Bernie make dinner, and Liz's son. A little obnoxious with the 10 belches, but boys will be boys. Glad you guys made it to the meal.

Also glad we got to call and harass Darth-Haskett. "I forgot," me thinks not. The marquee where we post has had the info. for three weeks. Claudia flaked. :( :)

SBW, good job singing! That took some mighty large Gungan Balls to go up there. Racer, we did rock the house with Sand Man! That was fun. Dana, Kudos as well. Next time, maybe Mrs. D-B, Helen and Jay will sing! I told you all to put a song down early.

    Denny's quote for the night...
Darth Bubba: "Uh, do you have Au Jus please?"
Waitress: (look of disbelief... why the hell is this drunk Gringo speaking French in a Mexican restaurant, located in Korea town. "You mean steak Sauace?"
Jedi Racer: "Uh Bubba, this is Denny's at 1 AM, not Lawry's. Be happy with the A-1." :D :D

Thanks Matt for the 1 AM snack. Disgusting, but generous none-the-less.

Jilted Too... Jilted Too.... well, you made it. You looked cool with the Sun Glasses, but how did you see?
I think we need to have a fundraiser. Money for Nick to buy a working cell phone. Sorry about the carpool thing. Blue Oyster cult rocked! We had a good set of groupies... the women at the back bar. Nick, I will be your karoake Wing Man anyday. Ditto Matt!

April, Sara, Helen, Derik, DanaMel, Jessica and Mrs. D-B, great to see you all! DanaMel, it was a pleasure meeting you. We (the LAFF) hope you had fun and look forward to seeing you again. This was a fun event, definitely a great intro. to the group.

And J-R: For the record, I asked 5 times for Chopsticks or a fork. She no habla Ingles. So I used my hands. Is that a crime?

Fun time, I am tired, but no headache. Group... we must work on our tolerance a bit.

Happy Passover to the group members who celebrate Passover. Happy early Easter to the rest.

And about our waitress at Brass Monkey: WOW!

Sounds like EVERYONE had the same unanimous thought: We are definitely returning to Brass Monkey. Maybe in June... that placed Rocked!

One last thought: When they played Nirvana, Smells Like Teen Spirit, we all jumped up, (literally all of us) and starting singing and dancing at the tables. We went F--cking Crazy! That was awesome!! That song truly put a smile on my face. Even my wife was singing!

Well, I really enjoyed myself, even at the BBQ dog restaurant. My jeans still smell like barbecued bow-wow, even after I aired them out all night. I guess its the gift that keeps on giving!

Thanks Matt, for the great chocolates and treating us to an early morning snack. You da MAN!

Karaoke was fun, but I guess I need to get my nerve up (or just drink more) and submit my song before 10. Oh well... SBW - you are the SW parody song-writer king!! That was amazing! Bubba, Matt, & Nick - you guys ROCK!!! Dana, you sang beautifully!

Well, great night everyone, and Bubba, the idea for the evening was truly inspired!

Happ holidays everyone, and I'll see you in May!

"And about our waitress at Brass Monkey: WOW!" - DB

Wow was right. I think I can honestly say that I now have a baseline zero for my dumb as a doornob meter. First off, when she took mine and Jess' order, we made it simple (and this was when it was not crowded) two ameretto sours and yes we'd like to open a tab. 2 minutes later she walks back and asks us again. Can I take your order? Then we remind her about our orders and the fact that she was going to start us a tab. She then brings us the two drinks and ASKS us how we're paying. Later in the evening, when we asked for our bill and she said she'd be right back with it. An hour later we received the bill. We still tipped well enough though. After all, it's up to us to take care of the ill witted of society. *dramatic eye roll*

Thanks for the complement Jay...not my best performance, but a fun one no doubt. ;)

I know what you mean! When I gave her my second order, she replied with the total for my first drink (which I'd already paid)...then it took making that second order three times, and maybe 20-30 minutes, for it to appear. Also, I think she brought the wrong thing at one point--we just assumed it was Nick's (he wasn't at the table), but when I reiterated my actual order, she said "Oh" and took that one back.

They're Greatttt! Yes, I flaked. I seriously did forget. My padawan come down with a fever Saturday morning. We had to cancel a play date and that threw my whole day off. Spent the day checking my padawan's temp and administering medicine and juice to keep the fever down. By the time dinner came around I completely forgot and when JR called I suddenly remembered. Sounds like everyone had a great time. Sorry I missed out.

I am really sorry I flaked. I really forgot. My padawan is feeling better. He's still congested but no more fever so that's good. I was completely thrown off everything this weekend. Daylight savings hasn't helped any.

For those of you who could not understand the lyrics that night, here they are(With apologies to the Beach Boys).

Corellian Girls (Sung to the tune of California Girls)

    The Twi'lek girls are hip
I love those tentacles they have for hair
And the Naboo girls with their clown white face
They knock me out while I'm down there
    The Tatooine farmer's daughter
Looks so fine under those twin suns
And the Angel girls from Iegos moons
The traders say they're second to none

I wish they all could be Corellian girls(3 times)

The Jedi Girls use mind tricks
And they'll make you take a stand
I dig their space bikinis on a wild outpost
With their lightsabers in their hands
I've been from Coruscant to the outer rim
And I've seen all kinds of girls
But I can't wait to get back to Corellian Space
Back to the cutest girls of the universe

I wish They all could be Corellian girls(3 times)

This could be a Han Solo song.

These lyrics are copyrighted, so if the Great Luke Ski uses it, you are all my witnesses.

    I'll post Bounty Hunter # 5 later.
